The agreement
Letta now gazes at the neatly arranged dish in front of her, on the large table that could accommodate twelve people. She’s the only one sitting while she looks at Desi, standing not far from her.
“Are you not eating? Would you like to sit here with me?” Letta said, causing the servants behind Desi to exchange glances. Desi just nodded before approaching.
“Sorry, I had my meal a while ago before serving dinner for Madam. It’s better for Madam to enjoy her food alone. We shouldn’t dine at the same table as our employer,” Desi said, making Letta furrow her brow.
“Who made such a rule? Wouldn’t it be better if someone accompanied me while eating? I have a better appetite when someone is with me,” Letta said, gazing at Desi with a pleading look, but Desi shook her head.
“Madam can enjoy her meal alone. We’ll accompany from here,” Desi said, standing not far from Letta’s table. Letta sighed deeply, feeling that no one dared to accompany her at the large table. She started to take some dishes onto her plate, with portions enough for herself.
She thought, during her stay in this grand house, she would have plenty of time to enjoy delicious dishes like the ones she was currently savoring. After taking the first spoonful, Letta could only close her eyes, savoring the meal she usually only ate at lavish wedding events in five-star hotel ballrooms. This time, she could enjoy it every day.
After finishing her main course, the servants replaced it with the dessert menu. Letta’s smile faded as she heard the unmistakable footsteps, and she looked up to see Marco approaching.
“Seems like you’re enjoying the food in this house,” Marco said with a hint of sarcasm, causing Letta to shrug indifferently.
“Yeah, thanks to you, I really have to praise you,” Letta said, making Marco only able to smile even though he sensed the insincerity in Letta’s words. Letta continued to enjoy the dessert that made her eyes sparkle.
“Once you finish the dessert, can you meet me in the office? I have something to discuss,” Marco said, then walked past Letta towards the second floor. His movement halted when Letta called him back.
“Wait for me for five minutes,” Letta said, making Marco turn towards her.
“No need to rush. You can eat slowly and enjoy as much as you want. I have plenty of time to wait for you in my office,” Marco replied, leaving Letta speechless. After Marco reached the middle of the stairs, Letta resumed her meal, and Marco involuntarily lifted the corner of his lips.
Marco asked Letta to eat slowly, not wanting her to choke or not enjoy the meal. Marco wanted Letta to savor every aspect of the house so that she felt calm and comfortable, especially with the wedding day approaching. He wouldn’t let anything bad happen to Letta or their unborn child.
Marco didn’t know how long Letta took to finish her dessert, but he kept thinking about the peculiarity of some women who enjoyed desserts. When Letta approached him, Marco felt a slight stiffness in his back as he faced the screen in front of him.
“What do you want to discuss?” Letta asked straightforwardly, immediately sitting in the chair in the middle of Marco’s office.
“I’ve read the agreement you made,” Marco said, causing Letta to look at him with enthusiasm.
“Really? So, have you agreed to it?” Letta asked again, making Marco shake his head.
“Of course, it can’t be like that. I can’t just agree to it right away. I came to tell you that there are a few points that don’t align with my thinking,” Marco said, making Letta frown. Letta felt she had been very careful in drafting the agreement, but there were still points that Marco asked to be canceled.
Marco got up from his seat and approached the same chair as Letta, bringing a piece of paper that Letta had previously given him.
“Two and four,” Marco said, making Letta furrow her brow.
“I don’t agree with points 2 and 4,” Marco said, finally causing Letta to reach for the paper she had written earlier. In truth, Letta didn’t remember the points and their details very well, so she reread the letter she had written herself.
“Numbers 2 and 4, why do you have to reject them?” Letta said, looking at Marco with a furrowed brow.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
“Number 2, you ask for freedom, specific freedom that you desire, what is that exactly? You didn’t explain it. An agreement should be written with details to avoid any misunderstandings,” Marco said, causing Letta to fall silent again.
“Freedom, like I can work, or I can go anywhere, and maybe I can associate with anyone,” Letta said, shaking her head.
“Then I will reject it. You can think of other options,” Marco said, prompting Letta to question the rejection again.
“Why though? Isn’t it already stated in the first point that our marriage is just a marriage on paper, so there’s no need to dictate this and that about my life? So I chose to ask for freedom,” Letta said, making Marco nod his head.
“Alright then, do you also not want your child to see their mother working and taking care of them? Your time will be divided, and they will lack affection. That’s why I can hire someone to be their caregiver. But in point 3, you want to take care of them yourself,” Marco said, causing Letta to fall silent for a moment.
“I won’t argue about the job. So, about relationships with others or being allowed to go anywhere?” Letta asked again.
“To go anywhere, you have to be driven by a chauffeur and inform. As for relationships with others, like having romantic relationships, I will reject that. I don’t want our child to know any other man besides their father who has a good relationship with their mother,” Marco said, making Letta sigh in frustration.
