The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret

Chapter 396

The bedroom lights were dimmed, with light from the crystal chandelier in the living room seeping through the door crack. Occasionally, the faint clinking of tableware rang.

Freya got up from the bed and walked towards the door.

When she opened the bedroom door, she was stunned by the scene in front.

The villa was designed to accommodate the lifestyle of ordinary rural folks. The first floor had a large hall that could be used as a living room, with a designated space for a pool table. The second and third floors each had three bedrooms, with a small living room in the middle.

At this moment, Nathaniel had taken off his coat and was wearing just a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves. He sat on the sofa wearing a floral apron, making brownies, occasionally glancing at the Spring Festival Gala on TV, appearing quite absorbed.

Outside, firecrackers exploded again, and as he turned to look, he noticed Freya had woken up.

He quickly stood up and, smiling cautiously, "Is it too noisy outside? But it's Spring, it's unavoidable."

"If you're awake, stretch your legs, maybe go out to the balcony to see the view, or go to the study room on the second floor to read. I'm not sure what kind of books you like, so I just bought some randomly. The brownies will be ready soon, and I'll call you when they're done."

Freya felt a strange sensation in her heart. Since returning from Stanna this time, Nathaniel's behavior had completely overturned her previous image of him.

He had always been arrogant and domineering, with no concept of being cautious in his vocabulary. Yet this time, he was acting so carefully around her, and was afraid to upset her. He had indeed been through a lot because of her.

She felt somewhat uncomfortable. It was the first time she had made a man so fearful of her.

Not wanting to just sit and wait for the meal, Freya walked over to Nathaniel and said, "Let me help you make the brownies." Nathaniel was initially taken aback but then a look of joy flashed in his eyes, though he tried not to show it too obviously.

It wasn't easy for him to hear Freya speak to him calmly. He had loved her for so long, never realizing she could be so ruthless. This time, she had played with his emotions, forced him to kill Abigail, and betray Taylor. He had truly experienced her cruelty.

Even knowing that loving her felt like enduring a torturous ordeal, he couldn't bring himself to let go.

Bringing her to Hoover Village for Spring, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and spending time together seriously might repair their damaged relationship.

This strategy indeed worked, as Freya seemed much more at ease.

Freya sat beside Nathaniel, picking up tools to start mixing ingredients. She didn't know the proportions of the ingredients, but she could mix ingredients and bake. She helped her family cook once when she was little.

It was a brief interest back then, and she hadn't expected to do this again in a small village in the North years later.

The Spring Festival Gala was playing a comedy sketch, and the audience's laughter was infectious, affecting both of them.

Suddenly remembering something, Freya looked at Nathaniel and asked, "Mr. Nathaniel, do you have any coins?"

"Preferably one-dollar coins?"

Nathaniel was puzzled for a moment before realizing what she meant, then he smiled and asked, "You want to put it in the brownies, right?"

Freya nodded and laughed, "Yes, our housekeeper was from the North and told me about a tradition here."noveldrama

"During Spring, you put a coin in a brownie, and whoever finds it is supposed to have good fortune in the coming year."
