The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 202

Chapter 202

Ronan was awake and on the phone and seemed to be saying he wasn't going to work today.

"Babe, your mom just made you some chicken soup. It's supposed to make you feel better." Cordelia

placed the soup on the bedside table and checked Ronan's fever. His forehead was still a bit warm.

"I ain't drinking that!" Ronan snapped.

"How come? Making this stuff ain't easy, you know. It takes over an hour. Your mom went through all

this trouble, just drink it. That's your mom we're talking about." Cordelia tried to reason with him, then

added, "I told you to take an umbrella when it rains, but nooo, Mr. Know-It-All over here knows better."

"I get it!" Ronan was getting pretty ticked off. Every time Cordelia mentioned the umbrella thing, he was

reminded of her dad. He thought she was trying to lecture him or something. He was getting all worked

up, so he just picked up a book and started reading.

"If I'm such a nag, I'll just leave then." Cordelia turned to leave, but Ronan grabbed her hand.

She turned back, "Drink it now."

Ronan gave her a look, then picked up the soup and drank it.

"Good boy." Cordelia patted his forehead.

"I drank it all, don't I get a reward?" He looked up at Cordelia.

"A reward?" Cordelia thought for a moment, then she sat on Ronan's bed and kissed him. The taste of

the soup, savoury and tasty, she shared it with him. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

After the kiss, Cordelia snuggled up to him, "I have to go to work soon. The Audit Department just got

the Proxima Ventures project. I need to do well."

Cordelia's gazes were bright and intense, as if there was an unbreakable bond between her and

Ronan.

"Have the driver take you." Ronan stroked her soft hair.

"Okay." Cordelia answered with a smile.

After Cordelia left, Janice looked at her in surprise, "Cordelia, did you drink that soup?"

"No, why?" Cordelia asked in confusion.

"Then what's that on your mouth..."

"Well." Cordelia quickly wiped off the residue on her lips.

Janice chuckled, "Did Mr. Evans not want to drink it so you fed it to him?"

"Stop joking around." Cordelia blushed, finding Janice's idea amusing.

On the way to work, Cordelia remembered Jamie's plan to go abroad and she felt a bit worried.

Bored in the car, she texted Jamie: [What's Manda gonna do when you're gone?]

"I wanted to arrange a job for her, but my father didn't agree. He wants her to find her own way." Jamie

replied.

"What are you going to do abroad?" Cordelia asked.

"I'm going to study. I might open an office there."

Cordelia thought to herself: Thomas was quite the hard-ass. He probably hated Manda for hurting his

son, leaving her to fend for herself. With Brenda around, did Manda even stand a chance?

Brenda already had a grudge against Manda. Jamie probably felt guilty towards Brenda as well.

Thomas might be looking for a backup plan, worried that Jamie would be overshadowed by Ronan in

Millstone, unable to hold his head high. Once abroad, he'll finally be free.

They were all seasoned players.

After mulling over these things, Cordelia looked down and saw a message from Jamie that had been

retracted.

"What did you send?" Cordelia asked.

"Well, nothing. Sent it to the wrong person." Jamie replied.

Cordelia didn't think much of it.

When she got to the office and was about to get out of the car, Cordelia told the driver she would be

going home in the afternoon and he didn't need to wait for her.

"Do I need to let Mr. Evans know?" the driver asked Cordelia.

"Yeah, just tell him when you get back." Cordelia said, then headed into work.

The financials for Proxima Ventures were a mess, and this was Cordelia's first time dealing with all

these numbers on her own, so it was a bit stressful. It was not until six-thirty that she finally dragged

herself out of the office and headed back to Shelley's place, exhausted.
