The Day I Kissed An Older Man

Chapter 2739

Countless people wanted Sherman's number but could not get it. When Rita got it, all she felt was a heavy burden.

Rita hesitated for a moment before speaking.

Sherman picked up his phone and, upon confirming it was an unknown number, asked, "Telemarketing?"

Sherman's voice sounded like he was about to hang up the next second, but Rita quickly stopped him. "Don't hang up! It's me!"

Recognizing Rita's voice, Sherman chuckled with interest. He leaned back in his office chair. "Ah, Miss Rita, what brings you to call me?"

Somehow, Sherman's voice through the phone made Rita's face flush. "I-I wanted to ask you something, if you don't mind..."

"If you're worried it might be impolite, then perhaps it's best not to ask?"

Rita was anxious, afraid that he might just hang up the phone. However, Sherman had no intention of hanging up; he was simply enjoying teasing her. "But this is a question I must ask," Rita insisted.

Even Sherman was intrigued. He had only met Rita a few times, so what could be so pressing that she felt compelled to ask him? "I'm all ears," Sherman replied.

Rita took a deep breath, mustering

her courage, and held the phone

firmly as she asked, "Do you know about an incident in the commercial

district that Parr Group reng

to develop? There's a

haggard-looking homeless man

wandering around the area, claiming that Parr Group is responsible for destroying his home and family."Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Rita then held her breath. All she could hear was Sherman's faint breathing on the other end of the line.

"Hmm," Sherman finally responded after almost a minute, his tone unreadable. "So, Miss Rita, are you implying that Parr Group is somehow related to this homeless man?"

Rita immediately frowned and retorted, "Of course it's related! He used to have a house of his own on the land you're about to develop."

"Miss Rita, you yourself said he used

to own it. Why doesn't he have it now? It's because he accepted the developer's offer to move away from there. I don't understand why you're asking me about this. Do you expect me to solve the homeless man's housing problem after hearing his story, or do you think it's my fault he's homeless now?" Sherman replied coldly.

Rita instinctively wanted to deny it. After all, why did she even call Sherman? She just wanted an answer from him to confirm whether he was involved.

"So it really doesn't have anything to do with Parr Group? How could he lose his house if it weren't for Parr Group's development plans?" Rita muttered. She knew she was being spoiled, but she was dealing with Sherman after all.

Sherman's voice sounded

indifferent. "Miss Rita, you're quite

naive. It seems your father has sheltered you well. But everything should be considered in order. You're being really unreasonable right now. First, there's this land, then there's housing for him. It's

because he was willing to give up

his original house that this land ended up in the hands of the developer. And I won the bid for this land."
