You Are Vicious
{You are more vicious than I thought}
Lily heard the system exclaim as she exited the chat with Sunset and she chuckled. “If you aren’t vicious with your enemies, you will end up like my past self, dead without a way to vent” she explained with a gleam in her eyes making the system roll its invisible eyes.
{You know he would make you take the blame if anything goes wrong and you still did that? How would you wash your hands clean? What is your plan to deal with him?}
“Just wait and see, the testing day for such a program is three days and after that, it could be considered well-made, by that time, he would have already been promoted and the higher-ups would already know that he took that job!” She explained with an excited giggle.
“Plus, I erased my involvement just now and nothing could be traced back to me, so he naturally would be blamed, after that, he would be demoted back to stage one but then I can’t let him go, I want him to be kicked out completely so I will instigate the other that he has cheated in the past” she added.
{The method you used is simple but imagine the chain reaction that it would cause! You are indeed a genius}
Lily felt a momentary surge of pride at the system’s praise but quickly refocused on the task at hand. She knew that people like Sunset and Merissa were just minor annoyances that she would have to deal with on her way to defeating her main enemy. It would be best to take care of them as quickly and efficiently as possible, and then move on to the bigger challenges ahead.
She scrolled through the mission page, given that she had levelled up, she now had access to a wider range of missions to choose from, except there wasn’t any anomaly like the Alpha job this time. All the jobs available for her level are just small hacking and information-gathering jobs.
With a dejected sigh, she clicked on three missions which was the limit for the job she could take at once for her level. As she calculated that the total money from the three jobs was not even up to a million, she became even more determined to level up faster.
‘I refuse to continue being poor!’
‘How will I get anything done if I’m poor? No, I can’t!’
Before she started on the mission she had taken, she went to check on the Alpha’s firewall that was upgrading in the background, seeing that it was still at 50% and would take at least three more days to upgrade completely, she minimised it and went back to doing her mission.
The first mission was to dig up dirt on an internet celebrity, which was the lowest paying among the three jobs she had taken. With enough experience from her past life as Victoria, Lily was able to quickly navigate, finding out about her target.
She could remember the first time she had taken a job like this, she was a bit nervous about destroying someone’s reputation but after doing it so many times and finding out that those people weren’t good, she felt no sympathy for them, instead, she did the job so diligently and meticulously, even pass the way the lister wants it to be done and every time she would get praises from the job lister and also recommendation.
The more she dug, the more cold her aura became. The internet celebrity is called Angel and her real name is Hellen Hudson, but none of her behaviour represented that of an angel.
{She is too cold-blooded!}
The system that had been observing in silence could no longer hold its grievances. It had not been in contact with many people but this one was one of the bad ones!
{How could someone who appears so innocent be such a demon? Even demons aren’t as evil!}
Lily felt the same way and even after gathering the necessary information that was needed, she decided to add more ‘gifts’ to the lister by telling them some more private information. “People like her need to be taught a lesson!” Lily declared coldly.
When she was finished with the three missions, the sun was already bright in the sky. She rubbed her tired eyes and stretched, her muscles aching from the hours of sitting in front of the computer. She decided to take a quick nap before doing anything else, knowing she would need to be well-rested for the day ahead. She had to pack her things and prepare to go back to school, and she knew it would be a busy day. But for now, sleep was calling her name.
As she looked around the room, the thought of getting another apartment for her parents crossed her mind but she hurriedly suppressed it. “It won’t be too late to get them a better place after the competition, that way, I can have an excuse as to where I got the money” she muttered and went to sleep.
While she was sleeping peacefully, Merissa and her mother were in a state of panic and distress. “Do you think she will return to school? Won’t she continue to use the excuse of being sick?” Merissa asked her mother after breakfast, still horrified about the news that her biggest shot at winning the competition would be staying away when she needed her the most.
“Do you think she’s doing it to get back at me?” She pressed on. Her mother frowned and gave her a helpless smile. “You have nothing to worry about, doesn’t her parents still work with us? I don’t believe they won’t listen when we talk about it with them” She declared with a mischievous smile.
“We can persuade them to let her return to school, besides, we have other means. You have nothing to be bothered about. Lily will definitely help you this time” she assured firmly.
Merissa remained quiet, her heart filled with doubt and the scenarios of what would happen to her reputation in school if it was exposed that she could not do as well as she used to when Lily was in school. She has to find a way to bring Lily back to school.
“Then can we get a house off campus and assure Aunty Chloe that Lily can recover without harm?” Merissa asked as an idea popped into her head. Her mother smiled, “You are really smart! I will talk to your father about it and for the period of the competition, we can show our goodwill by sending a doctor to check on her regularly!” She suggested and Merissa’s mood became more relaxed and a smile finally made its way to her face.
Thinking that with such a plan, it would be very difficult for Lily to decline her request after their ‘goodwill’. A calculative smile appeared on her face as she plotted ways to make use of Lily for her gains. “Whatever you do this time, you have to be more careful, alright? You can’t make people suspect anything” her mother warned with a worried frown, remembering how they could have gotten into trouble with the last incident.
Merissa’s phone beeped while they were discussing and she excused herself to receive the call, “Why are you calling me?” She asked coldly and the person on the other side paused, her excited giggle stopped when she realised how cold Merissa’s tone was.This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
Hellen, Merissa’s ‘best friend’ frowned as she looked at the caller ID, checking if she had called the wrong person. “It’s me Hellen” she sounded cautiously. Merissa sneered, “I know it’s you, why are you calling me?” She demanded.
“Did I do something wrong? Why are you so suddenly cold to me?” Hellen asked with an aggrieved tone. She and Merissa had met when they were in high school and being ladies from the same circle, they got along well, even their behaviour was the same, but as Merissa remembered the news she heard about the other person on the phone, her tone became even colder.
Hellen could not wrap her head around Merissa’s sudden coldness, she had been away to film a show for the past three months. Upon arrival, she wanted to hang out with her best friend only to be treated so coldly.
“If I did something, why not tell me?” She snapped angrily, “Why are you being so cold without an explanation? Tch” Hellen had always been known for her bad temper and she hated it the most when people treated her so coldly, after all, she is already a celebrity with over a million fans, so how can she allow someone like Merissa, who depends on a poor lady to remain in school, to talk down at her?
Merissa glared at the wall before her. “Are you trying to stain my reputation too?” She asked. “From today, let’s not be in contact!”
