One - Hundred Sixty: First Shift

One-Hundred Sixty: First Shift
Satyira
Well, fuck, now what do I do? I am watching the trio of trouble. That is what everyone has nicknamed
Jordyn, Xaydyn, and Dominick. I have no idea how three two-year-olds cause so much chaos. Well, if
you know their parents, it might explain some of the issues. But that does not explain this.
“DRAYDON.” I yell.
I really don’t know who else to call. Plus, I know he isn’t far from me. He never is.
“Yes, you yelled my sweet little fae.” He says to me.
He stops and stares as soon as he enters the room. I know this was not what he expected when I
yelled for him. Well, I am sure he was expecting it to have something to do with these three.
“When did this happen?” He asks.
“Just now. They were playing and I watched as they all three shifted. They didn’t even cry.” She says.
“Ok well pick up one and I’ll grab the other two and bring them down to the rec room. Everyone is down
there.” He tells me.
I grab Jordyn and Dominick and he grabs Xaydyn. He is staring at them, trying to figure out how this is
possible. From what I have been told, wolves don’t have their first shift until they are 18, which is
supposedly painful. These three didn’t react at all. They just shifted. The two of us carry them down.
“So can any of you explain this to the two of us?” Draydon asks.
He plops the three little wolves on the ground, and they start running around. This is the quietest I have
ever heard of this group. Good, they are as shocked as I am. The silence lasts for about five minutes.
“What in the actual fuck?” Ashton asks.
“That’s what we were hoping you could answer,” I tell him.
“Who is who?” Haze asks.
He picks up the little strawberry blonde pup, and the little black/blue furred wolf growls at him.
“Well, those are obviously Jordyn and Dominick. So the salt and pepper colored pup must be Xaydyn.”
Mykayla says.
She is right. The only reason I know is that I saw it happen. Haze puts Jordyn down after Dominick
bites his leg. It does nothing to Haze’s leg. Dragon scales and all.
Sorry, I know this is weird but look how fucking adorable they are.” Nymyra says.
“While this is true, I am Satyira, can someone please explain why my son at two years old is able to
shift,” Dustin says.
The entire room turns its eyes on Mykenzie and Kylani. They just sit there, totally unaffected by all this.
“What we didn’t do anything,” Kylani says.
“You two have something to do with this.” Nate comments.
“We didn’t make them shift.” Mykenzie states. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
They didn’t make their shift, but I have no doubt it has something to do with their bloodline.
“They didn’t even cry. They literally looked at me and poof three little pups.” I tell them.
“Can they shift back?” Jace asks.
“I have no idea,” I say.
Chris says something to the three of them, and poof, three naked little two years olds are running
around. Then they run out of the room. Dustin and Kaleb give chase. The three of them don’t get far.
Phantom has laid down in the middle of the hall. Which means no one can get out. This is the first time
Dustin has been thankful for him taking up way too much space. They take the three naked kids
upstairs to put some clothes on them. I decide my turn to watch them is over. This whole situation is
above my pay grade. Besides, I am not their parents. This is not my problem. They are on their own to
figure out why these three shifted this young. I am going to sit back and watch them figure this out. I
plop down into Draydon’s lap and eat the sandwich he offers me. I am so done with this day.
Nate
We have been reading everything possible to try and figure out how it is possible that those three were
able to shift this young without any pain. To say we were shocked when Satyira and Draydon walked
into the rec room and dumped three tiny pups into the middle of the room is a huge fucking
understatement. We all sat there dumbfounded. Nymyra is right; they are adorable, but seriously how is
this possible? We have even asked all the parents, but they are as perplexed as we are. The elders
even have no idea how this is possible. We have scoured the library and can find nothing on the
subject.
“There is literally nothing that even remotely mentions anything like this happening,” I say.
“Someone or something has to have some kind of information,” Zak replies.
We hear laughing behind us, and we all turn to look. All of us guys are trying to find something to
explain this. The girls don’t seem to care. They have accepted this and moved on. When we turn, we
find Aphrodite and Athena behind us. Dimitri has also joined them in laughing at us.
“What is so funny?” Kaleb asks.
“All of you men trying to figure this out,” Athena says.
“What are you talking about?” I ask.
“The answer is right in front of you, well not literally,” Dimitri says.
We all look at each other. I think I know what he means.
“This is about Mykenzie and Kylani isn’t it?” I ask.
“Of course. Those three have their blood in them. Two directly and on indirectly. Then they have your
blood in them. So the wolf gene is strong. On top of that their wolf gene comes from my line which is
the strongest and oldest. Of course, they would shift sooner and with no pain.” Dimitri explains.
“However I was not expecting them to shift at two years old.” He admits.
At least, this makes sense. We all knew it had something to do with the girls; we just didn’t think about
all the other stuff.
“What about Kylani and Mykayla’s twins?” Peter asks.
“That we don’t know yet. Can you sense if they have wolves?” Athena asks.
“I will answer that for you. No, only two of them have wolves. I can’t tell you at what age they will shift.”
Aphrodite explains.
“Who has the wolves?” Dustin asks.
“Aiden and Dimitrus have wolves. Mariah is like her mother in every way.” Aphrodite says.
“What about Kaycen?” Kaleb asks.
“Kaycen is a special little guy. He is just like his mother. He will shift but not into a wolf. His mother can
partially shift into something.” Aphrodite says.
I see Chris sit up straight. I think he has this all figured out.
“You mean that Mariah has the phoenix gene and Kaycen will fully shift into a werecat?” Chris asks.
“That is what I am precisely saying.” She answers.
We all sit there stunned. That is not at all what we were expecting. I guess Mariah is her mother’s mini-
me. I had no idea that Mykenzie and Kylani could even partially shift. They have never done it in front
of us before. These kids just keep surprising us. At least now we can stop this endless search for
nothing.
“I wanna see your sisters partially shift,” Zane says.
“Just ask them and they will,” Chris says.
We put all these books and other shit we have out away since we have our answers. I am just glad we
got answers. Now we just need to show them how to control when they shift. This should be fun to try
and teach three two-year-olds.
