The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 169

Chapter 169

On the day after Christmas, once lunch was over, Adrian and Kendra showed up. Adrian behaved

humbly and respectfully, while Kendra kept eyeing Ronan's luxurious mansion.

"Mom, I'm here to see you. Actually, I got back yesterday but the house was all locked up. I figured you

might be with Della. This is my girlfriend, Kendra," Adrian introduced Kendra to Shelley.

Adrian scanned the whole mansion but didn't spot Ronan. Cordelia wasn't downstairs either.

Shelley didn't take a shine to Kendra. She thought the girl was a bit too flashy for her taste. She wasn't

into girls of that sort. Moreover, Kendra's gaze wandered around, clearly distracted.

But Shelley wasn't one to give people a hard time, especially considering her own son didn't turn out

great. She'd been bedridden for six years, and she had no right to criticize others.

"Alright." Having said that, Shelley handed Kendra a gift.

Shelley's money was all from Cordelia. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

Kendra felt the gift, didn't seem like much money. She looked down on Shelley a bit. Others would give

gifts of gold and silver, but she only handed over a bit of giftcard.

"Where's Ronan?" Adrian looked around, and didn't see Ronan. So he asked Shelley.

"He's probably in his study upstairs."

Without another word, Adrian headed upstairs. Shelley just lifted her hand to stop him, but Adrian didn't

pay her any mind. Shelley sighed, blaming herself for not raising her son properly. He had no manners.

Kendra, seeing Shelley in this state, looked down on her even more.

Adrian knocked on the door to Ronan's study.

The HR Department had sent Ronan the list of appointments and dismissals for the year, and he was

checking it out on his computer.

"Adrian?" Ronan seemed a bit surprised. He wasn’t a fan of Adrian, but Adrian was useful to him in

some ways.

"Ronan." As Adrian said that, he closed the door to the study gently behind him.

Cordelia had been reading in her bedroom. Hearing noises downstairs and in the study, she figured

there must be visitors, so she came out to check.

As she passed by the study, she overheard their conversation.

"That big house you gave me is really nice, but the property fees are a bit steep," Adrian said.

"Hmm, don't worry about the property fees. Someone else will handle them," Ronan replied, his hand

on his chin, flipping pages on the computer with the other.

"That's a relief." Adrian let out a sigh. This was the main reason for his visit today. A thousand bucks a

month for property fees, how could he afford that?

"Well, I didn't mention it before, but are you satisfied with how Jamie's thing turned out?"

Cordelia's ears perked up. They were definitely talking about Jamie and Manda's situation.

"Give me a heads up about these things in the future." Ronan said coldly.

"Will do," Adrian said cautiously, "I was the one who drugged him, but Jamie has always suspected it

was Manda from his office. Manda has always had a thing for him, and with Jamie drugged, it fulfilled

her wishes. I'm still in Jamie's good graces. Everything went without a hitch."

So it wasn't Ronan who arranged this, and he didn't know about it ahead of time.

Ronan didn't respond.

Adrian almost bumped into Cordelia as he left the study. She was standing there deep in thought when

Ronan also came out.

"You eavesdropping out here?" he asked Cordelia. His blunt question left her at a loss for words. After

fighting with him about this for so long, now finding out it wasn't his doing, Cordelia felt a bit guilty.

"Della, come here," Ronan called to the other side.

"Hmm?" Hearing someone call her, Cordelia instinctively responded.

"I wasn't calling you." With that, Ronan walked towards the black cat.

Cordelia was left speechless. By the time she got downstairs, Adrian and Kendra had already left.
