Chapter 27
The next day I’m planning to go back where my I left my son but I looked at the man who helped me yesterday. If it wasn’t for him, my life and my child in my womb might be in danger. He’s currently sleeping on the side of the bed.
Right now I have nothing to pay him for what he spent in the hospital. If our paths cross tomorrow in the future, I will pay him back.
I made my way back to my son with the money I have. I know he will be sad, more likely to cry, but it’s better than being with his father who is engaged now to someone else.
I’m not sure why Steven would marry Amanda. I don’t know but I believe he doesn’t like it. I’m just angry because he didn’t even look for Hivo and me.
I arrived at the place I left my son. I saw him waiting for me outside. When he saw me, happiness immediately appeared on his face.
“Mommy,” he ran to me and hugged me.
“Mom, where’s dad?” he asked.
Instead of answering him, I changed the subject.
“Where are grandpa and grandma son?”
“They are inside, mom. There are visitors and they’re looking for you”
The visitors? I didn’t call my friends that we were here so I don’t expect any visitors today. We entered the house.
I saw a man on his 50’s and he was shocked when he saw me.
“Oh, Ria is already here,” grandma said. Why is he looking for me? Who is he?
The man stood up and came closer to me.
“I’m John. Roel’s friend,” Roel?
“Oh. Hello John. How’s Roel?” I asked worriedly. There is no news of what happened to him since there is no electricity here. I don’t know if he is fine or what.
I expected him to answer but he didn’t. I expected him to say that Roel was fine, but the joy on his face disappeared and replaced by sadness.
“Don’t tell me-”
“Yes. He died,”
W-What? He died.
N-No.. Tears started to fall. Is it my fault?
N-No.
That incident happened four weeks ago. During those weeks, Hivo and I were hiding and recovering and we didn’t have even a slightest idea that he died.
“M’lady, calm down,”
“My God! Get some water quickly!”
“Mom!”
I could barely hear my surroundings. I feel guilty. That wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for me. It’s my fault. I feel guilty for what happened to Roel.
“If I hadn’t gone home. If only I had let Steven’s mother insult me. If I would have just accepted all those painful words, I-I think he’s still alive today.”
“Ria,”
If only-
“Ria,” I blinked and looked at everyone who was looking at me worriedly.
“You need to rest first,” they led me to the bed and laid me down. The weight of pain inside me is unbearable. I poured everything into crying until I fell asleep. When I woke, I immediately looked for my son.
“Grandma, where is Hivo?”
“He’s with Karyo in the rice field,”
“Oh okay. Thank you, grandma,” I then looked around to find John.
“Where’s John?”
“John? He’s with his companion,” he answered. Companion? Someone came?
“A while ago, when you were sleeping, his companion came. You didn’t see him because you fell asleep earlier,”
Why are they here? What’s their purpose with me?
I stood up and went straight to grandma to ask for soup. She’s currently cooking now. I can smell the aroma of the chicken soup.
“Grandma, can I have some soup?”
“Of course. Just a moment and I’ll fill it with soup,” she said, “here,”
“Thank you, grandma,”
John came in with his friend.
John’s friend’s eyes widened when he saw me.
“Is this the daughter that Roel is talking about?”Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Yes, Felix. She looks exactly like Sir Albert,” John replied.
“I don’t want to be rude but who are you? And who’s Albert?”
“Hello m’lady, we’re not bad people. I’m Felix, Albert’s lawyer. Your dad,” he said.
My forehead furrowed
“Why are you looking for me?”
“M’lady, we are here to-
“MOMMY!” we both turned to my son who was running towards me while crying.
I was so worried that I almost dropped the bowl I was holding.
“Mommy! It’s not true.. right?” he said crying. What is not true?
“What do you mean?” I looked at Grandpa to ask for an explanation.
“I don’t know either. Earlier he was fine while we were listening to Rosing’s radio news on his phone then he suddenly started crying,”
I looked at Hivo. He buried his face on my lap.
“Baby, listen. Why are you crying?”
He didn’t listen and continued to cry.
“Hivo, baby, why are you crying?” it took awhile before he lifted his chin to look at me. I immediately wiped his face with the clean t-shirt I found.
“Now, can tell mama everything why are you crying?”
“Because mom-” he sniffed again and wiped the tears from his eyes.
“Mommy, the news said dad is expecting a new baby from another girl and… and mommy, why is daddy getting married to someone? Why is he happy? Why didn’t he look for us here? Is this the reason you back here alone? Is daddy really getting married?”
I want to cry when Hivo said those
“Doesn’t he love us, mom?” I sighed and knelt down to match his height.
I fixed her messy hair and smiled.
“Hivo. Always remember that daddy loves us okay? Whatever you hear on the news, it’s not true,”
He nodded and wiped the tears from his eyes again.
“Very good. Can you give me a hug?”
“I’m sorry but can we talk later? I’ll just put my son to sleep,” I told them.
When they nodded, I turned around to lay Hivo on the wooden bed.
I don’t know what is really going through Steven’s mind. I know that he loves Hivo. I know he loves me. So I wonder why he agreed to marry Amanda. I need to know everything. I want to ask him why he agreed. I want to know his side before judging him.
The next day, John and Felix were still here, but this time they did grocery shopping for grandma and grandpa, which made them happy.
“Steven Marcus Alvante? Is he the father of your son, M’lady?” Felix asked, who is said to be my father’s lawyer. First of all, who is really my father?
“Yes Felix and please stop calling me M’lady. Ria will do,” and why did they look for me? So what, if I’m Albert Loverio’s daughter?
“Alright M’lady I mean Ria. Anyway, this Steven is getting married. Is he cheating on you? We can sue him,” I coughed when he said that.
“Wait. What? Why are you suing him? He’s a good man. I can vouch that. Let’s not judge him first.”
“Or maybe because he thinks you and your son are dead,” he said making my eyes widen.
“WHAAAAT?”
“Yes. It said in the news that you, your son and Roel died at the car explosion. Your friends are grieving of your death,” Felix said.
Grieving? What the!
“How did you know they grieved us?”
“We investigated. There’s a big person behind this incident. Someone wants you dead, Ria.”
I gasped. What? But why? And who could it be?
“My son is coming here. He will bring the documents that I have to show you later,” he said.
“Okay-”
“Hello world. Is Feliciano Natividad a. k. a Felix there? Please tell him that his handsome son has arrived.” I heard someone’s voice outside the hut.
“My idiot son has arrived,” Felix mumbled.
I stood up and went with him to see who his son was. When our eyes met, we both surprised at each other.
“YOU!/YOU?”
