The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 185

Chapter 185

In the well-known Radiant Star Hotel in Millstone, Grant booked a single room where only he and

Ronan were present.

"Grant, how's your love life going?" Ronan asked in a teasing tone.

"Mr. Evans, don't make fun of me. My wife had an affair, and it was so embarrassing. But what could

she do? She's a woman with no money and no power. She's just asking for trouble, and no one's

stopping her. She even wants me to get back with her every day," Grant replied.

Ronan chuckled, "You handled it quite smartly."

"We're the same, you and I. How would you deal with this kind of thing? Since that woman left, I've

been living quite comfortably. Seeing her struggling makes me even happier. I heard her lover found

another rich woman and dumped her," said Grant. "I heard your wife is a good woman. This wouldn't

happen to you, right? I heard that your wife and Thomas' son..."

Ronan raised an eyebrow. "He's asking for trouble. I won't stop him."

"I know your resolve. Anyway, I wanted to tell you something today. Shayla passed away. Did you

know? She got sick in prison, and I'm worried someone might want to harm you," Grant told him

seriously.

"It's been so many years. I don't think it'll cause any trouble. I still have her recordings."

Grant nodded. "That's good. Back in the day, your dad's Signature Estates was so powerful, it was

about to become the biggest in Millstone. Thomas and the others were so jealous that they seduced

Shayla..."

"Let's not talk about it, let the past be the past," Ronan cut him off.

"All in all, be careful. Your wife can be with anyone else, just not with Thomas' son, isn't that asking for

trouble?" Grant expressed his dissatisfaction. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

"Who else could she be with but me?"

"That's true, as long as you can control her," said Grant. "Also, you set up the Audit Department, which

has caused a stir in Millstone. Are you taking other jobs?"

"Why, do you need an audit?" Ronan asked, twirling his teacup.

"Well, Mr. Evans, you're thoughtful. You knew Jordan was a problem and set up the Audit Department.

If it weren't for Jordan's great contributions in the early days of your business, who knows how he might

have failed under you." Grant seemed to be ashamed of Jordan. "By the way, I have an investment

company that needs auditing."

"No problem, I'll tell Wyatt."

"The son of the Colby family has been trying to get this job." Grant moved closer to Ronan. "You should

make him back off."

Ronan laughed. "Should I thank you for that?"

The two of them chatted a bit more about the business scene in Millstone. By the time Ronan was

ready to go home, it was already eleven at night.

Cordelia had gone to her mother's house for the night. Ronan suddenly felt the need to be with

someone close, to share some heartfelt words.

He drove to the neighborhood where Shelley lived.

At Shelley's place.

Cordelia sat on the sofa, holding a ring in her hand, dazed for a long time. The ring was an emerald

one, clearly with some history. Just now, Shelley told her that she wasn;t not her biology daughter, but

a girl found by Castiel.

Hearing this news from her mother, Cordelia was stunned for a while, finding it hard to believe, feeling

like she was dreaming. The woman in front of her was not her biological mother, and Castiel was not

her biological father either. How was Cordelia supposed to accept this? The home she thought was the

happiest, warmest, had no blood relation to her at all.

Tears streamed down Cordelia's face non-stop.

"Della, are you okay?" Shelley asked Cordelia in concern. "Today, I was going to call your grandmother,

but I dialed your aunt by mistake and asked her to pass the message to your grandmother. Your uncle

was there, and he said, 'Did Samantha really become the assistant to the big star Deanna?' I

immediately realized that Samantha must be stiring the pot. I know who Deanna is, but I don't know

how they met. I know Deanna likes Ronan, and Samantha has always been jealous of you. I've been

thinking about it, and I'm sure they'll use this to get at you. You need to think carefully about how to

deal with it."

Seeing Cordelia just sitting there in silence, Shelley tightly held her hand. Cordelia's hand was so cold

it hurt.

"For all these years, I've forgotten about this. You've always been my most obedient and sensible

daughter. If it weren't for Samantha's thing today, I would never have told you this secret. This ring was

the only thing you had back then. Now that your father is gone, this will remain a mystery. But I'm still

your mother. Don't let Samantha's words mess with your head."

Cordelia sat there, tears streaming down her face. She put the ring in the deepest pocket of her canvas

bag. As for the emerald ring, Cordelia didn't have much of an appreciation for it.
