The Invincible Arthur Gardner

Chapter 60 - A Tasty Breakfast

Chapter 60 - A Tasty Breakfast

After his morning jog, Arthur returned to take a shower once again before changing into his comfy

home clothes. He then sat across from Edna at the dining table on the luxurious floor and enjoyed a

relaxing breakfast together, engaging in small talk.

Arthur remembered Marco's message the day before and immediately discussed it with Edna.

"Actually," Arthur said, "I was wondering if you could help me out with something."

Edna lifted her face and tilted her head, a questioning look on her face. "Yes, Boss?" she asked.

"Marco had challenged me to a car race and scheduled it for tomorrow," Arthur explained.

"He suggested three rounds, with each of us participating in one round. Whoever won the most rounds

would be declared the winner," he continued, pausing thoughtfully as he considered how he could win

at least two races by tomorrow.

"So, Boss," Edna said, "is there anything I can do to help you get ready for tomorrow's race with

Marco?"

Arthur tried to think of a way to refuse Marco's offer, but he knew that his refusal would make Marco

happy; after all, Marco had challenged Arthur to a race.

"If, for example, I can win one round," Arthur began, "then I need someone else who's good at racing to

win one more round."

"Do you think Marco has hired two professional racers to win this race, boss? Do we have to do the

same? If you need it, I can take care of it today and make sure that tomorrow we have two extra

participants for you,"

Edna asked, trying her best to provide a solution to the problem Arthur was facing. She knew that

Marco was out for revenge and wouldn't make it easy for Arthur to win the car race the next day.

Arthur was aware that the race he was about to have with Marco would probably be fruitless.

Nevertheless, a deep-seated resentment brewed in his heart against Marco. If Marco continued to pick

fights with him, Arthur was determined to utterly vanquish him and give him a humiliating defeat.

Arthur had ambitious plans to acquire Brown Company, the business where Marco works, and Arthur

himself formerly served as a janitor. His motivation was Brown Company's immense potential as a

construction and development company, which would make it easier for Arthur to implement his plans.

"Alright, then, Edna," Arthur began, his voice firm but friendly. "Do this for me: find two professional

racers to help me race tomorrow and find out how many shares of Brown Company are publicly traded,

then acquire all of them. Also, see if you can find me a way to fully acquire the company."

Edna looked a bit taken aback at Arthur's request but then recalled that he had done the same thing

when he acquired the Golden Park Restaurant and the Golden Park Hotel.

"No problem, Boss," she replied, her smile warm and reassuring. "I'll take care of everything you

asked."

Arthur remembered Alicia and looked up at Edna. "What about Alicia's condition?" he inquired,

concerned about her well-being after the previous day's events.

Edna smiled tenderly and nodded slowly. "She's a strong girl, she can still manage to smile despite the

hardships she's facing. I'm sure she'll make a full recovery. I woke her up this morning for breakfast, but

she wanted to do it alone, and I think she'll be coming over here soon." She elucidated.

"Good then," Arthur replied quietly with a smile.

At that moment, they noticed the elevator door in the far corner of the room opening, and out of it

stepped a girl with black hair dressed in her morning clothes.

"Alicia," Edna murmured under her breath, standing up from her chair. "Hi cutie, how are you feeling?"

she said with a warm smile as the girl approached her.

Alicia quickened her pace, and upon reaching Edna, she embraced her and rested her head on the

blonde's shoulder. Edna patted her shoulder kindly and ran her hand through her hair.

"Are you feeling better this morning?" she asked tenderly.

Alicia nodded, then let go of the hug and sat on the chair next to Edna. She then looked up at Arthur,

her sweet smile still present on her face. "Hi, Arthur Oppa," she greeted him.

Arthur frowned, dismayed by what he was seeing. "So when did you and Alicia get so chummy?" he

asked Edna.

Edna was an incredibly friendly girl and had an instant connection with almost everyone she met, yet

he was surprised to find that she and Alicia had established such a strong bond after spending only

one night together. Even though she had never previously met Alicia, Arthur was certain that they had

hit it off.

Edna then seated herself in her chair and beamed a cordial smile at Arthur.

"Edna is extremely amiable," Alicia replied to Arthur's query. "I'm not shocked as to why Arthur Oppa

employed her to be your personal assistant. You won't discover a female as affable and amiable as her

anywhere else," she responded with a slight giggle.

"And," Alicia continued, still giggling lightly, "she is also very beautiful and charming."

Edna smiled and patted Alicia's back. "Meeting her reminds me of my younger sister," she replied.

"Alicia is a very sweet girl, I like her too. Moreover, I must treat someone special who is under the

protection of the boss whom I respect and love the most, right?" she added, with a twinkle in her eye.

After chatting for a while, Alicia brought up the new job opportunity Arthur had offered her.

"I'm confident I can entrust this task to you, Alicia," Arthur stated. "What's your opinion?"

Alicia immediately gave a quick nod. "Ready boss, I'm ready to take on this task for you. You don't

have to pay me; I don't have a problem. Just getting a place to stay in this hotel is enough for me," she

said, then chuckled.

Arthur smiled at Alicia's response. "Did you know that the cost of staying in this hotel is quite high, © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Alicia? I think that's more than the salary you'll receive later," he remarked.

"Arthur Oppa," she continued, "don't tell me that you're trying to exploit me by offering me a place to

stay that's going to cost me a fortune... Arthur Oppa..."

They continued their breakfast that morning, and, for the first time, Arthur experienced a breakfast like

no other. He felt an overwhelming sense of joy with two people he trusted by his side, sharing jokes

and laughter.

"I'm sure this kind of breakfast would be even more enjoyable if Claudina could join us, right boss?"

Edna said to Arthur, flashing him a friendly smile.

"Kyaaa.... Claudina, I'm a huge fan of her; I would love for her to be here too," Alicia added, her face

filled with excitement.

Arthur kindly nodded at Edna and Alicia's words, "Yes, let's make this a regular thing in the future," he

said.
