The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning

Chapter 1036

Chapter 1036

Blake checked the time and saw it was nine o’clock in the morning. She closed her eyes lying down as she said, “I’ll take a short nap for half an hour. Wake me up if there’s something!”

As soon as she finished saying that, Kevin, dressed in a black suit, walked into the office. He was holding a stack of documents with one hand and the other tucked in his pocket.

Blake had fallen asleep by the time Kevin entered the office. She heard nothing but the faint sound of

footsteps.

Kevin’s presence usually set everyone in the entire secretary’s office on edge, except for Blake. Only she

dared to nap during working hours.

Blake’s colleagues were amazed that she was not afraid even though Kevin was in the office. Since Blake

was under Cecilia, the others believed that despite Blake’s position in the secretary’s office, she shared a

certain level of authority with Kevin.

The staff in the secretary’s office found Cecilia was as scary as Zach. They sympathized with Blake as

she bore the brunt of Cecilia’s temper.

Blake was so bold because Cecilia would not be in the office early morning, and Cecilia seldom looked

for her.

When Susan passed by Blake’s desk to enter Kevin’s office, she frowned at the sleeping figure but said

nothing.

After Susan briefed Kevin on the day’s schedule, she went on to do other tasks. When she returned at half

past eleven, she was surprised to find Blake still snoozing. Susan was annoyed with it as she thought, ‘No

one else in the entire Jardin Corporation is as free as Blake is.’

Susan then timidly said to Kevin, “Mr. Harrison, Blake is still sleeping.”

Unexpectedly, Blake slept until lunchtime.

Janice patted Blake and said, “Blake, wake up! Everyone’s gone for lunch.”

Blake woke up and lifted her head. She looked very groggy as she glanced around, asking, “What time is

it?”

“Lunchtime!” Janice replied, glancing nervously at Kevin in his office. His cold gaze frightened her as she

said, “I’ll meet you in the cafeteria.”

Blake freshened up herself and headed to the pantry for coffee. She suddenly recalled her days as Kevin’s

She then settled in Kevin’s chair while he was still on the phone in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. He was completely unaware of Blake who was behind him. She moved the chair a little as she carefully

examined the desk.

After Kevin ended the call, he turned around and saw Blake. He asked in an icy tone, “What are you doing?!

Blake pushed a cup of coffee to Kevin and said, “I made your favorite hand-ground coffee. So, being the CEO’s assistant must have its perks, huh? This leather chair, the pearwood desk must be worth a fortune.”

Kevin responded, “Can’t you knock on the door before coming in?”

Blake did not take him seriously and said, “I’m not your assistant now. Besides, aren’t you my boyfriend? Can’t I come to my boyfriend’s office?” She grinned. “Are you done with work? Should we have lunch

together?”

Kevin seemed to have reached the limit of patience he had for her. He frowned as he walked toward her, Get out now. It’s working hours as long as you’re in the company. You better behave even during your notice period. Read the employee handbook again. If you can’t remember the rules, copy it a hundred

times.”

In the past, when Kevin talked to Blake in this manner, she might have been afraid. But it was different

now as they were in a relationship.

Blake leaned back comfortably with her hands on her head. She extended a finger and shook it, “It’s break

time now. So, it isn’t working hours now. Therefore, I’m your girlfriend at this moment. Your stern face

doesn’t work on me now!” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Kevin’s tone hardened. “That’s enough. I’ll give you three seconds. Get out!”

Blake genuinely felt a little guilty now. She smiled as she stood up. Just as she started feeling awkward,

her phone rang, saving her from an uncomfortable exit.

The call was from the front desk, saying someone wanted to meet Blake.

Blake did not know who it was as she did not have many friends. Puzzled, she headed downstairs after

hanging up the call.

At the company’s lobby, Blake was shocked to see Liam standing at the entrance. He looked lost amid a

swarm of admiring coworkers. He dressed casually with a black mask and was holding a thermal

lunchbox.

“Are you here for an interview? What’s your name?” someone asked.

“Can I get your number?” another chimed in.

Liam was over six feet. He stood out in the crowd. He looked around and spotted Blake who came out of the elevator. He pointed at her and said, “I’m here for her…”

The crowd’s attention shifted to Blake. She forced a smile, hurried over, and pulled Liam away from the crowd.
