family meeting
Marco looked at the reflection in the mirror in front of him when the door to his room opened, revealing Pedro who was now bowing before him.
“Sir, you have been awaited in your large family meeting,” Pedro said, making Marco look in his direction through the reflection of the large mirror.
“Tell them I don’t have the time because we have to finalize some meetings and monitor our new project,” Marco replied, making Pedro nod.
“But Mr. Edward has canceled all your schedules for today and instructed you to come,” Pedro replied again, making Marco finally turn around and look down at his subordinate.
“I have told you never to let my father mess up my schedule,” Marco said, exhaling his rough breath. It was pointless for him to grumble at Pedro, as Pedro couldn’t do anything if Edward directly ordered it.
“What kind of big meeting? They will probably just discuss inheritance assets. It’s already clear that I will be the one to hold them. They have no reason to get it. Are they worthy enough to have it?” Marco said, making Pedro nod as if agreeing with his master’s words.
The Jovanka family assets were not assets consisting of just a few percent of shares. They truly stood as big shots among the business community in the country, and the Jovanka name was not taken lightly by people. Their name was well-known even among the lower classes.
The Jovanka assets, which were inherited from their grandfather, were developed by Edward and some of his siblings. Eventually, they gave up, and this time, when Edward managed to uplift the Jovanka name again, they scrambled to divide the shares. However, unfortunately, Edward had transferred all of his shares to Marco.
So now they had to deal with Marco. That’s why Edward instructed Marco to handle all the issues, sometimes making Marco feel pressured and annoyed. After all, his father should be handling all of this. But this time, he had passed it all on to his son, Marco thought.
“Where will they be meeting?” Marco asked as he walked out of his room.
“At Mr. Edward’s mansion,” Pedro answered, making Marco halt his steps once again.
“Then you can wait downstairs. I have a brief matter for 15 minutes,” Marco said, prompting Pedro to go down first, while Marco immediately looked for Letta.
“Where is Letta?” Marco asked after meeting Desi.
“She’s in her room, Sir,” Desi replied.
“Tell her she’ll accompany me tonight. Go and ask Letta to go back to her old room and dress appropriately,” Marco said, making Desi nod.
“Tell her I’m only giving her ten minutes, no more. Otherwise, I’ll give her a special gift,” Marco said. After that, he left Desi and hurried off, not wanting to waste time. As Marco had said, Letta only had ten minutes. Letta even widened her eyes when Desi hastily informed her, making Desi push Letta’s small back to continue running up the stairs.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Letta immediately rushed to choose an outfit that Marco would consider appropriate. Letta didn’t know what ‘appropriate’ word was on Marco’s mind now, as Marco’s taste always changed. Finally, Letta picked an outfit that looked decent yet attractive. Letta also didn’t know where Marco would take her. Until Desi knocked on the door as the time Marco had given was almost up.
“Are you ready? Hurry, the Master is waiting downstairs,” Desi said.
“One moment, I haven’t even done my makeup, my shoes, my small bag, and look, my dress isn’t even on yet,” Letta said as Desi approached her.
“Hurry, time is running out. We don’t know what the Master will do to you again,” Desi said, finally running to ignore the partially unzipped back of her dress. Fortunately, Letta adjusted her hair to cover the exposed area. With a slightly gasping breath, Letta finally approached Marco.
Marco glanced at the clock. Then he nodded.
“Pedro, let’s go now,” Marco said, and Pedro finally followed them. Letta was a bit hesitant when she was by Marco’s car. Should she sit in the front or the back? Somehow, whatever she did, Letta felt like she would always be wrong in Marco’s eyes.
“What are you doing there? Hurry up and get in. We don’t have much time. You know my time is very valuable, right?” Marco said, making Letta finally sit beside him. Then he closed the door. The driver immediately took them to Edward’s residence, with Pedro in another car, and one more car escorting them.
Inside the car, Marco was focused on his phone, while Letta just looked ahead. Somehow, Letta felt somewhat anxious. Wherever Marco would take her.
“Get rid of all your nervousness and anxiety,” Marco said, pausing as he glanced at Letta’s appearance. It seemed her appearance was fine, Letta thought.
“And once we get there, never think about staying away from me. You can only be five steps away,” Marco said again, making Letta furrow her brow.
“Where are we going?” Letta finally asked.
“To my parents’ house and also to meet my extended family,” Marco answered, making Letta feel even more nervous. Previously, at their wedding reception, Letta hadn’t even had the chance to meet Marco’s extended family. This time, it seemed she would be the center of attention again. Letta took a long breath. Her days would certainly feel heavy again, especially since Marco forbade her to stay away. That meant Letta had to stay by his side.
Finally, the car stopped at a tall gate that immediately revealed a luxurious house with a classic ambiance. This made Letta fall silent. Of course, such a sight had become a habit for Letta. Because in the future, luxury and suffering seemed to be just a thin line for both of them. It would feel the same for Letta. That’s why Letta didn’t feel impressed when she first stepped into Marco’s residence. She just lowered her head, looking at her steps following Marco’s long strides into the grand house. They were immediately greeted by bowing servants and guards.
After that, Marco stopped in his tracks. The servants were about to open the large door, but what slightly surprised Letta was when Marco suddenly pulled her waist closer, making her look at Marco who now wore a ‘Devil’ smile, letting Letta know that Marco was threatening her. After that, they entered. Nothing would be easy, Letta thought, as she walked in step with Marco once again.
