Chapter 625
Chapter 0625
Nicholas said, "It's you who insisted I get checked. You've got to help me, right?"
He pushed me into the examination room and pinned me against the door, locking it with a swift motion.
His bold move left me drenched in cold sweat. 'Are you crazy? There are still people around!"
How could he do this in a public place? Reflexively, I began to struggle.
My lips tightened in tension as I shot him a glare. 'Find someone else to help! A doctor, maybe! Why me? Let me go!"
Nicholas caught my hands and intertwined our fingers, pinning them above my head. His low chuckle carried a hint of mischief.
"Take a good look. Do you see anyone else here?"
I froze, the words hitting me like a lightning bolt on a sunny day.
Standing on tiptoes, I peeked over his shoulder. The desk where the doctor should've been was completely empty. There wasn't a soul in sight.
Each examination room had a similar setup. After accompanying Tabitha to so many rooms today, I immediately noticed what made this one different.
The spot where the couch should've been was replaced by a large bed. Even the usually dark TV opposite the couch was surprisingly switched on.
I shouldn't have looked. The moment I did, my face burned.
The paused screen wasn't just anything. It was a scene from one of those infamous "romantic films". The paused moment was right in the middle of a heated, entangled love scene.
The overwhelming flashes of bare skin on the screen sent my thoughts spiraling back to years ago. Back then, Nicholas and I had just started exploring each other's boundaries and desires.
He had whispered in my ear countless times before, "I've heard that watching and learning from others can immerse you in a sea of knowledge and bring unparalleled joy.."
I still remembered how alluring his voice had been back then.
He'd even turned on the projector in his office. But I panicked the moment I saw what was playing. I had no choice but to plead with him to turn it off.
"Nicholas, turn it off...
I curled into his arms, shutting my eyes tightly. My voice trembled just like it had back then.
When I said those words before, they were filled with playful affection. But now, saying them felt utterly shameful, even if it was just a reflex.
A large hand slid to my waist, the warmth of his touch pulling me out of my spiraling thoughts.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
"Ariana, open your eyes and look at this."
He opened his hand, revealing a transparent bag dangling from his palm. Inside was a small cup and a few tissues. So this was the test? It was so straightforward.
I stared at him, his amused expression making my scalp tingle.
"I didn't know the test worked like this. I thought checking for depression-related genes would involve something sophisticated, not this. And the doctor took so long to prepare!"
Who knew they'd prepared a bed and something like that on the TV?
I gave Nicholas a push, but he didn't budge. Frustrated, I blurted out, "Step back, will you?"
He ignored me entirely, fiddling with the small cup in the bag. "This looks like it can hold quite a bit."
Then, without warning, he pressed the bag into my hand. "Ariana, help me out. Otherwise, I won't be able to fill it."
