“No. Not in that way.” Artemis chuckled. “We’re planning to adopt a pup,” he said more clearly.
“I don’t want her to watch her in so much again. Of course, that pain was worth it, but we were thinking, why not adopt a pup and give a bright future to him or her.”
“That’s so cool.” Calvin expressed his thought.
“Anyways, let’s not change the main topic. Calvin, stay very, very careful because if any witch gets a chance to enter the pack, then she can break the protective shield from inside that I have prepared. And then all your enemies can enter the pack.”
‘Even Colton warned me about the upcoming danger. Now, this.’ Calvin thought before speaking, “Don’t worry, I have already tightened the security of the pack.” he added, and it was true when Colton warned him about danger. He had already mind-linked warriors to stay alert and had increased security.
He reached near Caroline and careless her cheek, “Stop worrying. I’m big enough to handle my problems.”
“That can’t stop an elder sister from getting worried.” Caroline smiled and added, “Just be careful with the people around you. And maybe deep down, you have figured it out on your own that who could be that witch who came around you because you’re not that Calvin who used to allow multiple women around yourself. Good night.”
“Good night,” Calvin said. Both Calvin and Keanu understood who could be that witch about which Caroline was talking because they were around only one other woman, and now she was in the pack.
But wouldn’t this be wrong to judge anyone without knowing her? There were good witches as well, and Caroline was one of that examples. And witches are human with powers, so maybe that could be the reason he couldn’t sense her power in her unconscious phase.
Calvin was a little reluctant to walk into his own room, but finally, he did and saw Ethlyn sleeping on the other side of his bed, and lots of pillows were in the center of the bed. He recalled their previous conversation and how it ended up. He went into the washroom to freshen up, and after five minutes, he joined her in the bed after taking a bath.
“Are you mad at me?” Calvin whispered, knowing that she was awake by no reply came from her. “I know you’re awake, Ethlyn.”
“No. Why should I? I’m mad at Moon Goddess.”
“You sure?”
“Yes. I’m not mad at you.”
“Are you really not mad at me?” Calvin asked to reconfirm because her tone was rough.
“Why will I be mad at you, Alpha? We don’t share that bond or relationship, remember?”
“Then can I hug you?”
“Go and hug your mate,” Ethlyn growled, turning her head toward him. Calvin grinned when he realized that she was mad at him. There was a lot of reason to be mad at him, so he didn’t waste time thinking about the reason.
“Okay, then! I’m going to stay beside her.” He said nonchalantly, widening Ethlyn’s eyes. She watched Calvin leave the bed at the speed of a sloth. She quickly lunged at him, stopping him from leaving. He grinned, watching her glares. He wrapped his arms around her waist.
“I wasn’t leaving anyway,” he said, pushing a strand of her hair behind her ears. Ethlyn tried to pull herself from his grip, but she failed. It looked like this was a one-way route. She could come in on her own wish but couldn’t leave without his permission.
“She was in hospital. I couldn’t stop myself.” Calvin whispered and narrated everything from the beginning until now to her.
“You brought her to the pack as well?” Ethlyn stated more as she asked. She couldn’t believe the speed of everything that was happening. She wouldn’t be surprised if, by tomorrow, his mate would be landing on his penthouse.
“I had to. I told you that her situation was critical. Thankfully Colton brought vampire blood in time, or I would have to….”
“Mark her?” Ethlyn’s tongue burned with acid when she said these two words. She wasn’t special whom he marked for saving her from the anger of the pack members. He could do the same for… his mate.
“That was the last option, okay? I wasn’t thinking of doing that in real.”
Ethlyn wanted to laugh at his words. That thought came into his mind, and he was telling her that he wasn’t thinking of doing anything like that in real. She wanted to tell him to observe his own words, but she didn’t. Instead, she wanted to make this fact realized to him on his own. “You really wouldn’t have chosen to opt for that option if your brother wouldn’t have been here?”
“But the good thing is that he arrived, right?”
“What if he wouldn’t have been here?” Ethlyn asked her question again. “Give me a clear answer, Alpha Calvin.”
“I would have marked her for saving her life.” Ethlyn didn’t know whether the pain of betrayal would have hurt her or the pain of the truth. Someone had said right, ‘Everyone wants the truth, but not everyone can handle the truth.’
“Please tell me that you are here because you wanted to. No one forced or asked you to come here.” Ethlyn asked, and her voice started breaking. She waited… she waited for a while for Calvin’s answer, but it never came. “Leave me.”

“Please, Alpha. If you hesitate between her and me, don’t choose me. You’re free to go near her and stay by her side when she is in hospital. I don’t want to spend a second with you whose body is with me, but his mind is someone else. I don’t want to spend a second with you, who will be holding me in his arm and will keep thinking about somewhere else.”
