The Remorseful Brothers Novel

Chapter 228

The gul was poor in the mountains

Madeline was quite bored because there wasn’t much to do

She had slept a lot during the day, making it hard to fall asleep at night..

After taking a walk, she came back to find another bowl of medicine on the table. Confused, she asked, “Why does Noah keep delivering medicine when we’re not around? I remember ise likello ulk.”

Harper chuckled. “Tie’s basy too. With all the sermons these days, everyone seems pretty occupied. If you’re bored, we could go listen in”

Madeline smirked. “Me Il pass. I wouldn’t understand a thing I struggle with a lack of insight into the sermons.”

Luckily, she had the script for her next show saved on her phone, so she could at least work on memorizing lines and gening into character.

Harper, on the other hand, had to scavenge for some Wi–Fi to download a few TV shows.

Although living in the mountains was quite nurturing for the soul and the scenery was beautiful it was starting in feel a bit dull for her.

When Harper returned to the room, she found Madeline leaning against the bed, scrolling through her phone.

Silling up to Madeline, she asked, “Maddie, want to watch a new show called Return of the Phoenix together! It’s pretty popular, and the ratings are good. Should be fun to watch. Long nights are perfect for hinge–watching shows together.”

Harper couldn’t help but feel a bit regretful–if the monkeys hadn’t stolen their snacks, it would’ve been perfect.

“Return of the Phoenix? Madeline was surprised. “It has aired already?”

“It should’ve aired ages ago. It was supposed to come out during Chrismas, but it got delayed. Now’s as good a time as any,” replied Harper.

She had no idea that Madeline had played a minor role as a doomed beloved concubine in the drama

They sat together to watch the show, which was a period drama about the power struggles and conflicts within a royal palace and had a large audience.

Harper often watched similar dramas at home for fun.

Madeline watched for a bit before returning to her script.

Meanwhile, Harper, wearing headphones, binge watched two episodes in a row. During a group scene in the third episode, she couldn’t help mutter, “The king is such a jerk, having so many concubinest And bringing so many of them to a banquet?”

As she spoke, she came to the scene where a beautiful beloved concubine, emboldened by the king’s favor, foolishly challenged the protagonist…

Dressed in vibrant palace attire, the concubine looked so young and gorgeous–truly someone who could captivate anyone

At first, Harper was unfazed, but as she looked closer, she exclaimed, “Wow, this concubine is gorgeous!”

After watching a bit longer, she said, “Wait,

it, what? She’s killed off just like that? A concubine this beautiful doesn’t seem like just a throwaway

character!”

She couldn’t resist taking a screenshot, planning to search online later for information on the stunning actress.

But when she checked the screenshot, she found the actress looked oddly familiar,

She glanced at Madeline, who was lying on the bed in simple clothes, looking a bit pale. Then she looked at the screenshot of the breathtaking concubine.

She asked. “Maddie, this isn’t you, is it?

Madeline glanced at the screen and smiled lightly. “Yeah, just a small extra role. You recognized me?”

Harper exclaimed, “No way! Some people are just born to be in the spotlight. Even as an extra, you are hard to ignore.”

Madeline had a great sense of the camera, knowing how to present herself. Her acting was polished, and she perfectly captured the essence of the arrogant beloved concubine

Harper gushed, “Tm officially your flest fan now, Maddie, you’re incredible! You should do more period dramas–you look amazing in thein.”

Some people looked out of place in period costumes, but Madeline wasn’t one of them. In fact, she was even more striking in such roles.

11:35 AM

Curiosity getting the better of her, Harper sneaked a peek at Madeline’s phone. “Is your current script a period drama“”

“No” replied Madeline..

Harper frowned, disappointed. “You should really be doing more period dramas!”

She kept pestering Madeline to chat

Madeline was helpless. The one I just finished shooting over winter break is called Cheers,’ a period drama focused on household. I played a supporting role in the protagonist’s group.

“The current one’s called His Cat a school romance. I’m playing the female lead’s best friend. It’s a tragic role–I die later on

“The next one is a modern esports–themed drama called “Rebel.‘ It’ll be my first lead role”

Madeline had hoped to land a role in a serious drama, but with her lack of experience, she couldn’t secure a part. So, for now, she had to wait

She was currently stuck in the world of idol dramas.

But she knew that once she became famous, she’d have more options. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

She was lucky enough to play roles in “His Car” and “Rebelboth of which were offered to her by Yohannes.

Without him, with no notable work or connections, even getting her face on screen would’ve been tough.

Harper was shocked “Rebel” That’s a big deal! Esports dramas are rare, and they get a lot of attention. Who’s the male lead? I heard rumors it’s Yohannes.

She covered her mouth. Is it you and Yohannes..?”

Madeline didn’t know who the male lead was. As far as she knew, the casting wasn’t finalized yet.

She said, “I have no idea. I don’t think it’s him.”

Harper grinned mischievously. “Well, you never know.”

The next morning, Madeline was awakened by the sound of a bell tolling.

The deep, resonant chimes echoed in the distance, and she couldn’t help but open her eyes.

The sky outside the window was already quite bright.

However, the temperature remained pretty low

Madeline shook Harper, who was still sound adeep, and said, “Come on, we can still make it to see the sunrise.”

Harper, groggy and half–asleep, mumbled. The sunrise what’s so special about the sunrise nooo_

But Madeline dragged her out of bed anyway.

The two of them hurried to the main peak to watch the sunrise.

Madeline, feeling mostly recovered but still with a slight headache, walked quickly. By the time they reached the top, a crowd had already gathered.

Harper collapsed onto a bench, exhausted.

The sea of clouds swirled, with the clouds as white and soft as snow.

The wind was strong and cold, numbing Madeline’s hands.

She pulled out her phone to take pictures.

Amid the clouds, a brilliant beam of light suddenly appeared. The endless sea of clouds and the vast sky were pierced by sunlight, which bathed the pale horizon in a dazzling glow,

She took photos and videos

Once again, she heard the deep sound of the hell.

Looking down, she saw

saw many priests moving around the chapel below. Leading them was a priest in a vestment, walking steadily.

Behind him was a long procession of priests investments.

Among them, one figure stood out. In a vestment, he had on a wide–brimmed hat and a mask.

Madeline’s gaze followed him, from the moment he appeared until he entered the chapel.

She murmured to herself. “So Mr. Bennett really does wear a hat in public.”
