Chapter 299
Chapter 299
Cordelia had just finished her meal and was heading to her bedroom to change clothes. The door was
slightly ajar, leaving a thin slit of visibility.
As Ronan stepped inside, she was in the midst of changing into her undergarments. But seeing
Ronan's gaze, she didn't shy away. After all, she had made up her mind to tell him that the child was
his; there was no point in hiding anymore.
She, along with her two babies, belonged to him.
"Fancy joining me?" Ronan asked her.
"Hmm. Isn't it to save you on gas money? I work in the Audit Department. How much are you going to
pay me?" Cordelia questioned him.
"How much do you want?"
Cordelia pondered, "I work my butt off. You can't shortchange me. I used to earn twenty thousand a
month, so now, you have to at least give me twenty-five thousand, right? I can still work for a month
and a half, and that’s forty thousand."
"Deal." Ronan chuckled, perhaps at her "small ambitions".
As Cordelia tried to pull up her pants, she was so exhausted that she was panting heavily.
Ronan came over and helped her; Cordelia instinctively leaned on his shoulder. His helping her felt
somewhat instinctive.
After helping Cordelia into the car, Ronan headed to the driver's seat. "I have a lunch meeting, so I
didn't have Janice prepare my food. Sorry for wasting your generous offer," said Ronan.
"No problem," Cordelia turned her head towards the window, "Who are you meeting?"
"Grant. He invited me to lunch. That night you couldn't sleep, it was because of his handling of his ex-
wife."
Today, Ronan's lips were constantly curled up, with a subtle smile on his face. He even specifically
mentioned that night you couldn't sleep.
"How did he handle his ex-wife?" Cordelia asked, her face slightly flushed from the explicit reminder of Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
her sleepless night. She felt so weak, having just been back for a short time, and already missing him
to the point of insomnia. She had already put Shelley's hatred behind her.
"Stripped her naked. Made her lose her dignity in front of everyone in Millstone."
Cordelia furrowed her brows, "Stripped her? You saw that?”
"Yeah. But you're prettier."
Cordelia was embarrassed and blurted out, "Screw off."
"How could Grant be so nasty? You must be his accomplice, right?" Cordelia asked him.
"Isn't a woman cheating nasty?"
"If she's guilty, let the law judge her. Not Grant."
"If you ever do the same, I'll treat you the same way."
"How could you!" The thought of standing naked in front of a group of men sent chills down Cordelia's
spine.
"Then why don't you try it."
"We're already divorced." Cordelia retorted.
"That reminds me. If you want to remarry, just say it, why beat around the bush?"
"I..." Cordelia was left speechless by Ronan's rebuttal. She frowned, thinking: he must have known
about the babies already, otherwise, she would have been dead a long time ago. He wouldn't tolerate
Cordelia to this day.
Cordelia closed her eyes to rest, no longer speaking.
Upon reaching the office, Ronan directly took her to the top floor. Then, instead of returning to his
office, he went out to meet Grant.
Grant's car was already waiting for Ronan at the door, so Ronan didn't drive, and directly got into
Grant's car.
"I saw you helping Mrs. Evans upstairs earlier. You two seemed pretty close," Grant started the car,
"But Mr. Evans, you should keep your guard up, what if you end up raising someone else's child?"
"I won't let things get to that point."
"Even if it doesn't, doesn't it bother you that she slept with another man?" Grant continued.
"She didn't." Ronan said with certainty.
"Hopefully not. Crystal, that slut, is so shameless. She can't compare to a tender and delicate lady like
Mrs. Evans."
Ronan just smiled. Was she really a delicate flower? He could even see that if one day, he really did
that to her, she would bite him to death.
"Where to?" Ronan asked him.
"I've booked a table at Bistro Belle. A high-end restaurant."
