Chapter 257
Chapter 257
Cordelia snapped out of her reverie and focused on the card game at hand. Despite her efforts, though,
it was Edwin who won the round.
"Seriously, not a single win? Hey Ronan, wanna give it a shot?" Emerson asked, looking over at Ronan
lounging on the sofa.
Cordelia furrowed her brows, casting a glance at Ronan.
Would he? Wasn't Ronan always buried in books? Could a scholar play cards?
Without a word, Ronan took Emerson's place at the table. Cordelia noticed that Ronan played steadily,
and as the game neared its end, his attacks became more aggressive. Unable to keep pace, Cordelia
felt the pressure, Brooklyn was constantly complaining, and Edwin kept saying, "I'm doomed. Can't
even catch a break."
In the end, unsurprisingly, Ronan won. Reluctantly, Cordelia transferred a thousand bucks to him. She
had assumed Ronan wouldn't be able to play, but he turned out to be a pro. After losing several rounds
and transferring several thousand bucks to Ronan, Cordelia felt disheartened and decided to stop. She
sat down on the sofa and turned on the TV, and everyone else stopped playing as well.
After some chitchat, everyone started to leave. Soon, Janice also came out, saying she needed to
head home. "Janice, you're leaving too?" Cordelia asked in surprise. If Janice left, it would just be her
and Ronan at home.
"Yeah, I’ll spend some time with my family. I’ll be back in a few days. Take care, Cordelia," Janice
reminded Cordelia.
After everyone left, the laughter and chatter were replaced by an eerie silence that filled Cordelia with
unease. As she was about to retreat to her room, her face was gently turned towards Ronan, who was
suddenly kissing her.
Cordelia instantly realized what was happening! Was it because of her saying, a smart person does not
dwell on past actions?
He was so vengeful, biting her like that. She tried to break free, but her condition didn't allow it. Her
head tilted, and her hands were cradling her belly, while he kissed her.
But Cordelia wouldn’t give in easily. She missed her mother terribly this past year, and the more she All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
missed her, the more she hated him.
One of Ronan's hands moved around her to support her belly. He kissed Cordelia fiercely, biting her
tongue. Cordelia winced in pain, her brows knitted together, and she let out a little whimper.
“I don’t just play cards, I play hardball!” Ronan growled at Cordelia.
Cordelia turned to face him, her chest heaving with anger. "You think you can just have your way with
me? I swear, I'll jump off the balcony," Cordelia warned.
"If you jump, I'll throw your son and daughter off as well," Ronan said through gritted teeth.
For the past year, Cordelia had despised Ronan. Because of what happened between her and Jamie,
Ronan despised her too. And he had just found out that Cordelia was carrying twins for Jamie.
That man, how lucky he was! Ronan was filled with hatred.
Hearing Ronan's threat, Cordelia felt her legs go weak, and her face turned as white as a sheet.
Knowing how ruthless Ronan could be, she believed he was capable of carrying out his threat. He
might have even ensured she disappeared without a trace. Fear turned Cordelia's mind blank.
Ronan took advantage of her trembling and scooped her up into his arms. Once he lifted her, he
realized she had gained weight, making it harder for him to carry her.
Inside Cordelia's room, Ronan laid her on the bed. Cordelia curled up, watching as Ronan started to
undress, unbuckling his belt.
"What are you doing?" Cordelia asked.
"All these times we've done it, and you still don't get it?" Ronan sneered at her.
"I swear…”
"Stop with the empty threats, or I might just do what I said," Ronan said indifferently.
Cordelia glared at him, her eyes filled with hatred.
