Chapter 63 Threats
"Of course, if you don't know how to behave, don't blame me!" Holly declared with a flick of her nails. "I couldn't care less if this little studio goes bankrupt!"
The threat hung heavily in the air, and Ranita felt the weight of the situation.
"Miss Stuart, your words are harsh! Even though you're a new shareholder, you should only be on equal footing with Ranita. Taking her office and demanding her to kneel? Who do you think you are?"
"I'm addressing Ranita, and I see no reason for your interruption," Holly replied coldly, casting a frigid gaze at Olivia. "You're fired!"
"I... I'm Ranita's assistant, not yours. You have no authority to fire me!" Olivia retorted.
Olivia had been by Ranita's side for a long time and was exceptionally skilled at her job. Ranita, naturally, came to her defense. "Holly, Olivia is my personal hire, and I pay her salary. You have no right to fire her!"
Holly was taken aback momentarily but quickly regained her composure. "Fine! Are your people off- limits, then?"
Ranita felt a rising sense of dread. Holly's deliberate provocations filled her with anxiety. The ongoing project was already an exhausting ordeal, and with daily studio troubles, Ranita felt overwhelmed.
After venting her frustrations, Holly departed triumphantly, leaving a tense atmosphere behind.
"Oh, and by the way..." Holly paused as she reached the door, turning back toward Ranita with an air of arrogance. "Do you know what my brother is doing now?"
"He's helping Shannon choose a dress! Tomorrow night at Boulderland Mansion, there's a welcome party for Shannon, and my brother truly cares for her."
Once Holly left, a heavy silence settled over the studio. Olivia poured a glass of water for Ranita and finally inquired, "Ranita, what should we do now?"
Taking a moment to compose herself, Ranita replied, "Rosie and Davion mentioned in our group chat that they've received termination notices." Rosie Langley and Davion Mccray served as assistants to Mia and Carl, respectively.
"They've gone too far! How could they do this..." Olivia sympathized with Ranita, but there was nothing left to say or do at this point.
Ranita was equally frustrated. "You go organize the documents and grab me some lunch." This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
"You haven't eaten yet, and it's already nearly two o'clock!" Olivia expressed concern as she observed Ranita's pale appearance. "I'll fetch your lunch right away, and if you're hungry, I have some snacks in my drawer."
Once Olivia left, the office was left empty. Ranita slumped onto the sofa, utterly drained. A throbbing headache tormented her, and waves of nausea swept over her. She couldn't help but spend a few minutes leaning over the sink, heaving from morning sickness, before eventually resting her head on her desk.
"At a time like this, can't you behave?" Ranita spoke to herself, rubbing her stomach gently. The baby, as inconvenient as its timing was, had decided to make its entrance.
"Knock, knock!" The sound of someone rapping on the door was followed by Dylan's laughter. "Who were you telling to be good?"
"Dylan? What are you doing here?"
"Olivia messaged me saying there was trouble at work... Is everything okay?"
There was trouble indeed, but Ranita struggled to explain it all. She slumped over her desk, revealing half of her face, which retained its enchanting beauty. Yet, a hint of sadness shaded her eyes, lending them a gentle and vulnerable quality, akin to a kitten's.
