Chapter 2092
Chapter 2092
Gary went upstairs in a downcast mood, looking like he had lost all hope.
In less than three minutes, Sylvia came back looking depressed as well.
She seemed distracted and was nothing like her usual high-spirited self.
It had been a long time since Sylvia came back. She had been staying at her school during her final exams to focus on studying. There was also another reason as well.
Therefore, she only came back after her exams were over.
Now, her winter break had started.
However, none of them expected that she would look so depressed after her exams. Ernest was worried when he saw her like that.
He stepped forward and asked with concern, "What's wrong with you, Sylvia? Who bullied you? Or is it because you didn't do well in your exams?"
He recalled that she had not been overly concerned about her exam results in the past. However, she had worked really hard for the sake of a man, which was something that she had never done before.
From the look on her face, it seemed highly likely that she had not done well in her exams.
Sylvia glanced at Ernest, bit her lip with a bitter look, and suddenly let out a cry.
"Ah!"
She hugged Ernest and shouted, "Ernest, I got first place. I placed first in the entire school. I worked so hard for it, and I did it!"
"That's great! You did well to get first place, but why are you still unhappy?" Ernest was really puzzled.
Sylvia did not speak. She merely hugged Ernest as she started crying hysterically.
"I'm so sad! My heart aches!" she wailed.
"Don't say such sorrowful things. Calm down and tell me what happened," Ernest said soothingly.
Sylvia sobbed even harder. No one knew why she was crying, but they could sense that she was utterly devastated as if her whole world had collapsed.
"Sylvia, don't cry. What happened? This doesn't seem like tears of happiness, is it?" Ernest held her shoulder and looked down at her. She was sobbing miserably.
Sylvia wiped her tears and muttered, "But, he already has a girlfriend. I saw his girlfriend today."
"He?" Ernest was stunned.
He knew at once that she was referring to Kendrix. "He has a girlfriend? Doesn't that mean he was toying with your feelings?" Ernest asked anxiously. The moment he said that, Leah tugged on his sleeve.
Ernest turned around to look at her.
Leah felt that there had already been a lot of things going on in the Jones family. Grace was already so worried, and would only get more worried now that something had happened to Sylvia too.
"What's going on?" Grace asked. "If something happened, just tell us. Don't just cry. What on earth happened?"
Sylvia stiffened. She turned around and glanced at Grace, but she did not say anything.
Ernest saw Grace staring at them with a frown, seeming very anxious. He immediately recalled that she was pregnant and that she should not be worrying so much.
"Mom, don't worry. I'll bring Sylvia upstairs," said Ernest.
In a considerate tone, Leah said to Grace, "Don't worry. Leave Sylvia to us."
Grace nodded without saying anything else.
Ernest dragged Sylvia upstairs, and Leah followed closely behind.
Once they were all in Sylvia's room, they closed the door. Then, Ernest spoke in a low voice, "Did you just say that Kendrix already has a girlfriend?"
Sylvia nodded, feeling aggrieved. Her eyes were red, and tears continued to fall from her eyes.
Ernest frowned as he thought that what happened was quite contradictory to what Gary said before.
It also did not match up to what Sebastian said either. How could Kendrix suddenly have a girlfriend? Ernest wondered.
If Kendrix had always had a girlfriend, then Ernest would not think worse of him. After all, a man of his age should not be single.
However, the problem was that there did not seem to be any signs of Kendrix ever having a girlfriend.
From Ernest's perspective, if Kendrix already had a girlfriend, then he did not have to flirt with Sylvia.
"Sylvia, tell me clearly. Is this Kendrix's current girlfriend or an ex?" "His current girlfriend, of course!" Sylvia cried out.
"Why else would I be so sad right now? I saw it with my own eyes."
"Just how did it happen? Tell me everything clearly." Ernest's tone was serious.

"My exam results came out today, and my teacher said that I got first place in the whole grade. I was so happy that I immediately ran to Kendrix's dormitory to tell him. However, it was a woman who opened the door," Sylvia explained with tears in her eyes. She looked miserable.
The mere recollection of that woman opening the door made Sylvia feel like she was about to suffocate.
Leah, who was next to her, piped up, "So what? Even if a woman opened the door, that doesn't mean anything. Did you ask Kendrix about it yourself? Right now, the important thing is whether Kendrix admitted to her being his girlfriend or not."
"He admitted it!" Sylvia suddenly shouted. "He admitted it! That's why I'm so sad! Leah, I'm not stupid. Of course, I would confirm it first. I needed to know who the woman was. Otherwise, these tears would be in vain!"
"He admitted it?" Leah was shocked. She had not expected that since she thought that things were not as they seemed.
"That's right." Sylvia nodded.
"How strange," Leah mused. She looked toward Ernest, and they exchanged gazes. "If he has a girlfriend, why would he want Sylvia to get first place?"
Ernest shook his head. "How would I know? It seems like I need to talk to him."
"Don't!" Sylvia protested, immediately moving to stop Ernest. "Ernest, don't go. All of you, please don't go. I don't want to see him anymore." Ernest frowned. "Why not? I have to talk to him and find out what's going on."
"I already asked him about it, so stop talking about it. I feel so embarrassed," Sylvia wailed.
Ernest looked at her, then at Leah.

Feeling very helpless, Ernest replied, "Okay, if you don't want me to go, then I won't go. However, you need to promise me that you'll cheer up."
Then, he added, "Sylvia, you were able to get first place today, and that proves that you're a very capable girl. You'll be able to achieve anything in the future. Don't be so pessimistic."
Sylvia was silent.
Ernest stretched out his hand and gently rubbed it over Sylvia's long hair. After comforting her for a little while, he left Sylvia's room with Leah.
All alone in her room, Sylvia felt even more depressed. Just the thought of it was enough to make her cry.
Ernest and Leah stood outside the door, taken aback by the heart-wrenching sobs coming from inside the room. They looked at each other and
sighed.
"Should we ask Sebastian about
this?" Leah suggested. They had already told Grace to leave Sylvia to
them, so naturally, they had to know the whole story. Did Kendrix really have a girlfriend? Or did he say that because he wanted Sylvia to give up?
After all, a relationship between a student and teacher would not be well-received by others.
