Chapter 293
Chapter 293
After work, Ronan came upstairs to see Cordelia. He frowned slightly at the sight of the soda on her
desk.
"Another soda?" He asked.
"I felt like having one," Cordelia answered, alternating between her work and talking to Ronan.
Just as she was about to take the soda, Ronan swiped it away. "Why do you have to chime in on
everything? From what I wear to what I drink, is there anything you don't meddle in?" Cordelia abruptly
looked up and challenged him.
"So you're doing this to spite me?" Ronan questioned.
"I'm not spiting you. I just like soda." This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Suddenly, the stern expression on Ronan's face softened. "Go ahead, drink it."
His unexpected response left Cordelia puzzled. Was he not interfering anymore? With him backing off,
the rebellious thrill of drinking it was gone. She was like a child. When Ronan tried to control her, she
rebelled. When he stopped, she found her rebellion pointless.
So what was he really up to?
Cordelia didn't manage to elicit the response she wanted from her testing. Instead, she felt quite
uneasy.
"I'll wait for you here," Ronan said, settling down on a couch next to her in the office. He casually
picked up a copy of the Audit Department's monthly report and began to read.
"We're having some problems with the audit. I'll take it home and think it over," Milana really knew how
to read the room and decided to take the materials back home to work on.
With Milana gone, only Cordelia and Ronan were left in the office. Feeling uneasy, Cordelia wondered
what Ronan was up to. Her mind was no longer on her work.
"Why aren't you drinking?" Ronan's gaze shifted from the report to Cordelia.
"I'm working. I don't have time."
Ronan chuckled knowingly. He guessed that Cordelia was drinking soda out of spite and to gauge his
reaction, to see if he knew about the baby.
If the baby wasn't his, he wouldn't interfere. From this, Ronan was certain the baby was his. Why else
would she try to provoke him?
She was playing games, and he would wait for her to admit it. Trying to outwit him? She was out of his
league. He would wait for the day when Cordelia would tell him herself.
Cordelia finished her work and started packing up.
"You didn't finish your soda. Why not?" Ronan pointed at the two cups of soda and asked.
"It's not cold now. I don't want it anymore." After saying this, Cordelia threw the soda into the trash can.
This time, Cordelia's attempt to probe backfired, and Ronan countered her, leaving her feeling
discouraged.
Using soda o to test him was juvenile. He might just want to control her to satisfy his desire for
dominance. Whether or not the baby was his might not matter at all.
While she was on her way downstairs, Cordelia received a call from an unknown number. She thought
that it was a spam call, but when she answered, it turned out to be Sienna.
"Della, your grandma and I have moved to Millstone. She's been asking to see you. When can you
come visit?" Sienna asked in an unfriendly tone.
The sound of Sienna's voice instantly annoyed Cordelia, but she was unaware of her grandmother's
move to Millstone.
"How about after lunch this Saturday?" Cordelia would never eat Sienna's cooking again.
"Make it soon. Your grandma isn't doing well. Every day counts," Sienna added. "I'll have Samantha
send you the address. I don't have your contact."
Cordelia paused, feeling a pang of sadness at the thought of another family member leaving.
"How about this afternoon?" Cordelia suddenly realized that Sienna wouldn't have called unless it was
necessary.
"Right. Don't forget," Sienna confirmed.
Her phone beeped. It was a message from Samantha with the address.
[Are you coming to our place this afternoon?] Samantha messaged Cordelia.
[Yes. I want to see Grandma.] Cordelia didn't want Samantha to know she was visiting, but it seemed
like she couldn't hide it.
Samantha didn't say anything more. Cordelia had the feeling that she was brewing some sort of
scheme.
She thought: I must be very careful when I go to Sienna's house.
She wanted Ronan to accompany her.
"Can you come with me to visit my grandma?" Cordelia asked Ronan.
"Where does your grandma live?" Ronan asked.
