Passion 45
Xavier's eyes were filled with emotions Yvette couldn't comprehend. "Where did you get all that money for charity in less than five years? Did Claude give it to you?"
What Yvette didn't know was that since she had left, Xavier hadn't slept well once. He hadn't slept at all these past few days, either. His mind had been filled with the images of Yvette and Claude together. "Claude and I are just friends. I earned my money-"
Before Yvette could finish, Xavier's hand fell on her shoulder, slowly moving downward. "How did you earn it? With this?"
Yvette's mind buzzed. She stared at him with disbelief. "What did you say?"
His hand was warm, but his words were so cold.
Her throat tightened. She clenched her fists tightly, so much so that her fingernails dug into her palms.
Xavier leaned over to her ear and whispered, "Tell me how much Claude gave you. I'll double it!"
His fingers brushed her skin repeatedly, as if he wanted to imprison her in his embrace for eternity.
"Remember how much your family owes me? I'll forget all of it. Just name your price and stay. I'll give you everything!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Yvette couldn't hold back any longer. She raised her hand and slapped, him hard across the face. "You bastard!"
Xavier could feel his face burning, but he didn't feel the pain at all. He grabbed her wrist and stared at her coldly. "Tell me. How much?"
Yvette had known that she had loved the wrong person, but she hadn't realized she had never truly
known him.
She had always thought Xavier's obsession about cleanliness and his aloofness were what made him different from other men. But now, she saw that he was no different. "Mr. Lane, please have some respect."
Xavier gulped. He reached out and held her chin up. "Call me 'Xav'!"
Yvette was stunned.
Xavier stared deeply at her. He was trying to make sure if she really had lost her memory and really had. no feelings for him.
After a long pause, Yvette slowly said, "Xav."
The words came out of her mouth without any warmth. It was completely different from before.
Xavier remembered how she used to hug him and call but his name tenderly after they had gotten married.
"Xav, Xav..."
Xavier's lips tightened. He refused to believe she had lost her memories and had no feelings for him. He leaned down and pressed his lips roughly against hers, kissing her forcefully. Yvette tried to resist, but both her hands were held captive by him.
At that moment, voices could be heard outside the office. "Ms. Reyes, Mr. Lane is in a meeting. You can't go in.""
"I have something important to tell him. Move aside!" Daphne ignored the secretary's attempt to stop her and opened the door.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Yvette struggled and pushed Xavier away.
"Y-Yvette!"
Daphne froze after seeing Yvette.
"Get out!" She heard Xavier shout before she could react.
Yvette hadn't expected to meet Daphne this way. As she was about to leave, Xavier stopped her. "I meant for her to leave, not you!"
Xavier's eyes lingered on Yvette's now-swollen lips. "Ms. Snyder, we still have business to discuss."
Daphne had never felt so humiliated. "Xav, let me know when you're done talking," she said gently. She tried to maintain her composure as she left the office,
Once she was out of the office, her face turned grim and terrifying.
Yvette wasn't dead. How could she still be alive?
