Chapter 4
Avril thought about it for a long time. She could not recall where had she seen this man.
When Avril was still puzzled, Angie broke free from the man's grasp. She threw a look of disdain at the handsome man standing before her.-
When Angie first met him, she took the initiative to hook up with him just because she thought this handsome man had some money, so he could buy her new clothes and expensive jewelry. As it turned out, he was poor and lazy. Hence, she had long planned to dump him.
"Haider Evans Ventrue! I wasn't serious about our relationship anyway. So now, I'm done with you!" Angie exclaimed.
"Oh, really? What a pity," Haider's seductive voice raised slightly towards the end of the sentence. He sounded like an outsider.
Haider gave Angie a meaningful glare. He used Angie to get close to Avril. If he didn't arrange such a scene today, how could he get close to Avril so easily?
He turned around and looked at Avril with his deep violet eyes. "Hello, pretty Lady, what a coincidence. We have both been dumped today!" Avril was stunned by his handsome looks. He looked like a perfect God from Ancient Greek mythology. His figure exuded an aura of power. Even though he was wearing a cheap white shirt, it couldn't hide his nobility in the slightest.
Avril stared right into his eyes. She suddenly heard an inner voice telling her, "You should not look like a fool in front of Jack and Angie!"
She looked away from Haider's mesmerizing, dark violet eyes. Avril had an inexplicable anger rising in her all of a sudden. Her azure blue eyes, as clear as lake water, were staring angrily at Jack. "Hey, Mr. Handsome, you've got it wrong! I'm not sad about him dumping me at all! In fact, I'm actually glad it happened. They both look like two maggots in a stinking drain now. I wish I could get this disgusting man out of my life immediately!"
"Avril?" Jack frowned. "Do you mean that you are going to break off the engagement?"
"Of course!" Avril said haughtily. She looked at the handsome man next to her and grabbed his hand. "If I asked my admirers to line up, the whole queue would stretch from the streets of London all the way to the end of Arton Street. Who do you think you are, Jack? Not only am I going to break off the engagement with you, I'm going to marry him right now!"
Avril raised her head and stared into Haider's eyes. "Mister, so your name is Haider Evans Ventrue?"
Haider lowered his head and chuckled. In his eyes, there was a sparkle of delight. "Yes, Miss Avril."
"Will you marry me?" Avril asked, her heart was pounding rapidly. She was nervous.
Haider froze, and his fingertips began trembling. He could not figure out what was Avril thinking.
After a while, he nodded sincerely with affirmation.
Great! He agreed!
Avril was delighted. She looked at Jack and Angie with despise. "I wish you two shameless sc*mbags eternal happiness!"
Ignoring the embarrassment and anger of the two people behind her, Avril took Haider's hand and strode away from that disgusting place.
As soon as she turned the corner, she could finally put down her strong facade. She let go of Haider's hand, lowered her head, and said in a muffled voice, "Thank you, Haider. Thanks for letting me keep my last shred of dignity."
She did not know where she got the courage to blurt out those words to Jack and Angie. It was supposed to be a big day for her, the day of her marriage. However, what she actually got was the betrayal of her fiance and her best friend.
She could no longer hold her tears back, and she felt like her heart was sliced into pieces. Avril pressed her chest as she burst into tears.
Haider's heart felt an intense pain when he saw her cry. His pale fingers gently wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes. "Don't cry. Women's tears are as valuable as pearls. It's not worth it to be sad over such a useless man." Haider tried to comfort her.
Avril stared at him with a dazzled look. She felt lost. Her sight was then drawn to the ring on his index finger.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
The ring was crafted in the shape of a rose, and it was black all over. It seemed to have been worn out by time. Perhaps, it was a very ancient artifact.
For some reason, she felt that the ring was giving off an aura that she was familiar with.
Haider's gently said, "You said that you wanted me to marry you just now. Were you serious?"
Avril snapped back to her senses. She wiped away the tears on her face and said, "Yes, I was! Let's get married right now!" Her voice was still hoarse from crying. She was going to get married anyway. It didn't matter whom she was married to!
She wanted to slam the marriage certificate they got onto Jack's face and make him regret for what he had done!
