The Beta’s Regret

Chapter 240

Betrayal stung at me, and I grabbed my chest in pain. Suddenly losing strength, I began to replay the event over again in my head. Olivia was behind this.

At first, when Olivia had informed me that she knew where our parents were, I was skeptical. But then I saw no reason to doubt her...

She was my dear sister, and I couldn't imagine that she would ever betray me, despite following her father, Alpha Griffin.

Why did she hurt me? All my life, I have shown her nothing but love.

Could this be what the moon goddess was trying to show me in the other world?

Her similarities with Eve, Olivia's doppelganger. I'd thought it was just one of the many things I saw in the other realm but with every passing moment, Olivia was becoming more and more like Eve.

It was scary.

Maybe I shouldn't have trusted Olivia blindly. Knowing all that had happened with Eve before I woke up. That Eve wanted Eros by all means, and Olivia ought to be my sister... could her actions be because of Eros? Does she want the crown too? Or maybe she fell a victim of Alpha Griffin's manipulation?

My head throbbed painfully, and I groaned before rubbing a spot behind my head.

When the rogues showed up, one of them had tried to knock me out from behind, and his paw hit me on the back of my head.

The attack had given me a small injury and I fell to the ground.

However, I didn't allow myself to get overwhelmed by the sudden pain that shot through me. I stood up in defense...

Now, thinking about it, I still can't believe she watched the rogues attack me without doing a thing.

The rogues attacked me at once. One came from behind while the two others grabbed me on each side. I tried my best to pull away but it was almost impossible in human form-- so I shifted into my hybrid, allowing Tiara to keep control.

As soon as I transformed, a sudden burst of energy threw the rogues off me. They shuddered at the dominating power radiating off me.

For a moment, the rogues were confused. Then they jumped in for another attack... The only thought ringing through my soul was 'protecting' my pup and meeting my mate again.

I must have been too distracted by that thought, because I felt a sting on the back of my neck. My hand shot out to grab hold of whatever had caused the pain.

But everything suddenly became slow. My hands fell to my side as my knees buckled and I fell down. Just as my eyes got blurry, I saw Olivia stood over me and smirked

"I never knew you were such a fool." Those were her last words before my eyes closed finally.

I felt my body being pushed to the side and lifted up from the floor.

I couldn't open my eyes no matter how much I tried.

The truck ran over a pothole and jerked violently. It threw me off to the side and winced.

I needed to escape from here. If I stayed here for too long, I would be stuck here.

There was no exit out of here. The entrance of the truck was covered up with the tent and tied shut.

I began to think of different ways to escape when I felt another sharp sting- it was stronger greater than the one I'd felt some seconds ago.

This one lasted longer, and the pressure on my pelvic area was heightened. I ached slightly in between my legs.

It was obvious what it was now. A contraction.

But it was still bad timing. I still needed to escape from here without getting caught.

Another contraction hit me, and I placed a hand over my hand, biting down strongly to mute the sounds of my scream.

I threw my head back as my left hand grabbed the floor of the truck, my nails digging into the hard surface.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

I knew I looked a mess.

Fallen strands of hair stuck to my face and neck, there was dirt on my dress and skin, and I smelled of sweat. But nothing worried me more than my pup. When the pain eased a little, I pulled my hand away from my mouth and rubbed my belly gently in a circular motion.

"Just hold on a little for mommy." begged softly. "I want to meet you too, but we can't do that just yet." The tears stung my eyes and the went down.

I heaved a breath of relief and moved to the entrance of the truck. I went to work quickly and loosened the trampoline. I gasped in joy when the wide field was bare before me.

Fresh air hit my hair.

I looked at the ground. Thankfully, sn't moving too fast

the truck

I predicted the pacw, and

when I was sure it was safe enough,

I jumped out.

I wrapped my hand over my stomach, protecting it, as I tried to land on my feet. My body hit the floor and I tumbled.

I didn't expect the pain that shot through my side, and I released a loud scream.

That was a mistake.

The truck came to a sudden stop ahead. The driver must have realized that I had escaped through my scream or the side mirror.

But whatever it was, I didn't allow myself to think too much of it... I dragged myself to my feet and began to run.

It wasn't long before I heard stomping of feet behind me.

I gasped in relief when I saw a forest just ahead, away from the field.

Suddenly the clouds grew dark, and I kept going ahead.

I ran into the forest, hoping to lose my chaser in-between the trees and the sudden darkness.

It was of no use as my feet became heavy, and I could feel another contraction build up.

I was suddenly grabbed from behind and pulled to face someone.

Desperate to escape, I struggled against the hold. Face and body covered in a black cape hood, and black mask.

Curious about who it was, I pulled off the hoodie. My eyes widened in shock.

Lyra.

I stayed glued to one spot. She just smirked evily and completely pulled off the black cape hood from her body. And for the first time, I noticed her protruding stomach.

Lyra was pregnant too.
