something urgent
Marco then tidied up his appearance, adjusting the position of his suit, before finally glancing towards Letta, who was also doing the same. Letta straightened her messy dress and makeup, causing Marco to pause for a moment, gazing at her small figure. However, when Letta attempted to let her hair down, Marco gave her a disapproving look.
“Put your hair up high,” Marco said, causing Letta to immediately meet his gaze through the mirror in front of her.
“Why? Don’t you want people to see your neck?” Marco asked again, glancing at the kissmark, a sign of his possession. Letta remained silent, neither refuting nor responding to Marco’s words. Letta simply did as Marco said, raising her hair high, tying it up neatly, revealing her slender neck distinctly.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Letta was too tired to argue with Marco, so Marco eventually walked over to her, allowing Letta to feel his body against her small back. Then, Letta widened her eyes as Marco kissed her neck where the kissmark was, with a gentle kiss, causing Letta to pause for a moment while gripping the sink in front of her.
“Don’t you want people to see this mark?” Marco asked again, making Letta shake her head.
“Good, then let’s go out now,” Marco said, walking ahead of Letta out of the bathroom, leaving Letta silently staring at the mirror in front of her. She then reapplied her lipstick to add color to her pale face and followed Marco’s steps. As they approached the others, as usual, their arrival became the center of attention.
“Where have you two been?” Helena asked as Marco sat opposite her, and Letta now sat beside her.
“We’ve just been to the restroom,” Marco replied nonchalantly, then looked towards Jacob, who was glancing disapprovingly at him.
“For that long?” others asked again.
“Yes, there was something urgent that I needed to take care of, right, honey?” Marco asked, causing Letta to look up and meet Marco’s gaze, nodding weakly. This made the mark on her slender neck clearly visible, catching Jacob’s attention, which was also noticed by Marco, who flashed a triumphant smile at Jacob, as Marco had always refused to let anything he possessed fall into Jacob’s hands. Marco also knew that Jacob was not someone who could match him in any way.
As the conversation continued, Letta glanced at the clock nearby, which already showed eleven o’clock at night. Eventually, one by one, people began to leave for their respective residences. However, Letta and Marco, of course, couldn’t leave just yet, as Helena and Edward detained Marco to discuss something important. This left Letta sitting alone in the living room, accompanied by snacks and warm tea. Letta didn’t know what to do at the moment, so she just gazed blankly.
Meanwhile, in another room, Helena immediately looked at Marco with a questioning gaze. “What do you mean by all that you’ve been doing?” Helena asked, to which Marco just looked at his parents nonchalantly.
“What do you mean, Mom?” Marco asked, as if he had no idea what he had been doing, causing Helena to sigh in frustration.
“I can’t say anything more about all his plans and what he really wants, so Edward, you’d better talk to your beloved child,” Helena said, seemingly at a loss for what to say and leaving everything to Edward. Edward straightened his posture and looked at Marco with a serious gaze.
“Arabella’s parents met with me this afternoon,” Edward said, and Marco could already guess the direction of their conversation.
“And then?” Marco asked.
“Of course, they didn’t agree with your sudden decision, which apparently ended your relationship with Arabella just like that. But initially, didn’t you say that after the baby was born, you would divorce her and also take custody of the child currently in her womb?” Edward asked, making Marco smile and nod his head.
“Yes, and I changed my mind about that. I ended the relationship with Arabella and chose to focus on my wife alone,” Marco said, once again drawing Helena’s attention, who looked at him with disapproval.
“How could you just end the relationship with Arabella’s family like that? Weren’t you deeply in love with her all this time? Then, why, within just a few days after the wedding, have you changed like this? What has that woman done to you?” Helena asked angrily.
“She didn’t do anything; I was the one who did something to my wife. So let me remain faithful to my wife, stop pushing me to marry Arabella. Let Arabella marry a good man for her,” Marco said, causing Helena to almost speak up again, but Edward stopped her.
“Are you sure about your choice?” Edward asked, making Marco nod his head.
“Yes, of course, Dad and Mom, you know I never make decisions without considering the causes and consequences that I’ll have to face. So, there’s no need to worry about me. I know what I need to do and what I’ve chosen now,” Marco said, finally making Helena let out a long breath.
“Alright, then Daddy accepts whatever you’ve decided, but make sure you don’t tarnish the family’s name,” Edward said, seemingly approving Marco’s current decision, which would surely be protested by his wife.
“But Edward, how can we just cut ties with Arabella’s family like that?” Helena said.
“Why not, Mom? This is their decision as well. We can’t interfere, and it’s a business matter. Don’t worry, Marco must have thought of a way out, right, Marco?” Edward asked, and Marco nodded.
“Of course, before making this decision, I already had a plan and preparations for myself and my future. So there’s no need to worry. If Mom still likes Arabella, Mom can adopt her and consider her as my sister,” Marco said nonchalantly. After that, he got up from his seat and left Edward’s office, leaving Helena and Edward staring at his resolute back as he left. Meanwhile, Helena immediately looked at her husband with a displeased expression.
“What are you all really up to? I truly don’t understand the way the men in this family think,” Helena said, seemingly angry with her husband, making Edward, who currently had his own problems, have to persuade Helena to understand Marco’s decision.
