WARMING THE BILLIONAIRE COLD HEART

KIMBERLY BOYFRIEND

The first thing Kimberly felt when she woke up was a headache. She blinked her eyes several times until her consciousness fully gathered. She briefly looked around the room and concluded that she was at Nicholas’s house now. However, what she remembered was not the room she had slept in last night. As far as she knew, her bedroom was gray, not black mixed with white like this. So, whose room was she in now?

“Are you awake?”

A deep voice sounded clearly in Kimberly’s ears. Searching for the source of the voice, Kimberly found the man sitting on the sofa, sipping coffee in his hand.

“This isn’t my room, is it?” Kimberly asked.

Nicholas nodded. “Yes, this is my bedroom,” Nicholas replied. “I originally wanted to put you in your room, but it was locked. Fortunately, the spare key was inside.”

Kimberly suddenly remembered that she had intentionally locked her room this morning and had put the spare key in her work bag. It wasn’t surprising, as it was a habit she often did when leaving the house.

“Thank you, and I’m sorry for causing you trouble,” Kimberly said.

Nicholas got up from his sitting position.

“No need to thank me; consider it a role-playing exercise as a lover,” Nicholas said. Kimberly’s face turned red involuntarily upon hearing Nicholas’s words. She didn’t expect him to say such a thing.

“Can you get up now?” Nicholas asked, and Kimberly nodded.

“I’m feeling better than before.”

“In that case, change your clothes now, then go to the dining room. You need to eat and take your medicine.”

While Nicholas waited in the dining room, Kimberly quickly changed her work clothes into casual attire she usually wore at home. When she entered the dining room, Nicholas had to swallow hard again. Last night, Kimberly casually had dinner wearing just a bathrobe, and now she was sitting casually in a thin cotton tank top paired with knee-length denim shorts. She didn’t seem to care about Nicholas’s current struggle to fend off all the strange thoughts in his mind.

Stay strong, my God’s servant.

Nicholas kept repeating that sentence in his heart.

After all, I’m a normal man.

How could she dress so minimally in front of me?

I mustn’t pounce on her.

Realizing that the man in front of her remained silent and didn’t say anything, Kimberly wondered.

“Aren’t you eating?”

Nicholas shook his head.

“Just finish your meal, so you can recover quickly. You’re quite a hassle when you’re sick.”

“I can take care of myself,” Kimberly whispered softly.

Nicholas smirked.

“Oh, really? If you forget, this is the second time you’ve inconvenienced me. It turns out you can’t keep your word,” Kimberly chose to remain silent. She acted as if she had no appetite to respond to Nicholas’s comments as she usually would. Maybe it was because she still felt weak, so she let Nicholas talk as much as he wanted.

Realizing that Kimberly remained silent after hearing his words, Nicholas was puzzled. His intention was to mock her so that she would get angry and respond as usual. He preferred Kimberly when she was always angry and protested when he told her something.

Kimberly turned away from her food and looked at Nicholas for a moment before reaching for the spoon in her bowl.

“Do you want to try it?” Suddenly, in the silence between the two of them, Kimberly offered Nicholas the food she was eating.

Nicholas shook his head. “No, you go ahead and eat.”

It’s not that Nicholas didn’t want to accept Kimberly’s offer. It’s just that she was eating porridge right now. Nicholas really disliked anything related to porridge. He remembered when he was a child and when he was sick, his mother always forced him to eat porridge for days. That’s why he hated porridge so much.

“It’s delicious; you should try it,” Kimberly seemed determined not to give up this time.

“Delicious? I feel like a baby or an elderly person with no teeth when eating porridge like this,” Nicholas protested.

This time, Kimberly immediately scooped up some porridge from her bowl and directed it right towards Nicholas. “Just try it once; I’m not lying, it’s delicious,” Kimberly coaxed.

Nicholas reluctantly responded, “Alright, just one bite.” Kimberly immediately fed him the spoonful of porridge she had scooped earlier, observing how Nicholas struggled to chew the porridge she offered.

On the other hand, Nicholas resigned himself to enjoying the taste of the food he hadn’t touched in so long.

“How is it? Tasty, isn’t it?” Kimberly asked.

“Not too bad, even though it still tastes the same. If you hadn’t forced me, I might have thrown up by now,” Nicholas said. He purposely dramatized it to get Kimberly to stop offering.

“In that case, try this lasagna instead. I’ll feed you.” Kimberly scooped up some beef lasagna from her bowl and directed it toward Nicholas’s mouth. However, before Nicholas could accept the bite, repeated knocks on the door from outside forced the two of them to stop eating.

“Who’s visiting at this time of the evening!” Nicholas muttered. In his heart, he had already cursed and cursed anyone who was now at the front door. How could they interrupt him and Kimberly while they were enjoying their meal together?

As the knocking at the door grew louder, Nicholas walked quickly while creating thousands of curses in his mind. Just you wait; if it’s not important, I swear I’ll slam the door shut.

“Why did it take you so long to open the door?” said the man who turned out to be Edward. He looked around as if searching for Kimberly.

“I told you, there’s no need to visit Kimberly. She’s fine; now go home. Your presence is already bothering me,” Nicholas ordered.

Actually, that wasn’t the real reason Nicholas declined Edward’s visit. He just didn’t want a notorious playboy like Edward to meet Kimberly in her current state of minimal clothing. The man could easily be tempted, and Nicholas had to prevent that from happening. He was not willing for his friend to have impure thoughts about Kimberly.

No.

I won’t let Edward meet Kimberly this time.

Edward shook his head firmly. “I have to see Kimberly first. I need to make sure she’s okay.”

Nicholas raised an eyebrow. “Who are you to Kimberly that you have the obligation to check on her?”

“I-I… just consider me her friend. Or you can also consider me her boss or her secret admirer; it doesn’t matter. The important thing is I want to see her right now.”

Edward tried to move forward to enter Nicholas’s apartment. Quickly, Nicholas blocked him by pushing his body. “Kimberly is sleeping, Ed. You can see her at the office tomorrow.”

“What’s the harm in meeting her for a moment, Nick? Besides, you’re not officially her boyfriend yet, right?” Edward protested.

Nicholas grumbled in frustration.

“In that case, consider me Kimberly’s boyfriend starting from this moment. That’s why I forbid anyone, especially any man, from seeing my girlfriend!”

Just as Edward was about to reply to his opponent’s statement, Nicholas forcefully closed the apartment door.

Damn!

You made me think of wanting to steal Kimberly away from you, Nick.
