The Name Is
Still Saphira’s POV
Fifteen minutes later, Glary arrives.
I’m shocked at the speed at which he got here, I frown when I see him walking through the door.
“Glary, these are my neighbors, both werewolves. They found me when I passed out,” I introduce him to my two rescuers.
The three look at each other in shock.
“Aren’t you from the Midnight Moon pack? Gamma Kenry and the Alpha sister Elise?” Glary suddenly asks without shaking their hands. The two still nod in surprise.
“Alpha! Did you come and get Saphira personally?” asks Elise in amazement. The Gamma also looks as if this surprises him. But Glary bobs relaxed and turns to me. He takes me bridal style in his arms.
“This is my girlfriend,” he announces. “Thank you for taking care of her. I’ll take it from here”. And with that, the matter is settled for him and we leave. When we get to my apartment door, I press my fingertip on the device. Glary takes me in and puts me on both legs.
“How come you passed out, Saphira? That’s not something that happened to you before.” Glary is concerned, but I feel much better already.
“My wolf is weakened. We’ve been out of the pack for too long now. I need to re-energize. Do you think you can help me with that?” I ask him. He doesn’t answer me right away but gently pushes me to my bedroom.
“Pack your stuff quickly. We leave immediately. These two will report to their Alpha that you are here, Saphira,” he insists. Now I have to look up at him startled. But Glary stares back at me unfazed.
“Saphira, I know the Beta is your fated mate. You ran from him and he came looking for you in the pack. He almost went crazy when he didn’t find you there. His Alpha was able to prevent him from hurting people, which could be interpreted as a declaration of war. Our warriors were already on alert, waiting for the sign of my father to kill him and his Alpha on the spot”, he explains dryly.
Hearing this, I rush to the bedroom and put all the stuff I bought over the past week into a sports bag. When I finish and walk out of the room, I see Glary still standing, waiting for me. He takes me by the elbows and quickly leads me to the elevator.
As we walk out of the complex we almost run into the parking lot. Glary helps me into his SUV and tosses my bag in the back seat. At high speed, we blend in with the traffic. As we drive south a few minutes later, I turn to Glary. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
“Where are we going? You seem well prepared for all this.”
“The airport. You come with me to the training”, he replies firmly.
“And how come you arrived here so quickly, Glary?” I ask him again. From Silver Moon it is still a two-hour drive to human town.
“After the Beta came looking for you, I did my own research to see where you might be,” he explains. “Your credit card purchases indicated that you had to be around here. I searched the shops but no one had seen you before to know where you were staying. So I was still hanging out before leaving for my training destination. But luck was on my side when I received your call.”
His explanation sounds plausible.
When we arrive at the airport, he buys me a ticket at the airline counter. We are immediately checking in. Still we had a two hours waiting time before boarding, so we decided to take a seat in the waiting area. When we are comfortable, I turn back to my best friend.
“Tell me now. What did the Beta say when he looked for me in the pack? Did he confess to everyone that he’s my mate?” I want to know.
His answer is important, if the whole pack knows I’ve found my mate, they won’t go easy on me. They will pursue me to go to Midnight Moon and reunite with Jace. Not a day will I have rest or be able to move around in the pack undisturbed.
“Yep. He went on a rampage, demanded my father organize a search party for you. His Alpha and Mercedes helped until it was obvious you didn’t come back to Silver Moon. The border patrol also confirmed that.”
And with his words my fate is sealed.
My best option right now is to leave here with Glary. At least I’m in the company of a pack member which will reduce the lack.
Also, with his Alpha genes, Glary can boost my wolf, although not to the extent my mate could. In any case, Estrella will be able to communicate with me again but my strength as a human will have to keep me going. That’s the minimum I need to stay alive and count myself still a werewolf.
“Will the organization accept that you have taken me along? Isn’t this training for Alpha’s next in line? I’m just an ordinary pack member”, I tell him. Glary smiles and takes my hand.
“We’ve spent a lot of time together and everyone in our pack believes we have a special bond and you will eventually become chosen mates. So, I’ll take you as my mate with me. Most participants come with their mates, the majority are over eighteen. It’s obvious they can’t stay away from their other half for so long.”
That is Glary at its best.
There is always a solution ready for every setback. I believe he will be a great Alpha once he accepts his fated mate to help run the pack. I raise my hands to softly take his face and turn it for his eyes to look into mine.
“Her name is Jasmina. She is the strongest she-wolf in Midnight Moon”, I whisper to him. When he understands the meaning of my statement, he is startled at first and looks straight at me like a zombie. But his reaction is different from what I had hoped. Glary just takes my hand and pulls me along.
“Let’s go get something to eat. You must be hungry and I only had a snack this morning.”
With this I know he wants to drop the subject on his mate. He is tormented that she didn’t look for him when he was actually next door. Glary doesn’t understand how unfair his reasoning is.
But then I remember my own personal matter. I also reject my mate because he doesn’t sit well in my life. I disposed of him like a troublesome appendage I had to get rid of as soon as possible. A deep sigh leaves my chest. I’m no better than Glary, at the moment, we’re two drowning people clinging to each other, the one hoping to be rescued by the other. We want to survive but on our own terms.
