Chapter 285
Chapter 285
The next day, Ronan was already out of bed when Cordelia awoke. He called her around eleven in the
morning. "Still in bed?" He asked. NôvelDrama.Org content.
"No, I'm up. What's up?" Cordelia asked.
"I left some merger paperwork in my room, along with a flash drive. Can you grab them for me?" Ronan
requested.
"Can't someone else do it?" Cordelia, heavily pregnant and feeling lethargic, wasn't particularly keen on
moving.
"No, Janice wouldn't know where to look." Ronan said.
Cordelia messaged Tristi and then went to retrieve the documents from Ronan's room. She arrived at
Lumos Enterprises and asked Tristi, "Could you take this up to him?"
Remembering a previous conversation she had overheard in the restroom, Cordelia wasn't exactly
eager to go up herself. Plus, she had no intentions of working at Lumos Enterprises in the future, so
there was no need for her to make her presence known just yet.
"Oh, ma'am, Mr. Evans specifically asked for you to deliver it personally. I'd accompany you, but I have
to fetch something from elsewhere." Tristi said.
Left with no choice, Cordelia took the documents and went up herself.
Ronan was in the middle of a meeting. The boardroom was filled with executives. Cordelia knocked on
the boardroom door. A stern "Come in" ushered her into the room.
The gaze of the room's occupants fell on her. Cordelia felt a pang of discomfort, made worse by her
prominent belly.
Ronan sat at the head of the table. Cordelia handed him the documents, "The paperwork you forgot."
Noticing the look on Cordelia's face, Ronan gave her a light slap on the backside, "Still sulking over last
night?"
"No, not at all." Cordelia hastened to say.
"Tristi's left. Go wait in my office. We'll have lunch together." Ronan said.
Cordelia frowned slightly, wondering what was Ronan playing at. She suspected Ronan had purposely
asked her to come to make a point to everyone., to show them that the baby was definitely his!
Otherwise, he would've discarded Cordelia by now. Instead, their relationship seemed to be going
strong. This was his way of clearing his name.
Moreover, he emphasized the phrase last night in front of everyone. This sent the executives'
imaginations running wild.
After leaving the office, Cordelia thought to herself that, with Tristi gone, she had no way of going back
to Garden Estates alone. Even taking a taxi didn't seem safe to her.
His office door was unlocked, so Cordelia went in.
Around noon, Ronan returned to the office after the meeting. Soon, lunch was brought in. Cordelia,
who was starving, ate hungrily.
"After lunch, go to the Audit Department and practice yoga with Kitty. We'll go home together later."
Ronan told Cordelia.
"Okay. You didn't really need to call me here, though." Cordelia responded, implying that since she had
no plans to work at Lumos Enterprises, so there was no need for him to keep her involved.
"Is that so? Let's eat." Ronan said.
She had made up her mind to study abroad, a fact Ronan was well aware of.
Cordelia began to eat, her hair obscuring her eyes.
"Cordelia, there are some things that need to be said. Don't you feel uncomfortable keeping it all
inside?" Ronan suddenly leaned back on the couch, looking deep in thought.
"What needs to be said? I don't know." Cordelia's eyes showed a hint of panic. Could he already know
that the baby was his? Impossible. He had no way of finding out. Most paternity tests were conducted
without the fathers' knowledge.
Cordelia's panicked look gave her away. Ronan was even more certain: the baby was his. Now he was
97% sure. The remaining 3% was due to her stubborn silence.
"I won't pressure you. You can wait here or take a nap. I need to work." After saying this, Ronan had
the leftovers cleared away and Cordelia lay down on his couch.
Ronan brought her a blanket and laid it over her. Cordelia lay with her back to him, eyes wide open.
Her phone beeped, and she picked it up. It was a message from Taylor: [Cordelia, your offer letter has
arrived. We'll meet again in January. A bright future awaits you, Cordelia. Your life is about to take off.]
Seeing the message, Cordelia smiled. She wouldn’t worry about her undergraduate degree, and she
wouldn’t have to feel inferior in the workplace. She was excited to start. She even made a fist and
cheered herself on.
“I’ve received my offer letter. I definitely plan on studying abroad. I don't want to carry this
undergraduate degree for the rest of my life." Cordelia's words were clear to Ronan, even though her
back was turned. She reiterated her resolve.
"You only need to say it once. Repeating it doesn't make it any more convincing." Ronan's voice was
indifferent.
Feeling embarrassed, Cordelia realized that repeating it didn't make any difference to him. It only made
her feel more secure.
Around 1:45 pm, Cordelia got up and said, "Kitty asked me to come for yoga. I'll be heading up."
Cordelia now was radiant, a stark contrast to how she appeared earlier.
"I'll come find you later." Ronan said.
"Okay." With that, Cordelia closed the door to Ronan's office. She changed into her yoga outfit.
Being heavily pregnant, she was only wearing a sports bra and yoga pants, her belly bare.
Under Kitty's guidance, Cordelia practiced diligently. Sweat beads formed on her forehead and dripped
onto the yoga mat.
