The Divorced Heiress Is Entering a New Marriage

Chapter 110

Maria and I stood side by side, applying makeup in front of her dresser mirror. Rachel walked in and smiled at us.

“Aw, I feel like a proud mom whose daughter is getting ready for the prom,” she placed a hand over her heart. She looked at me. “Now you have her back by midnight and no later,”

“Hell no,” I said. “We are keeping the party going all night long.” I bumped Maria’s hip with mine.

Maria snorted. “Uh huh, Miss In–Bed–By–Nine.”

“That was one time after a really long day!”

I finished putting mascara on and stepped back to get a better look of myself. I didn’t even hardly recognize the woman staring back at me. Maria had styled my hair in a curly side pony and I had watched a tutorial on the best evening out smokey–eye makeup looks. Between that and my red lipstick, I was wondering if I could get away with hiding from Logan and Dylan in plain sight.

“How do I look?” I asked Rachel as I turned towards her.

Her mouth fell open. “Damn girl. You look amazing.”

I felt my cheeks warm. “Boys with numbers to get, here I come,” I said.

My phone buzzed on the dresser. I peeked over at it. It was a photo and text from Dylan. “See you soon!” He had sent. I ignored it.

Maria looked at the phone too. “Ooh, a picture from Mr. Hottie–pants.” She grabbed my phone to open it. I tried to snatch it away but she kept me at bay. “Damn girl, look at this man. How can you not be all over that all the time?”

She held up the phone so I could see the picture of Dylan, who was looking way too good in his suit.

“He hasn’t even kissed me,” I said, still reaching for the phone.

“Not yet he hasn’t,” she said. “Oh, hey, you have a smudge on your face. Let me fix it. Smile for me?”

I did as she said. She snapped a photo of my with my phone.

“Hey!” I protested.

“Can’t wait to see you either, winky face,” she said as she typed into my messages with one hand, still holding me back with the other.

“When did you get so strong??” I asked her, fighting with everything I had.

“And sent,” she said with a smile. “Here you go.” She handed my phone back to me.

“Gee thanks.”

Dylan and Logan stood side by side in front of Logan’s dresser mirror, straightening their ties. Dylan’s phone buzzed on the dresser. The both looked down at it. Logan raised one eyebrow.

“Why is my secretary sending you a picture?” Logan said with noticeable jealousy dripping from his words.

Dylan shrugged, struggling to hide his smile as he grabbed his phone to open it. His eyes grew wide when he saw how Hazel looked. “Damn,” he said under his breath.

Logan looked over at him, then stepped close to Dylan to look at the phone. His eyes also grew wide.

“Oh my god.”

The dinner party was held in a banquet hall at a local high–end steakhouse called

As

Maria and I were guided back to the hall by the hostess, I couldn’t help but be jealous of the rich people dining here as we passed by. I felt like I would never even come close to having the kind of money one needed to eat $50+ steaks. It didn’t seem fair.

pushed that thought from my mind. Tonight, dinner was on the client. Maria and I could fantasize about living like the 1% for one night at least. I linked arms with her and smiled.

“Dahling,” she said once we got to the banquet hall door. She held it open for me.

“Thank you, m’lady,” I said as I stepped through.

We paused momentarily in the doorway and looked around. We were some of the first to arrive it looked like, only a few of the seats were filled.

“Party foul,” I said to Maria. “We didn’t show up fashionably late like you’re supposed to at parties.”

“Argh!” Maria balled up her fists and threw them in the air. “What fools we are!”

“Ooh, buffet!” I spotted the buffet in the far corner of the room and made a beeline for it. Maria followed Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

close behind.

Since we were some of the first people there I was able to take a nice look at what the whole buffet h to offer before I committed to anything.

“See anything you like?” A male voice behind me said.

I spun around. It was an elderly gentleman in a suit. He was smiling at me.

“Oh! Um…yeah, it all looks great,” I said, flustered.

“I’m Greg,” he said. “I’m the president of Huckabee’s.” He took my hand in his and kissed it.

I looked at Maria with wide eyes. “Uh…nice to meet you Greg.” I pulled my hand away as soon as I was able, inwardly shuddering at the fact that I could still feel where his lips had touched it.“I’m Hazel, this is Maria.”

Maria gave him a small wave then held her hands behind her back. He gave her a nod.

“Uh..do you see anything you like?” I gestured towards the buffet. I desperately wished I could face palm. What made me say that?

“Oh, yes, I do,” he said, looking at me and smiling.

Maria leaned in to whisper in my ear. “He’s not talking about food anymore.

whispered back. “Yes, I got that, thank you.” I looked at Greg. “Well, enjoy the buffet, I think we’re going to …use the bathroom.”

I grabbed Maria’s arm again and we quickly walked in the opposite direction back towards the door we came in. I threw it open and we ran through. We leaned against a wall to the left of the door.

“I want first dibs at that buffet,” I said. “But I’m not sure it’s worth risking another run–in with Captain Pervert.”

“I think he’s President Pervert, technically,” Maria said, “But I did see some pretty great looking steaks out there.”

“Oh my god, those steaks looked so good. Okay, I think it’s worth the risk. Shall we?” I gestured towards. the door.

Logan and Dylan were walking towards the banquet hall door when they spotted Hazel and Maria next to it. Without a word to each other, they both froze and stared at Hazel. That picture she had sent didn’t do her justice. She was absolutely stunning with her hair and makeup done up, and in that beautiful flowy gown. Logan was picturing running up and kissing her again, and Dylan was kicking himself for not kissing her at the hospital when he had a chance.

Maria hit Hazel on the arm and pointed towards them. Hazel turned. Her cheeks flushed when she spotted the two of them. She rushed through the door to the banquet hall without acknowledging them. Maria gave them a small wave and followed her friend inside.

Dylan looked over at Logan, who was still fixated on the door Hazel had just gone through. He didn’t like that look of infatuation on his friend’s face at all.
