Chapter 751

Everyone was caught off guard. No one expected that Rhett would be impatient enough to attack Hera.

He was about to wrap his thin hands around Hera's slender neck when she leaned back. She instantly held a silver needle between her fingertips as she mercilessly pierced it into his wrist.

Rhett paused before hurriedly retracting his hand with a terrifying scream.

Everyone was momentarily speechless by his yell. It was just a needle prick. Did he have to scream the whole place down?

The smell of blood made Hera immediately look back. Bernard had appeared out of nowhere at the end of the corridor behind her.

He exuded an icy demeanor as he gently wiped the silver gun in his hand. He then asked, "Is everyone here?"

The crowd finally realized that Rhett was shot earlier. A bullet had passed through the back of his right hand.

Blood covered his entire hand, dripping onto the floor. If Rhett's hand wasn't treated in time, it would be beyond saving.

"How dare you shoot me, Bernard! I want you to pay the price! Watch me kill your lover!"

Rhett's eyes went red. He ignored the pain on his wounded hand as he lunged toward Hera again. This time, he hadn't even laid his hands on Hera before being immediately restrained by the two workers behind him.

Having just been freed from his handcuffs, Rhett found his hands were cuffed again. He struggled with all his might.

"Let go of me! How dare you handcuff me again! Have you forgotten how powerful Astral Nova is? Let go of me! Mr. Shaft, quickly order them to release me!"noveldrama

"Astral Nova's guarantee card can only be used once," Samson reminded Rhett.

Rhett was in shock. "Aren't you here to secure my release? I've not even walked out of here yet! And you're telling me that the guarantee card can only be used once? What's that supposed to mean?"

"It's exactly as what's written on the card," Samson said. "The police just released you, and you've also signed the documents. I've already gone through the procedures. But it's none of my business whether you're able to walk out of here alive or how long will it take for you to commit another crime."

Bernard had already invalidated the previous guarantee card Rhett had produced earlier. Thus, he assumed that Rhett no longer had any tricks up his sleeve. However, Bernard never expected that the Second Elder would suddenly use his guarantee card to bail Rhett out.

The Second Elder had always been dissatisfied with the current grandmaster. Ever since Bernard stepped up as grandmaster, the Second Elder often secretly stirred up trouble for him.

The Second Elder probably stepped in at this moment by deliberately setting a trap to expose the grandmaster's true identity. If Bernard invalidated the guarantee card like he did last time, he would have fallen into the Second Elder's trap.

Hence, Bernard asked Samson to counter the Second Elder's plan by heading to the police station and bailing Rhett out. That would exhaust the Second Elder's card.

"You! Mr. Shaft, are you messing with me? Does Astral Nova only guarantee my release for a few minutes? Aren't you afraid of being laughed at once this gets out? That doesn't count! I don't accept it!" Rhett was so furious that he looked like he might explode.

Five minutes hadn't even passed since Rhett was free from his handcuffs, and he was now cuffed again. How was this considered being bailed out?

Rhett had not even celebrated his freedom. He assumed that the grandmaster of Astral Nova would back him up. Yet his happiness did not last long before he was back to square one.

Samson silently acknowledged that Bernard had indeed tricked Rhett. But Samson maintained a solemn expression as he answered, "We've secured your release this time. If you want Astral Nova to vouch for you again, please bring another guarantee card to us." Samson couldn't be bothered whether Rhett willingly acknowledged that fact. After completing the procedures, he took the signed documents before turning to leave.

Hera couldn't help but chuckle. They were indeed messing with everyone.

"Since everyone's here, let's begin," Bernard said coldly.

Nathan nodded before gesturing to the person behind him. "Bring them in."

The staff member behind him hummed in response before leaving to lead all the Killians in.

Very quickly, the entire Killian family was escorted into the room.

Rhett still hadn't recovered from his fury at Astral Nova for not backing him up yet. The

sight of the entire Killian family being led into the room left him in shock.

He had a bad gut feeling that Hera was right. There was no guarantee that he could leave the police station today.
