Chapter 26
Amelia’s Point Of View.
When Tuesday came, my work started, Caleb and Aria and I went in together.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
“Mommy! I’m so excited to see you at school!” I heard Aria say while we were in the car on our way to school.
I smiled. “I will not teach you, I will teach higher levels,” I said.
“Even so, at least we’ll go in together,” she answered and I just smiled.
I still have no news about dad, he still hasn’t called me until now, maybe he’s still really angry. He’s the only one left with me, and yet our relationship is still like this.
When I arrived at school, I quickly brought Aria and Caleb to their classroom, their friends quickly approached them. I smiled while looking at them, good thing they already have friends.
After I said goodbye to them, I went straight to the school faculty, the principal’s secretary told me that my desk was at the end.
“Oh! You’re the new piano teacher?” I heard a ma’am say, I nodded and smiled. It’s too early so there are only a few teachers here now.
“I’m Amelia Salvador, nice to meet you,” I said and smiled, the ma’am I was talking to smiled back.
“I’m ma’am Ella, grade 5 teacher, I heard that your children are studying here?” she said while smiling.
I nodded. “Yes, they are both kinder,” I answered.
“I’m sir James, it’s good that you accepted the school’s offer?” I turned to the speaker, he was looking at ma’am Ella and me.
“Nice to meet you, sir. I accepted the offer because I really missed teaching,” I answered. “And of course I need my own money for my children.”
“You know I watched your son Caleb’s performance!” I turned to the one next to ma’am Ella whom she introduced as ma’am Anne, she was smiling at me.
“Yes, he’s great! He’s already a talented kid,” answered ma’am Ella. “I also heard that Aria is good at drawing, her teacher always praises her because of her talent!”
“You are good at raising children, ma’am Amelia,” added ma’am Anne.
I bit my lower lip when I heard that, it was so good to hear those words especially because I am a single mom.
“It’s also difficult because I’m a single mom, I have to be a mother and father for both of them,” I answered while smiling.
They were both surprised by what they heard.
“Oh really, ma’am? That’s hard! It’s good that you managed it!” ma’am Ella said in shock.
“We are in the same situation, ma’am! I am also a single mother of one of my child,” said ma’am Anne. “It’s just one child that my back is almost hunched from taking care of him, but you? You’re taking care of two children like you? I salute you, ma’am!”
“You are also very good, ma’am Anne. It’s really hard to be a single mom, it’s not a joke,” I said.
Ma’am Ella scratched her head. “That’s why I don’t want to get married! I’m afraid he’ll just leave me, men are really annoying!” she said annoyed.
“Hey ma’am! As long as I’m alive, there’s one man who won’t leave you!” Sir James shouted causing us all to laugh.
When I got to my desk, I quickly arranged my things. When I was scheduled in a section, I quickly went to their classroom.
“Hi, good morning grade 5. I’m ma’am Amelia Salvador, your piano teacher. I hope we all get along,” I said smiling to them all.
The first thing I taught them today was the piano parts, but first I asked a question.
“Who among you likes or knows how to use the piano first?” I asked them, and no one raised a hand so I laughed softly. “So none of you know yet, who wants or is interested in learning the piano?” I added and almost all of them raised their hands so my smile widened.
“Do you guys ever wonder who invented the piano?” I said. “The piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori. He was dissatisfied by the lack of control that musicians had over the volume level of the harpsichord. He is credited for switching out the plucking mechanism with a hammer to create the modern piano in around the year 1700 .”
I walked ahead. “The impact of the piano is that the piano’s broad range of dynamics and its ability to convey a wide range of emotions allowed composers to explore new musical territories and create groundbreaking works,” I continued.
“I can say that the piano helps us a lot because we can show people what we want to convey if we use it and people can explore their talent more if they learn to use the piano,” I added. . “I was only five years old when I started to play piano, it was never a dream for me to know how to use it. I suddenly became interested when I saw it, at first I didn’t take it seriously this because I was only five years old, what do I know about such things, right?”
“I want you all to know how important piano is, playing piano can reduce your stress, it can sharpen fine motor skills and improves hand-eye coordination in the young and developing,” as I continued while they listened to me carefully, I suddenly felt happy in my heart because I had the courage to stand again in front of the children who want to learn after I left this job to fix myself.
I didn’t regret it, I didn’t regret that I quit to fix myself. Because look at me now, I can see the big change in myself.
