The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage

Chapter 1973

"Alright, I'll be right there."

Winter did not complain at all as she scrubbed up and followed the attending physician into the operating room.

She actually flinched when she saw the terrible state Jolie was in as she lay bleeding and dying on the operating table.

"Prepare for surgery!"

However, Winter was not cowed, immediately knowing that they needed an open chest surgery to save Jolie.

As she worked gingerly, Frank arrived downstairs.

He had found out from Trevor Zurich that Carlo Group was a sizable faction in the midlands. In fact, they could be considered giants, being involved not just in pharmaceuticals, but also in tourism and finance.

There were even rumors that they had ties to Thousand Isles Guild of the South Sea.

In fact, Frank had come to the hospital precisely to assist in an ongoing investigation, calling in several police officers.

The body of Helen's alleged drunk driving victim was still here in the Zamri Hospital morgue, and he would prove Helen's innocence by examining the body with the officers.

"Savages."

One of the officers sighed as the body was taken out of the mortuary fridge.

They were certainly professionals, quickly recognizing that the body was not the victim of a car crash. Instead, the victim had been force fed copious amounts of poison before being used as a toxic gas bomb.

"I'm right, aren't I?"

Frank strode up, speaking calmly. "Ms. Lane isn't culpable for drunk driving. Instead, it's—"

"This doesn't prove her innocence," a policewoman writing in her notebook said, shaking her head. "We can only prove that the victim was poisoned and used as a carrier of toxic gas, and we can't start a case on top of that because of the hospital chief's interference."

"She needs to protect the hospital's reputation," Frank frowned as he pointed out.

"I'm well aware you don't have to remind me."

The policewoman looked up at him,

continuing coolly, "It can be

culpable for the victim's death, but it remains a fact that she was caught driving under the influence.

be released on bail as well."

"What..."

Frank was frustrated that the officers were not helping at all, but he nodded despite that for the sake of the big picture. "Alright, I'll ask someone to post bail."

Ring...

His phone rang just then, and he headed outside the morgue to answer it.

"How did it go, Frank?" Helen asked from the other end.

Frank sighed. "Well, I brought them along to check out the body. As it turns out, things are more complicated than I'd expected. There's

"Then what should we do?" Helen asked, flustered.

"Don't worry," Frank assured her. "I'll have someone post bail for you so you won't have to stay in a cell. Anything else can wait until after you return to Lanecorp."

"Yeah. Thank you, Frank."

They hung up soon enough, and Frank called Trevor again to send someone and post bail for Helen.

With that done, he was ready to return inside the morgue when he heard whispers.

"Well, I guess it's game over for Lanecorp."
