Chapter 26
Chapter 26
noah sighed, pushing his hair back off his forehead as he stared at the bowl of icecream, chocolate
syrup almost dripping off the edge and crushed cookies and walnuts messily thrown on top of it. it didn't
look as irresistible and appetising as noah thought it would look, but he still shrugged, shoving a spoon
on the side and carrying the bowl in one of his large hands.
adrian had refused to come to the dinner table to have lunch, or even hand noah the list of things he
needed for camp. his annoyance and anger was justified, but he couldn't blame noah. it was barely
seven in the morning and adrian was talking about human bones. not to mention the way he said uncle
chris; noah wanted to throw him down a volcano.
noah was meant to snap at that.
either way, noah was older and was supposed to be the 'mature' one in this situation, so as soon as
abel left the house to go and get all the stuff adrian needed, noah had set himself towards the kitchen, Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
trying to make the best icecream he could in exchange for forgiveness.
noah wasn't sure if his idea would work.
he contemplated knocking on the door before he went in, but he was afraid adrian would either respond
in a passive aggressive statement or simply taunt him like the last time.
"if you're dad, go back to sleep because you really need it, and i would hate to disturb you again,"
adrian had said the last time noah tried coming in his room, so this time he just slowly pushed open the
door, only to find adrian resting back against the pillows, a book in his hand.
"hey," noah muttered, taking a small step inside to test the waters but adrian just shot him an angry
look, quickly diverting his eyes back towards the book he was reading.
"i've read that book," noah tried making a conversation and adrian just peeked at him through his hair
dismissively.
"are you still mad at me?" noah sat down on his bed, some of the icecream melting and spilling on his
fingers, which he decided to ignore for now. "i made this for you," noah pushed his hand towards
adrian, careful to avoid the book so he doesn't get any icecream on it, and adrian just lowered his book
slightly, tentatively peeking inside the bowl.
"icecream?" he spoke for the first time to noah after what happened in the morning and noah just
grinned at him while nodding, handing him the bowl forcefully after grabbing the book with his clean
hand, making sure to place the bookmark before closing it.
"sorry for yelling at you in the morning," noah scratched the back of his head, and adrian squinted at
him for a moment before pushing a spoonful of icecream in his mouth to stop himself from smiling in
victory.
adrian only hummed in approval and noah could see the smirk form on the child's face, causing him to
slap adrian playfully across his head.
"hey!" adrian whined. "what was that for?"
"for being a stubborn child! who ignores their father for the whole day?" noah yelled at him, and adrian
just laughed, covering his mouth with the back of his hand so he doesn't be too loud.
"i just asked you if there were five hundred bones in our body! you were the one who started
screaming," adrian reasoned and noah rolled his eyes.
"there are two hundred bones in our body," noah stated and adrian scoffed before correcting him.
"two hundred–" he pointed his finger in noah's face. "and six," he paused. "get your facts right,"
"yeah yeah," noah slapped adrian's hand out of his face, adoringly watching as he ate his icecream. at
least he seemed to like it.
"do you need help with packing?" noah asked after a moment, ruffling adrian's hair and getting off the
bed. "or should i just go to sleep as you suggested?" noah teased and adrian rolled his eyes, picking
up a small pillow from beside him and throwing it at noah who just laughed as it hit his torso.
"suitcase is in the third shelf thanks,"
