Chapter 2060
Chapter 2060
Heinz was stunned. That's true. Although Mr. Yarbrough wanted Grace to follow his surname, he knew he had not done much for her, not even the basics, so Mr. Yarbrough never pressured her to do so.
However, this did not mean that Mr. Yarbrough did not wish she would do so.
Few men could tolerate their children not having the same surname as them.
It was a common, shared feeling.
Although Mr. Yarbrough said he did not care, he must wish for it so much. It was the same for all men.
Hearing Grace's words, Heinz could only sigh and say nothing more.
Because he was still young, Lowell blurted out, "But I think Mr. Yarbrough wants it. He would be happy to know that you've changed your surname."
Grace looked at Heinz and noticed that he was holding back.
When Lowell said those words, Heinz nodded.
Grace frowned.
Heinz was only being considerate because she was pregnant.
Moreso, she was pregnant with twins.
He couldn't afford to upset her.
"So you agree with Lowell?" Grace asked as she glared at Heinz.
Heinz chuckled, "I'm the most qualified to say this. You see, I was so happy to see that Gary has changed his surname. I felt like I was on cloud nine, and I've never felt so delighted."
"You've never been so delighted?" Grace asked with her eyebrow raised.
Oops! Heinz's heart skipped a beat.
"Of course not. I was exaggerating a little." He didn't want to upset her.
"It seems that you weren't so happy when we got married." Grace said coldly, "What a narrowminded person you are."
Heinz's lips twitched from being mocked. "This has nothing to do with that. This is human nature, after all."
Grace continued to glare at him, not saying a word.
Heinz was embarrassed. He turned to Lowell and said, "Lowell, don't you agree?"
Lowell could tell that Grace was mad, so he let out an awkward smile.
It seemed like they were going to quarrel. Lowell felt that he should leave the scene. If he remained there, Heinz would be too embarrassed to apologize and coax Grace. If he left, Heinz would be able to handle the situation.
With that, Lowell decided to leave.
He said to them, "I think you should respect Grace's wish. I have had my fill, and I have to go back to my research. You two can enjoy your meal." "Sure, go ahead." Grace said, "Good luck."
"Alright." Lowell nodded. "I'm be heading upstairs."
Grace nodded.
Lowell ran away and disappeared upstairs.
Heinz and Grace were the only ones left in the dining area downstairs.
Their eyes met as she stared at him with a sharp gaze.
"I can't believe it! You're such a selfish person," mocked Grace.
"How am I selfish?" Heinz felt like he had been wronged.
"You're taking advantage of the situation," she explained.
He was stunned and immediately understood what she meant.
She was saying that their son was in trouble and he was taking advantage of the opportunity.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
But he had been wanting to tell her about it. It was inevitable.
So what if he was selfish? At least Gary was now a Jones.
Heinz smiled and said, "I've finally found the perfect chance to do so. Could you please stop mocking me? I wouldn't force you if you didn't want to."
"I was right." Grace snorted. "Selfish as ever. You only care about yourself."
Aggrieved, he said, "How could you say that? have been working so hard to persuade you to make my father-in-law happy, but you replied to my efforts with sarcasm. Dfeel like everything I say is wrong now."
"As if you ever been right," she said.
He was speechless.
"How could you still be in the mood to celebrate when Celeste and Gary's relationship is falling apart?" Grace said, "And you're even dragging me, a heavily pregnant woman, into this. Can't you see how much pain your son and
not
daughter-in-law are in, having to
force a smile and act like nothing is
going on? So shameless of you."
Heinz opened his mouth, wanting to say something.
She had not objected to the idea of celebrating when he proposed it to her. So why now?
"I guess you have too much free time on your hands, don't you?" She did not hold back at all.
It seemed that she was venting on him.
He felt so wronged that he felt like crying.
He took a deep breath and reminded himself not to get back at her since she was pregnant. He could not make her mad.
He looked at her with pleading eyes, hoping she would show him some mercy.
But he was wrong.
Seeing his pitiful expression, she pursed her lips and said, "What should we do about them?"
Heinz wanted to tell her he had no idea.
But when he noticed the knives in Grace's gaze, he changed his mind.
"Don't fret. It's not like they had fallen out of love. As long as they still love each other, there is a chance they wouldn't break up."
Hearing this, she relaxed a bit.
"Gary went out alone without Celeste, and it's the same when Celeste goes out. How is this normal?" she asked.
The more she thought about it, the more anxious she became.
"I don't think it's bad for them to have some time apart." He said, "I think you forcing Celeste to go upstairs is something she didn't want."
"Of course, I can tell that she is unwilling, but what can I do? Even if she doesn't want to, I have to create chances for them," Grace said. "But we can't rush things like this," He sighed, "Perhaps they might be arguing now."
"Impossible!" Grace shook her head. "Celeste wouldn't start a fight."
"I agree with you." Heinz said, "Celeste is well-mannered, and she wouldn't. But what about Gary?"
"Even if he wants to, she has to fight back to call it an argument," Grace said.
His lips twitched, and he said, "Well, I still stand by that we couldn't rush things."
She slammed the table.
Heinz shivered.
"So what? I can't not care about this," said Grace.
"Fine. Do what you want." He gave in.
"You!" She pointed upstairs and said, "Go upstairs and check on them."
"What?" His face fell.
She had become so demanding ever since she became pregnant.
She had no care about others at all.
How could she ask him, a grown
man, to
his girlvesdrop on their son and
toge
his girlfriend? He would be too embarrassed to face the world if word got out.
Where would the genius of the business world in Northern City put his face then? How would he do business in the future?
But he couldn't negotiate with her now as she kept on urging him, "You heard me right. Do it now."
"But —" Heinz wanted to convince his wife otherwise, but she interrupted him.
"No buts. Go upstairs immediately." Grace's tone was serious.
Seeing how serious she was, he nodded his head and whispered, "I'll go upstairs and eavesdrop on them now."
