Chapter 712 Subconsciously Testing

Neil bitterly admitted, “No. It’s because I’m too useless to bring him to justice. In fact, I sent Carol to beg

Evan so we can seek revenge, despite knowing that Carol can’t be with Evan because of this matter. All in

all, I’m a deadbeat.”

Eira said, “You’re not. Don’t you think Evan and Carol are good for each other from the start?”

Neil was rather stunned. “You think so?”

“Don’t you? I think you can put it this way. You think that Carol cares about Evan, so you asked her to seek

his help. However, you still respect Carol’s opinion in this situation, right? You didn’t make her do this

against her will, right?”

Neil’s gaze dimmed. “You sound like you’re exonerating me.”

“This is not an exoneration. You did it because you know that Evan is good for Carol, and you felt that he

will be of help. Perhaps… you’re subconsciously testing him?” Eira pointed out.

Neil still couldn’t figure out what made him say that to Caroline at the time.

“Ive finally figured it out. You’re not scared of the Jordans, but you feel guilty toward Carol!”

Eira stood up and passed the boxed milk to Neil.

Neil kept quiet. He did feel guilty toward Caroline, so he had shut himself at home, trying to come up with

ways to resolve this for the past two days.

Noticing that Neil was quiet, Eira added, “Neil, you don’t have to feel guilty toward Carol. You gave her the

right to choose her future.”

Neil kept quiet.

Eira patted his shoulder. “Alright, this matter will be resolved eventually. Let’s go out and eat now!”

Neil was stunned. “Didn’t you bring food?” NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

“I don’t care! Let’s go out and take a break!” Elra took Neil’s hand

At night, Alex visited Paige with Lucas,

It was Lucas who suggested it, not Alex who invited him.

Lucas wanted to get close to Caroline through Paige so he could help set up his best friend!

Paige was eating a popsicle sneakily on the sofa when they arrived.

Paige’s body trembled as soon as Alex walked in. She stuffed the whole popsicle into her mouth hastily- and threw away the trash swiftly. She smiled at Alex and said in a muffled voice, “You’re home,

Pug!”

“Pug? You’re Pug?” Lucas burst out in laughter.

Alex frowned and walked toward Paige with a stern expression “What were you eating?”

Paige swallowed the popsicle and said, “Nothing just bread! You brought a guest with you, huh?

She diverted the conversation, but Alex was still glaring at her. “Tell me the truth. What were you eating?”

Paige looked away quiltily. “I ate some bread because I was hungry.”

“Bread, huh? Is this your so–called bread? Alex turned and grabbed the trash bin. He was infuriated by the sight of the popsicle wrapper.

Paige figured that she could run if she could not hide.

Paige turned to look at Lucas, who was still standing at the doorway. “Hey, friend. Are you here to visit?”

Shocked, Lucas nodded at Paige and greeted, “Hello… I’m here to visit your place…

“Paige!” Alex barked from behind.

Lucas was startled that the usually well–tempered Alex would actually be angry.

Alex was exasperated. “Do you know that you’re pregnant now? Why are you eating a popsicle in this kind of weather? It’s still early spring!”
