The CEO’S Unplanned Heir novel (Aurelia and Leopold)

Chapter 57

Chapter 57

Leopold abruptly let go of his grip.

Aurelia conscientiously stepped back to a safe distance.

“Arno, Mr. Leopold is here for me. I have to go.”

A subtle shadow of melancholy flickered in Arnold’s eyes, silent yet profound.

“Leopold, I didn’t expect you to come all the way here to find Aurelia. She must be quite important to

you,” Arnold said, his tone laced with subtle sarcasm.

Leopold returned to his frosty poker face. “I value talent highly, and Aurelia is a designer which our

company wanted. She ran into some trouble yesterday, but I’ve sorted it out for her.”

Arnold turned his gaze towards Aurelia. “Are you okay now?”

“Yes.” Aurelia nodded, giving a shy smile. “Thanks, Arno. If it wasn’t for you, I would have been

sleeping on the streets last night.”

Arnold shrugged. “We’re friends. It’s only right to help each other out. If you ever run into trouble again,

you know where to find me.”

Aurelia felt a surge of gratitude. It was a blessing to have such a friend.

“I’ll cook dinner for you once we’re back home, as a token of my appreciation.”

As she spoke, Leopold’s gaze darkened. He had just cooled down from the frustration of searching for

her, and now it was creeping back up.

“It’s getting late. We should get going.”

“Alright.”

Aurelia waved goodbye to Arnold, following Leopold away.

Watching their retreating figures, Arnold’s eyes darkened, like they were stained by the twilight.

There were things he understood perfectly well, but chose to play dumb. That’s what made the

interesting!

Once in the car, Leopold passed a cup of juice to Aurelia. “Did you spill anything to Arnold?”

game

She quickly shook her head. “I kept my lips sealed. I only mentioned that I ran into some trouble, and

he didn’t probe further.”

Leopold believed her. She wasn’t that foolish. She was, after all, a cunning girl.

“Do you trust Arnold that much? Aren’t you afraid he’d take advantage of you?”

“Arno is a good person, a true gentleman,” Aurelia responded without hesitation. If she considered him

a good friend, she should have faith in him.

Leopold’s brows furrowed, a chill flashing in his eyes as irritation flared up in his heart.

“You need your eyes checked. The company covers medical expenses.”

Aurelia pouted. “Boss, can you stop being so paranoid? Yes, I had feelings for Arno before, but that’s

all in the past. If there was anything between us, I wouldn’t have come back with you. How nice it would

be to

He reached out abruptly, pinching her cheek. “Focus on your work and stop thinking about nonsense.”

Aurelia stuck out her tongue. “I’m a model employee. Money is precious, love is more so. If for the sake

of career, both can be thrown away.”

Leopold snorted, a mocking smile tugging at his lips.

Was this a joke?

How could a miser have the thought of giving up money?

As the car stopped at a traffic light, the driver, Kevin, turned to Aurelia. “Ms. Aurelia, Mr. Leopold was

really worried about you. He searched for you all day and night without even eating.”

Leopold glared, “Focus on the road, no unnecessary chatter.”

Taking advantage of the streetlight, Aurelia studied the man next to her. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

He did look a bit worn out.

But being the handsome man he was, Leopold still managed to be strikingly attractive, even with a hint

of fatigue.
