Chapter Nineteen
the sun’s rays shone through the curtain as the birds chirped continuously bringing me out of my slumber. a warm scent enveloped me as I turned away from the bright rays, only to come face to face with my fated pair. my mate. I couldn’t help but let a warm smile plaster its way across my face. I watched as his chest heaved up and down, his lips parted slightly as he breathed peacefully. His hair a frenzy all over the place. he looked… cute.
instinctively I reached out my hand, brushing the hair that fell across his forehead and eyes. I couldn’t believe this was actually happening. the events that had played out thus far had made me sigh in annoyance. did I not deserve some sort of happiness? His arms wrapped tightly around me bringing me closer to him pulling me out of my thoughts. I chuckled at his actions . A groan left his lips as he opened his locking them with mine as they sparkled.
“Good morning.” I smiled.
He pulled me closer into his chest as he kissed my forehead, holding me tightly, my bump, forming a small gap between us. it felt as though he was holding onto something that was going to disappear any second. almost like a child holding their favourite toy.
“Good morning.” he said huskily. As he smiled at me. “Haa…” he sighed, “I thought it was a dream.” he said making my heart flutter. I guess I wasn’t the only one hoping all of this was real.
I hit his bare chest as I tried pushing away from him, but all he did was pull me closer. “Let me go, Reese, we have so much to do today!” I said as I finally pushed away from him. He let out a light chuckle as I walked to the bathroom. Freshening up, I finished with a light touch of makeup. Walking out of the bathroom, my mouth became dropped open at the sight before my innocent eyes. There, Reese stood in his half naked glory.
“Like what you see?” he asked winking, making me roll my eyes at his cliche line.
“Oh please, No, I’ve seen so much better.” I lied to through my teeth trying to rile him up. I guess he didn’t see that coming, did he? I smiled to myself.
He snorted at my response. “Yeah, in your dreams.” was he challenging me? I couldn’t help but get flustered at his reply. he burst out into a full-blown laughter at my reaction, hitting a nerve.
I glared at him from where I stood, before flipping my hair. Not that it went anywhere because of how short I had cut it. I tried regaining my composure as I scoffed at his words speechless. I walked away from him into the kitchen of the small apartment. A knock came I through the door, as I began preparing breakfast. I walked towards the entrance opening the door slightly only to come face to face with a wide grinning Alex. I couldn’t maintain my surprise as to seeing him. did I tell him where I lived? Bringing me out of my wandering thoughts, He pulled me into a hug, and Growl echoed from behind me.
Well… this is… bad?
I turned around to see a stone-faced Reese. he held his composure even though could feel the waves of anger rolling off him. Alex looked directly at Reese before smiling toward me confused.
“Colleen, who is he?” Alex questioned curiously.
“Her Husband. Who are you?” Reese said in a hard tone making me widen my eyes.
*Husband?*
“You’re married colleen?” Alex asked taken aback but the sudden news.
“No,” I said at the same time Reese yelled a yes, making us shoot daggers at each other.
“But what about your boyfriend?”
“This is my boyfriend, who supposedly became my husband overnight,” I said with a sigh.
“I though you guys were on a break.” he stated. Reese looked at me then at Alex. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
*Could this get any worse?*
“We were, now we’re back. Can you get your hands off of her?” Reese said demandingly as he stared holes into the hand Alex still had around my shoulder.
Alex looked at his challengingly before removing his hand off my shoulder. something flashed in his eyes for a mere second before he smiled towards Reese and me.
“Interesting.” he muttered, the words not escaping our ears.
Reese stared his down in an authoritative way, and the more challengingly Alex looked at Reese the more Reese felt the urge to pounce on him and attack him. I couldn’t allow that to take place here. clapping my hands I brought their attention back to me.
“Alex, this isn’t a good time, We can hang out later, just give me a call. sorry that you had to come all the way here.” I said trying to usher him out of the apartment away from an angry Alpha. he looked at me with a worried expression.
“What if he hurts you and the baby, it’s too risky.” he said, trying to make a tone concern lace in his voice, making me raise my eyebrow at him.
I let out a sigh, “Don’t worry, he won’t, he just hates other guys. I’ll be okay.” I said to him. “it was good having you here, bye.” I said I pushed him out the door and shutting it immediately.
I blew out a tired breath as I slowly turned angrily towards Reese. “Calm down he’s gone!” I stated calmly.
“Who the hell is he?” Reese questioned in a cold demanding tone.
“he’s a friend.” I defended.
“A friend?” Reese raised an eyebrow at me as though questioning my judgement. “Colleen, Friends don’t give off an iffy smell that you won’t notice.” he said making me think he finally went crazy. “I don’t trust him Colleen, there’s something off about him, and I don’t like it.” he stated.
“Are you hearing yourself? Sure I’ve only known him for a short while but that does not give you a right to judge him. He’s been nothing but nice to me” Which is honestly the truth.
“Coleen, can you listen to me for once. I’m not saying this because of my jealousy, even I know how to control it. he doesn’t seem right. I don’t like him. either cut ties with him or I will make sure he does with you.”
I glared at him before looking away from him. “oh moon goddess! why are you so infuriating? just because you came back into my life doesn’t mean you can be controlling like the alpha you are!” I yelled.
“You know what? … I need some air.” he said as he walked out the apartment door.
What the hell is going on with him? Something off with Alex? No Reese, there’s something off with you. Ever since yesterday he hasn’t been able to look directly into my eyes . there was something he was hiding.
“There is something you’re not telling me. And I am going to know.
