Chapter 2274
noveldrama
"Any other bids?" Ken asked calmly, looking around.
However, the threat in his words was clear. And if he did not worry about Uran, what were they, a bunch of town bigwigs, in comparison?
As everyone shook their heads, Ken nodded. "Alright, then Mr. Frankton's bid for the painting was successful. You may take it now, Mr. Frankton."
He waved his hand, and a pretty lady opened the glass box containing the painting and passed it to Frank with both hands.
He took it and abruptly sensed an unusual presence, but it was gone in an instant.
"Thank you, Mr. Zacek!" he said and got up to leave with Jada.
Ken was left staring in disbelief.
How was that possible?! The poison that he had put on the painting was very potent!
Even if it might not kill the man chosen by the Shagan spiritron vein, it would at least render him immobile, but Frank did not even twitch!
Meanwhile, Frank and Jada were soon back at Frank's office.
Putting the painting in front of Sylvie Wal, he asked, "Can you remove the outer layer?"
"Are you underestimating me now?" Sylvie giggled. "I'm not just great at restoring artifacts, but I'm good at forgery too!"
"What does this have to do with forgery?" Alda asked, confused.
"You don't get it, huh? Forgery started as early as seven hundred years ago. It's a skilled trade."
Alda remained bemused, while Sylvie went to work, peeling off a corner of the canvas with just her nails and nothing else.
Rip.
There was an audible tear as she pressed down the frame with one hand and pulled the canvas with the other, revealing the canvas underneath!
Jada saw that the artistic style was no different from the tomb murals and must have been rubbed off it. It had been a while and aged, but one could still make out the contents.
It turned out that after the hero
found out he could not leave
Shagan, he frantically searched for a solution. He was then told by a
shaman he should make countless human sacrifices, after which he left Shagan triumphantly, only to fall into pieces on the spot! Content belongs
The rest was unclear, but the one guarantee was that it was not a complete copy of the missing part of the mural. There were more vital details that were not included.
"Look, Mr. Frankton!"
et
Jada pointed at the part of the canvas depicting the sacrificial ritual. "Those lines... those must be the light of the ring, which means the ritual works, as it strengthens the ring's power! Shame that we don't have more details on the shaman... The way I see it, the hero couldn't leave because he hadn't made enough human sacrifices."
That had piqued Frank's interest too—even if he could not sacrifice innocents, no one said anything about not doing it to the baddies.
Still, he chuckled in wry amusement.
"You're really going down that path? Don't even joke about it-times have changed and the spiritron vein wouldn't win against guns or bombs no matter how strong it gets. I'd content myself with just a couple of Villains and not risk the wrath of the mob."
Jada nodded. "Makes sense. But even if they're hostile, we don't have the right solution, and we're far from getting what we want."
"Wait, doesn't Jouri have a special position among them?" Alda asked under her breath. "Why don't we ask her to help look into it? If anything, I think she knows more than what we do."
Frank considered it and nodded. "Then contact Jouri. Tell her to meet me at my office!"
Alda nodded and left to make the call.
What do you think?
