Nathaniel gave a nod of approval. Indeed, it was in line with Freya’s taste.

Her sole interest lay in design, with other areas not quite falling within her realm of expertise.

A cold smile played on his lips. “This company seems to have a streak of good fortune. Perhaps we should consider a collaboration, a little bit of that luck might rub off on us.”

Nathaniel paused, “Let’s head back to the office. We have a traitor to unmask.” Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

Freya furrowed her brows but remained silent. She accompanied Nathaniel back to Technologent Group, taking the elevator straight to the chairman’s office on the twenty–eighth floor.

A few familiar faces were already waiting there. Freya had encountered them all before.

Hudson Martinez was one of Nathaniel’s most reliable employees, as was Xavier Perez.

This was Xavier’s first formal introduction to Freya, and he appeared slightly ill at ease.

Nathaniel had been relentlessly pressuring him over the past few days to recover the footage from the women’s prison, footage that was centered on Freya.

Regardless of her past hardships, Xavier couldn’t help but associate her with the person in the footage. Having played a role in the downfall of the Gomez family, Xavier was still grappling with feelings of guilt.

Some of the footage was being successfully restored, and it wouldn’t be long before Freya’s activities in prison were revealed.

However, Nathaniel had insisted on keeping this a secret. He didn’t want Freya to discover that he had. been probing into her past.

It was a frustrating situation. The two of them were constantly concealing things from each other and harboring suspicions, yet neither was willing to exit the other’s life.

Freya entered the office quietly, choosing a less conspicuous spot to sit. She didn’t acknowledge any of

Nathaniel’s associates.

These were the people who had contributed to her family’s downfall, and unless necessary, Freya maintained a cold demeanor towards them.

*Nathaniel, may I inspect Ms. Gomez’s laptop?” Xavier had been summoned by Nathaniel specifically for this task.

Everything seemned to revolve around Ms. Gomez. How exasperating.

Hudson retrieved the laptop from Freya and handed it to Xavier. Nathaniel instructed, his tone icy, “There’s a pinhole camera on the laptop. Extract the footage for me.”

approached Xavier, and the two began to converse in hushed. tones.

Freya, seated on the sofa, was growing increasingly bored. She had a habit of avoiding the windows whenever she visited the office, preferring to sit in a corner.

Nathaniel moved towards the wine cooler. He pulled out a carton of milk, warmed a glass, and handed it to Freya.

Freya looked at it, slightly taken aback.

Nathaniel’s wine cooler, once home to only liquor and cigars, now housed milk and a heating jug? It almost felt like he had prepared it specifically for her.

She quickly dismissed the thought. She was probably reading too much into it

Nathaniel did have feelings for her, but she doubted they extended to such thoughtful gestures.

“Thank you, Mr. Morgan.” Freya took a sip, the warmth spreading through her body.

After a few more sips, her stomach began to feel considerably better.

Ever since her release from prison, Freya had been battling a host of health issues, with her gastritis being particularly debilitating.

She had spent an extended period in the chilly convention center earlier that day, which had aggravated her stomach pain. The warm milk was a welcome relief.

Nathaniel poured himself a glass of red wine, reclining on the sofa in silence as he watched Xavier and Hudson.
