He’s here again
I attempted to force a smile despite the pity evident in Almira and Rachelle as they awaited our arrival. They hugged me, encouraging me not to cry, but my tears flowed uncontrollably. I felt exceptionally exposed when it came to him.
Heather promptly joined Myrrh to engage in a play.
“Please stay in the room, alright?” Almira instructed. She didn’t want her child to go outside and be around other people. Mira, too, preferred not to interact with or be observed by others. They were in hiding, which is why their presence caught me off guard.
I wouldn’t have cried if they hadn’t insisted on going over the events again. I was frustrated with the repetitive nature of the story, including the details of how we became a couple. They laughed when I expressed my annoyance. I knew they did it deliberately, but I’m not sure for what reason.
I scowled, crossing my arms. “Let’s not discuss him! It’s getting on my nerves!”
They burst into laughter. “That’s one of the steps to move on-refusing to talk about him because it bothers you.”
I rolled my eyes. Now, I’m thoroughly irritated.
“Oh, where are you off to?” they inquired as I rose from my seat.
“Upstairs!”
“Tsk! Hang around for a bit. It’s a shame for Mira to make the journey all the way here if you’re just going to leave us.”
I settled back into my seat. The three of us sat cross-legged, and we lapsed into silence for a few minutes.
“Let’s grab a drink!” suggested Rachelle.
“Absolutely!” concurred Mira.
“Huh? What about our kids? It would be fine if we didn’t have kids. Besides, it’s been a while since I last drank; I’m sure I can’t handle alcohol well anymore.”
“Somebody will look after them. Come on,” Rachelle insisted. Almira nodded. Why does it feel like they’re the ones dealing with an issue or brooding over something, not me?
“And it’s healthier to embrace the pain than to force yourself to avoid it and distract yourself with other things to forget. It doesn’t work that way. It’s better to let yourself cry about it.”
How am I supposed to cry? I’m annoyed and irritated about the topic of Ivan. I’m fine; I can handle this. Can’t I?
“What?” the two insisted.
“Never mind. But I won’t drink. Heather might say something later about her mom being a drunkard.”
They summoned Heather and Myrrh. Mira said her goodbyes to her child.
“You need to eat and sleep alone, okay?”
I massaged my temples and shook my head.
“Okay, mommy! I’ll sleep beside Heather and Aunt Lucy!”
“Okay! That’s my girl!”
Heather was then addressed.
“Heather, your aunt and your mom will just have a girl’s night… Oh, an adult girls’ night, okay?”Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
My child smiled. “Okay, if that will make Mommy happy.”
I really have the sweetest angel. So proud of my baby.
We provided Lucinda and another maid with directions and arranged for hotel food delivery for them. We plan to enjoy drinks in one of the cottages, and if we get too intoxicated, we might even spend the night there.
We gathered alcohol, ice, and fruits, and took some easy-to-cook food from the fridge. Before going to the cottage, we made sure to check on the kids in the room.
Initially, we maintained silence, but after a few shots, Rachelle began expressing herself with poetic lines. Almira and I exchanged glances, recognizing that our issues were apparent, yet it seemed that Chelle’s emotions ran even deeper.
“Drink whatever it is!” I handed her a drink because her sentiments were becoming bothersome. I couldn’t find my moment. I couldn’t delve into my profound thoughts because she had already claimed them all.
By eight in the evening, we were all a bit tipsy. We also engaged in some karaoke, but we avoided sad songs as Rachelle was in tears.
“Hey, are you alright? We’re getting curious about your behavior,” I teased her.
“I’m fine! Just leave me alone; I’m just too affected by what you two are going through,” she replied.
I eyed her suspiciously.
“Nothing, seriously!”
She grabbed the mic. I couldn’t sing anymore as her behavior distracted me. She sang ‘Born This Way’ and danced.
“You seem to be into clubbing, huh? Why not give your club a try tonight?”
I shot Almira a disapproving look. I was already feeling guilty after drinking here, and now she was suggesting going to a bar? Besides, the club was crowded, and this girl was undeniably drunk.
“Yeah!” Chelle quickly dropped the mic.
“Come on, I have some sexy clothes in my room.”
Her husband wasn’t around, giving her the confidence to extend such an invitation. He was overseas again, as usual. Most of their businesses were there, so he rarely stayed in the country, and the same applied to this island.
Their relationship appeared to be in good shape. They had decided to postpone having children for the time being. The man was affectionate, and whenever he visited the island, they would either seclude themselves in their room or spend quality time in the kitchen, cooking and sharing meals together.
I’m curious about what might be bothering them. Is there another woman involved? But could he manage an additional relationship given his hectic schedule?
I hope that if Rachelle is facing any issues, she’ll confide in me rather than deal with them alone.
I decided to wear a red silk, backless mini dress, while Mira chose a black silk ensemble that left almost her entire front exposed. Chelle, on the other hand, sported a crop top and a leather mini skirt.
We situated ourselves at a side table since it was the only available spot. The hotel and villas were nearly fully booked, so it came as no surprise that the bar was bustling with people.
We placed our drink orders. Due to the amount of alcohol I had consumed, drowsiness was setting in, and if it weren’t for the two of them giggling and laughing, I might have drifted off right there in my seat.
“Come on, let’s hit the dance floor!” Rachelle encouraged us, drawing us into the vibrant ambiance. She danced with great enthusiasm, her mind swirling with lively ideas fueled by intoxication.
She even took it a step further by climbing up on the stage. Noticing that Almira and I were still on the floor, she descended to coax us up and join her in the spotlight.
Grabbing the microphone from the DJ, she addressed the crowd, “Hey, everyone! I just want you to meet my friend, Myla! She’s currently in the process of getting an annulment from her ex-husband, so we’re here to celebrate. To all the single guys out there, she’s open to being courted!”
The men in the club were shouting, and I simply laughed. I couldn’t reprimand Chelle since I was quite drunk myself. Some individuals retrieved their smartphones and aimed them at us on stage. Despite covering my face in embarrassment, I was aware that they had already snapped pictures of us.
We descended from the stage, the three of us, and returned to the dance floor, initiating a dance session.
We resembled three individuals who had just escaped captivity.
I laughed and moved to the music, executing the perfect steps-one to the right and the other to the left.
“I’m exhausted; let’s head back to our seats,” I suggested.
Chelle didn’t immediately join us, so Almira and I pulled her along. We ordered drinks again, but this time with lower alcohol content, as I was concerned about being able to rise the next day. I still had a child to look after.
We placed a few more orders as the two weren’t ready to leave yet. The drinks weren’t too strong, so I decided to join them in drinking.
“Why?” I tapped Almira, who had been scanning the surroundings since earlier.
“I think I just saw someone I know.”
“Where?” I asked, looking around.
“I might be drunk.”
“This is the final round; let’s head home,” I declared to them.
Chelle became silent as well. It appeared she was contemplating something deeply. She ceased making comments and refrained from expressing her thoughts.
I picked up the glass of alcohol that she had ordered because it seemed like she had no intention of drinking it, so I decided to take it for myself. It wasn’t too strong, and it would be a waste if left untouched.
My eyes widened when someone snatched the glass from my hand. My jaw literally dropped when I recognized the guy standing beside me.
He’s not alone. He’s with his friends-Angus, Caius, Huxley, and Fourth.
What the hell is he doing here? Why are they here?
