Chapter 267
Chapter 267
Upon returning home, Cordelia retreated to her bedroom, drafting a letter to UC Davis. She had
received their offer, and would be attending on time. Additionally, she requested that her physical offer
letter be mailed to Taylor.
The door creaked open and in strode Ronan. Cordelia startled, quickly shutting her laptop.
"Take your medicine," Ronan instructed.
Cordelia, still apprehensive, thought to herself, that living with Ronan day in and day out was
exhausting. It was only a matter of time before he scared her sick.
"You're...leaving tomorrow, right?" she asked him tentatively.
"You're eager, aren't you?" He left the water and medicine on her desk, speaking nonchalantly.
"Of course not, I just wanted to know," Cordelia replied.
At some point, a barrier had formed between Cordelia and Ronan, and their conversations had become
awkward and distant.
That night, Ronan cooked dinner, after which Cordelia went to bed. But as she closed the door, Ronan
came in. Their eyes met, but Cordelia didn't say anything.
"Can we not do it tonight?" she pleaded, looking up at him.
"Fine."
Due to her pregnancy, Cordelia was uncomfortable and tossed and turned in bed.
"Stop moving!" Ronan held her close, commanding her.
Cordelia thought to herself, it must be the kids in her womb causing all this discomfort. It was his
insistence on sleeping here and now he wasn't letting her move. She was careful, fearing any
movement would stir his desires. As a result, he didn't sleep well.
The next day, when Ronan was ready to move out, Cordelia felt a strange surge of excitement.
As Ronan was dressing, he glanced at Cordelia, who quickly composed herself, reigning in her
expressions.
Around ten, Janice arrived. Janice lived in the suburbs of Millstone. She brought a lot of local produce
for Cordelia. After putting down the groceries, she started cooking for Cordelia.
Ronan told Janice that he was leaving. Cordelia didn't utter a word of courtesy; she was busy eating.
She was afraid that her polite words would make Ronan stay, and he would take them seriously.
As Ronan got into his car, he immediately called his assistant asking them to check on two things and
to have Kitty come to Garden Estates in the afternoon to give Cordelia a private lesson.
Cordelia finally relaxed, the tension easing away.
"Janice, how was your trip home for the holidays? Isn't your son about to take his tests? How's his
revision going?" Cordelia asked, feeling more at ease.
"His studies are going well, and whatever college he gets in, I'll be pleased. I'd be overjoyed," Janice
said, genuinely content when she talked about her son.
Cordelia thought about how parents always wanted the best for their children. But she wasn't Ronan's
child, so when her offer came, he deleted it. Thinking about this made her feel a chill in her heart. If it
was her mother, she would undoubtedly be overjoyed.
In the afternoon, Tristi brought Kitty over. Before coming, Kitty had added Cordelia on Messenger.
Kitty was in her forties, affable and graceful, with a delicate figure. Knowing it was Cordelia's first time
training, she had brought her yoga clothes and a mat.
"Thank you, Kitty. You're so thoughtful," Cordelia said. "How did you know my size?"
Kitty smiled, "I'm not a fortune teller, Mr. Evans gave me your size and I bought it for you."
Cordelia was slightly taken aback, her heart unconsciously fluttering.
"Speaking of which, our yoga class at Lumos Enterprises hasn't been long established. Since I joined,
I've never seen Mr. Evans smile. Only yesterday, when he mentioned you, did he crack the smallest Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
smile," Kitty said, showing with her fingers just how minuscule it was.
Cordelia thought to herself, “He doesn't even know the baby is his. What's there to smile about?”
Kitty started coaching Cordelia. Cordelia was young and although she was not accustomed to it at first,
she learned quickly. Before leaving, Kitty and Cordelia agreed that she would come every day at two in
the afternoon for an hour-long session.
Ever since Ronan moved out, Cordelia suddenly found her mindset had changed, she was no longer
tense, and her days were leisurely.
She suddenly found that living alone was surprisingly liberating.
