The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday

Chapter 48

It wasn't the first time Freya had become the butt of the joke among their elite circle. In their eyes, someone like Freya, desperately throwing herself at them, deserved to be toyed with. Seeing Luna on the verge of tears, Silas couldn't help but look toward Kieran.

But there he was, leaning on the couch, expressionless, sipping on whiskey as if he had no intention of intervening.

"Kieran!" Silas approached Kieran, lowering his voice, "This is too much! What if Ms. Dawson shows up? Do you want her to be the joke of Echo City?"NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

"Why should I stop her if she's asking for humiliation?" Kieran replied coldly.

Silas retorted, annoyed, "This is Eloise's party! You're ruining it, and that's not fair to her either."

Eloise also grabbed Kieran's arm, pleading, "Yeah, Kieran... maybe you should call Ms. Dawson and tell her not to come."

"She embarrassed you before Grandma. I said long ago she should apologize on her knees." Kieran's voice was indifferent, with a hint of chill.

Hearing this, Eloise unconsciously let go of Kieran's arm.

Puzzled, Silas said, "Kieran, this is too much! You've never gone this far before. What's gotten into you today?"

Kieran had disliked Freya before but had never humiliated her in public like this. The worst he'd done was throw the engagement ring into the pool on a bad day, and Freya had dived in to retrieve it! Since then, Silas had seen Freya as genuine, unlike other girls who approached Kieran out of vanity and scheming. Yet, Kieran chose to humiliate her in such a public setting.

In response to Silas's question, Kieran didn't speak, finishing his half-glass of whiskey in one gulp.

Half an hour had passed, and after several drinks, Kieran glanced at his watch, frowning.

"Is Freya coming or not? Lloyd, you didn't miscalculate, did you?"

"How could I? Freya will come! She's Mr. Sutton's lackey. Hearing Mr. Sutton wants to kiss Ms. Harwood, how could she not come?" Lloyd's words had barely left his mouth when the door swung open. Everyone was stunned to see Freya, dressed in a sleek black outfit, standing at the doorway.

They had always seen Freya dressed similarly to Eloise, not overly gentle, but a traditional, unresisting type.

It was their first time seeing Freya like this. Her makeup was light, yet her attire screamed bold and defiant.

In an instant, Freya had captivated the young elites of the room.

"Freya, you made it!" Lloyd stepped forward, looking at Freya with undisguised interest. "But what to do? You're late! Mr. Sutton is still going to kiss Ms. Harwood. Since you're here, why not have a toast to Mr. Sutton and Ms. Harwood's happiness before you leave?"
