The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1015
Madelyn felt a chill run through her. It was a sensation she had not experienced since a harrowing incident five years ago when she nearly had to jump into the sea.
‘Zach, you’re terrifying!’ Madelyn thought to herself, reflecting on the DNA test report. ‘It says I’m related to Zach. Is he my brother? Impossible! I can’t be related to him by blood. This must be fake!’
She quickly composed herself, reminding herself of her true parentage. Her biological father had died long ago, and her mother had only her for a daughter. Therefore, the DNA report was likely fabricated.
Madelyn considered that Zach might be Hayson’s son. However, she was puzzled about who would create such a false document. She put the report back, feeling a heavy burden on her chest, making it hard to breathe.
She felt a bit better after drinking some water. Just then, a server approached with a cup of hot milk. “This is for you, please enjoy.”
Madelyn replied, “But I didn’t order it.”
The server pointed to a man in the distance and said, “That gentleman ordered it for you.”
Madelyn turned and saw the young man from earlier on the motorcycle. Just then, a black Rolls Royce swiftly pulled up at the café, and Zach got out, followed by Kevin. As he entered, an unmistakable chill emanated from him. Madelyn noticed a trace of fear in his eyes. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
‘What are you scared of, Zach?”
Madelyn wondered silently.
Zach glanced at the cup of hot milk before Madelyn. His usual composure was replaced by a hint of panic, while she remained calm. Madelyn asked, “Why are you here? Aren’t you busy?”
Kevin saw the items on the table and took them without Madelyn’s consent. He said, “These are mine.”
Zach, seeing her drink the milk, reached out to stop her, “Don’t force yourself. I’ll keep this document for now and return it if it’s not problematic.”
Kevin suspected the document and recorder were what Yvonne had hidden. He was relieved that Madelyn had not fully realized their significance.
Madelyn took a sip and noted, “This tastes strange.”
Madelyn felt disgusted and put the cup down. She stood up and said, “Let’s go.”
The server was struck by the sight of the beautiful couple, reminiscent of leads in a TV drama. If not for the lack of cameras, the server might have thought they were filming.
Madelyn noticed the dazed server and paused. She said to Zach, “I don’t have money to pay, remember to settle the bill.”
Once in the car, Madelyn felt warmer. She found a blanket to cover herself and said, “I’m going to sleep. I’m tired. Wake me up when we get there.”
Madelyn noticed the young blond man still outside the café, waving at her.
“Who is he?” Zach asked.
“I have no idea,” Madelyn responded.
Zach watched as Madelyn rested, saying nothing more.
Madelyn had been up late and was exhausted. She took off her uncomfortable shoes, and Zach tenderly placed them aside, then lifted her onto his lap. He warmed her cold, slightly reddened feet with his hands.
Since Madelyn recovered from her illness, she often felt cold, especially her hands and feet. Zach covered her feet with his jacket, showing meticulous care.
“Drive slower,” Zach instructed Kevin.
The journey home was prolonged by heavy snowfall, and by the time they arrived, night had fallen. Madelyn, having slept the entire way, woke up as they stopped. She asked, “Are we there?
“Yes, we’re home,” Zach confirmed.
Madelyn lazily opened her eyes and said, “Carry me in, I don’t feel like walking.”
“Alright.”
Zach lifted Madelyn effortlessly, wrapping her in his coat before carrying her out of the car. The servants had prepared a table full of her favorite dishes.
“Sir, Madam…”
Margaret, in the kitchen with a slice of bread in her mouth, stopped mid-bite upon hearing Zach and Madelyn’s return. The bread, meant for Dalton, had sparked Margaret’s curiosity. She wanted to taste what Dalton enjoyed every day.
Zach strode upstairs with Madelyn without pausing, who still seemed half- asleep, rolling into bed.
He approached the dressing table, sorting through various bottles and jars, before finding a makeup remover. Sitting beside her, he gently wiped off her makeup and said, “Wait a bit, you should eat
something before sleeping.”
Madelyn, too tired to answer, simply lay there.
“What did she tell you?” Zach finally asked.
