Chapter 182

As soon as she finished speaking, a light came on from the other side of the room. It was Walter, turning on his phone by the desk.
Shakira rubbed her eyes and sat up. "What time is it..." Walter pressed the smart remote control that controlled the adjustable lighting system, and instantly, the room lit up like it was daytime. "It's about midnight."
Shakira was still a bit dazed, her reaction was slow, and she was shocked. "Did I really sleep that long?" "About eight hours." Shakira couldn't believe it herself.

wake you But this couch was indeed very comfortable, warm like wool, making her feel completely relaxed. "Why didn't up, and why didn't you turn on the lights? What were you doing just now?" Walter answered seriously, "Sleeping." Shakira was at a loss for words. She got up. She replied to some messages on her phone first. After that, she opened the curtains and looked outside. The tents all had their lights on, and it was so quiet that it seemed that everyone was resting.
Suddenly, Shakira felt a pang of hunger in her stomach. She rolled her eyes and had an idea. She walked over to Walter with a smile. "Hey, want some late-night snacks?"
Walter glanced at her, instantly seeing through the mischievous idea hidden beneath her smile. "What junk food are you planning to get this time?" The use of the word 'again' was indeed quite clever.
"How can you call it junk food? We like to call it something new." She opened the suitcase she'd dragged over, revealing the instant vegetable soup powder that Levi had slipped in last night
"There's the instant vegetable soup powder here, and I saw some crayfish in the mini-fridge. I can make a meal with these things!" Walter looked completely unimpressed. "You eat it; I'm not hungry." Shakira huffed, betting that Walter wouldn't be able to resist hunger for long!
Feeling refreshed and eager to satisfy her cravings, Shakira got right to it. The crayfish were fresh, and without hesitation, Shakira summoned a few bodyguards to help clean them thoroughly with brushes.
Shakira stood behind them with her hands on her hips, supervising. "Make sure to scrub the heads, and give the claws a good scrub, too. Hmm, the water's pretty dirty, so please use a bit more elbow grease, everyone."
These top-notch bodyguards, trained in every form of combat, never imagined they'd ever use their strength for this kind of task.
While Shakira was busy outside, Brian took the chance to approach Walter and quietly reported on the findings about Sean. "Sean made his first fortune in the financial district in Mandslia with Gideon Brooks. Then, they co-founded Yonder Digital. He's got no negative press and is a legitimate businessman."
He continued after a pause, "And also, Ms. Nelson's friend, Xanthe, went into Sean's room this afternoon and hasn't come out since. Enrique got the Southville Project under Sean's substantial support. They must have... a pretty close relationship!" Walter raised an eyebrow, surprised by this new information.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
He thought, 'So it seems Sean isn't interested in Shakira, but rather... Xanthe.' For some reason, he felt a burden lift off his mind.
"Alright, I understand. You can go rest now." "Yes, Mr. Lopez." Brian was about to leave when he suddenly remembered something and asked hesitantly, "Mr. Lopez, you haven't had dinner yet. Should I arrange for someone to prepare it?" Shakira was busy dealing with the crawfish over there. Brian knew very well Walter's temperament; such messy stuff was definitely not something Walter would eat... "No need. She is cooking."
Brian was stunned, finding it somewhat unbelievable. "Mr. Lopez, are you planning to eat crawfish?" Walter didn't answer but

instead asked back, "Why, is there a problem?"

"That's not what I meant." Seeing that Walter wasn't angry, Brian let out a slight sigh of relief and turned to leave. Thinking it
over again, he realized that's
unusual behavior made perfect sense. Ever since Shakira came, Walter's old rules had
ceased to hold true.
For the first time, Shakira realized how useful Walter's heavily funded bodyguards could be. In just under thirty minutes, they had cleaned several pounds of crawfish, the shells of which glistened brightly.
Excitedly, she carried the basket of crayfish back to the kitchen, rolled up her sleeves, and turned on the stove. She began by deep-frying the freshly washed crayfish until they were bright red, then scooped them out and set them aside.
Shakira chopped some garlic, green onions, and ginger into cubes. Once the ingredients were ready, she tossed them into the pot with water and instant soup powder. When the aroma started to waft, she added the fried crayfish. She then poured in more water until it covered the crayfish. She put the lid on to let it simmer.
While waiting for the crayfish to cook, Shakira tidied up the kitchen counter. She washed a couple of cucumbers and munched on one. She then walked to Walter and handed him one.
Walter raised an eyebrow. "You want me to eat this as dinner?" Shakira blinked innocently. "Of course not. I can't let you just eat cucumbers-it's just something to tide you over for now." Walter, still being stubborn, insisted, "I'm not hungry." Shakira didn't push him. "Alright then, if you don't eat, it'll make a nice addition to the dish." Walter was speechless.
After about fifteen minutes, Shakira opened the lid, and instantly, the entire suite was filled with the mouthwatering aroma of spicy and savory flavors. It was so tempting it made her mouth water. She threw in the cucumber Walter didn't eat and quickly stirred it for a couple of minutes. Later, she turned off the heat and served the dish.
A dish of fragrant crawfish was placed on the desk. Walter was a bit stunned. Shakira clasped her hands earnestly. "There's no extra dining table in the room, so I'll borrow this desk for about half an hour. I promise I'll clean it up well after I finish eating."
Walter let out a snort. Shakira knew he agreed. She grinned, washed her hands, and eagerly sat at the desk, ready to dig in.
The crawfish were just out of the pot, still hot. She eagerly picked one up, but the heat made her quickly toss it back. "That's hot!"
Walter watched her frown and couldn't help but snicker. "You are clumsy." Shakira sniffed, "I was just careless!"
She carefully picked one up and dropped it into a bowl. After making sure it wouldn't burn her fingers, she expertly removed the shell. The tender meat slipped out, emitting a slight steam.
Shakira dipped the crawfish into the sauce, bringing it to her mouth. Meanwhile, she stole glances at Walter, who seemed indifferent but stayed seated at the table.
Holding back a laugh, she playfully directed the crawfish towards Walter and handed the meat to his lips, "Try it."
