Chapter 232

Chapter 232

"Maybe he should change its name," Ronan suggested. NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.

"What for?" Thomas was taken aback, not understanding why Ronan was even meddling with the

naming business.

"I. Don't. Like. It," Ronan articulated, each word punctuated for emphasis.

Thomas chuckled awkwardly, thinking to himself, “It’s not your firm, man. So bossy and intimidating.”

"Well, Jamie might be my son, but he doesn't always listen to me." Thomas pointed out.

"Try to get him to change it," Ronan said before he left.

When Cordelia was four months pregnant, she started working at First Enterprises. She was carrying

twins and was visibly pregnant.

In the end, Jamie did not change his name, even though Thomas had slapped him, he didn't change it.

He was very fond of the name First Enterprises.

As one of the partners, Cordelia had her own spacious office. It was much bigger compared to her

office when she was at Lumos Enterprises’ Audit Department. After all, back then, she was only an

assistant.

She couldn't stand the boring days at home, and given her strong ambition, she started networking for

business as soon as she started working.

At lunchtime, Brenda brought her a business deal, the audit of Elite Designers.

PrimeNumbers Accounting and First Enterprises were two companies under the same legal entity. As

the year-end approached, PrimeNumbers Accounting had so many cases that they couldn't handle

them all. Elite Designers was a big client, so Brenda handed the business to First Enterprises. Jamie

would give her a portion of the commission. This kind of work, where she didn’t do much but still got a

commission was naturally something Brenda welcomed.

Cordelia coming to work at First Enterprises was a joy for Brenda.

"I always wanted to be your colleague and wanted you to work at PrimeNumbers Accounting. See how

it turned out? You ended up working here, right? And you ended up with Jamie, didn't you?" Brenda

said, winking at Cordelia.

Cordelia wanted to argue but felt it was pointless, so she didn't say much. However, she was very

interested in the Elite Designers project. It was a big project that would keep her busy for a while.

Brenda said the CFO of Elite Designers was her old classmate, and she had already discussed it with

him. Cordelia could contact him directly.

One day, Cordelia called the CFO. "Mr. Everett, hello, I'm Brenda's colleague, Cordelia. She introduced

me to your company's project. When would be a good time for me to pick up the documents?" Cordelia

was now a partner, not only providing technical support but also responsible for networking. The money

was more, but so was the responsibility.

"Well..." the man on the other end said, "Ms. Haselwood, if you had called yesterday, I would have

personally delivered the materials to you. But today, our boss has given the project to the president of

Lumos Enterprises. I can't go against him.”

"Oh?" Cordelia furrowed her brow.

"I promised Brenda, and I should not go back on my word, but what can I do when the boss steps in?

I'm sorry, Ms. Haselwood, there's nothing I can do. I'll see if there's another opportunity next time."

After the call, Cordelia pondered for a long time. This was the first case for First Enterprises. If they

gave it up to Lumos Enterprises, all potential clients would follow suit and choose not to cooperate with

First Enterprises. In the long run, First Enterprises would definitely go bankrupt.

Cordelia was no longer on a fixed salary but on a commission basis.

Moreover, when did Ronan start snatching deals himself? If he was competing, was there any room for

Cordelia to survive? Was he trying to drive the Haselwood family to ruin?

Jamie passed by Cordelia's office and saw her brooding. He came in to ask her what the matter was.

Cordelia recounted everything.

"This?" Jamie didn't seem to mind. "There are so many companies in Millstone. It’s not like there's only

one. From now on, I'll take care of the business, and you focus on the execution of the projects, okay?"

"Okay," Cordelia agreed, although she still felt uneasy. As long as Ronan made a move, she wouldn't

be able to get away unscathed.

Sure enough, things did not go as well as Jamie had predicted. In the following days, every time Jamie

contacted a business, everything seemed to be going smoothly at first, but in the end, the deal would

inevitably fall into Ronan's hands. Lumos Enterprises was a large and well-known company with a

reputable Audit Department in Millstone, naturally attracting more clients.

By the end of the year, First Enterprises had not secured a single deal. Cordelia didn’t earn a penny in

commission and was looking at a famine year, running out of resources. She knew that Ronan was

probably targeting her.

Now that Cordelia was pushed to the edge, even if Ronan wasn't coming at her, she wanted to go after

him. He killed her mother, and what right did he have to deny Cordelia a way to survive?
