Chapter 1145
Chapter 1145
When the police car arrived at the hospital, Warren was taken to the emergency room for treatment.
Meanwhile, Amelia’s condition was less severe. The two wounds on her neck were not deep, and the
baby in her stomach wasn’t affected. All she needed was treatment for her neck wounds.
On the other hand, Warren was still in critical condition and w undergoing treatment in the emergency
room.
Soon, Rosalie and Lillian arrived at the hospital.
As soon as Rosalie rushed into Amelia’s ward, she asked anxiously, “Amelia, how are you feeling? Is
the baby okay?”
“The baby and I are fine. I only sustained some minor injuries,” Amelia said.
“That’s good!” Rosalie and Lillian sighed with relief.
“Is Warren still in the emergency room? I… I want to wait for him outside.” Amelia was concerned.
“You are not in any condition to go to the emergency room right now. Don’t worry about Warren.
Jonathan and Callum are already there. If anything happens, they can handle it,” Lillian reassured her.
Amelia bit her lips, still wanting to go and see for herself. She could not rest without knowing how he
was doing.
“Why don’t we let Amelia go? I’ll ask the nurse to bring a wheelchair here so Amelia can sit on it to
conserve her energy,” Rosalie suggested. If they did not allow Amelia to go, she would be unable to
rest well in the ward anyway.
Upon hearing that, Lillian could only nod reluctantly.
After getting a wheelchair, Rosalie pushed Amelia to the emergency room while Lillian followed closely.
The three arrived at a room adjacent to the operating room where Warren was being treated.
Through the transparent floor-to-ceiling window, they could see the ongoing surgery. Several
specialists were gathered in front of the window, observing.
At the same time, the surgery’s progress and the doctors’ actions were displayed on an electronic
screen in the room. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Jonathan and Callum were present as well.
Rosalie watched the screen, focusing on the close-up of the wound as doctors treated it. The sight was
graphic and might be disturbing.
Thus, she hurriedly reminded Amelia, “Amelia, you shouldn’t watc
“Yeah, she’s right, stop looking at it. You might feel uncomfortable,” Lillian added, attempting to block
Amelia’s view.
“Lillian, step aside. I… I want to see it,” Amelia said in a choked voice.
“But…” Lillian hesitated.
Amelia said, “I should be the one sustaining all these injuries, but he took my place. I want to watch
and know what injuries he endured for my sake.”
Upon hearing this, Lillian fell silent. After a while, she stepped away.
Lillian knew if Callum had suffered such injuries for her one day, she would have insisted on watching,
too.
The blood-soaked wounds on the screen immediately caught Amelia’s attention.
Amelia watched silently at the wounds. Perhaps this image would be imprinted in her mind for the rest
of her life, reminding her of the price he paid to save her.
As Amelia watched, the doctors meticulously cleaned and sutured the wounds.
She realized that Warren was injured in more places than just his neck. There were injuries from the
earlier confrontation with a wooden stick, including his hands, head, and other areas covered by
clothing.
Amelia walked to the floor-to-ceiling window to look at Warren on the operating table.
From her view, she could only watch him surrounded by doctors and nurses from a distance. All she
could see was his profile.
His eyes were closed, some of his hair had been shaved, and his pale complexion was painfully
evident.
A deep sense of fear gripped her heart as she worried he might remain unconscious, never opening his
eyes again.
“Amelia, don’t worry. He will be fine.” Rosalie patted Amelia on the shoulder and said, “There are plenty
of experts here, and besides, Warren is normally in good health.”
Amelia quietly acknowledged and continued to focus on Warren.
About ten minutes later, a voice came from the operating room. “The patient lost too much blood and
needs a blood transfusion. He has a rare blood type that our blood bank does not supply. We need to
get it from the city’s blood bank.”
“You can draw my blood. We have the same blood type,” Amelia said without any hesitation.
Lillian hurriedly reminded, “Amelia, you are pregnant now. No doctor would dare to draw your blood
even if you’re willing.”
Amelia was stunned and finally realized she could not draw blood for Warren because she was
pregnant.
He tried his best to save her today, but she could not do anything for him.
Rosalie also said, “Amelia, don’t worry. We’ll have blood urgently transferred from the city’s blood
bank!”
Meanwhile, Jonathan had already contacted the blood bank of Strico. However, after a short while, a
frown creased his forehead.
Rosalie asked, “What’s wrong?”
“His blood type is rare, and the blood bank has only over 13 ounces of it, which may not be enough,”
Jonathan explained.
Amelia suddenly thought of something and said, “Women’s Health Hospital should have Warren’s
blood. It’s his blood.”
“Women’s Health Hospital? Rosalie was puzzled.
Amelia had no time to explain anything and turned to Jonathan. “Please contact Women’s Health
Hospital and ask them to send the blood Warren stored there as quickly as possible.
Jonathan quickly asked his subordinate to contact the Women’s Health
Hospital. After a while, the response came that Warren hader 33 ounces of his blood stored there and
was to be sent immediately.
Upon hearing this news, Amelia finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Though Rosalie and Lillian had many questions, they knew it was not the right time to ask.
Warren’s surgery had taken three hours to complete. He was in a coma when he got wheeled out of the
operating room.
Amelia insisted on accompanying Warren to the ward.
Warren’s ward was next to her ward. They seemed to be arranged on purpose.
“Amelia, the doctor said that while Warren has more injuries, they aren’t critical: His bleeding has been
stopped, and with some time, he should wake up. You should get some rest. There are nurses and
caregivers here to look after him,” Rosalie persuaded.
Amelia shook her head and said, “I want to stay here for a while. You can go back first. I appreciate all
your help today.”
“But you…” Rosalie was still concerned
“My mom will bring Aiden here later. Besides, you said that there are caregivers and nurses here. I’ll
only sit here for a while.” Amelia reassured, “I won’t overexert myself, and I won’t take any risks that will
harm my unborn child.”
