WIFE SERIES: THE BATTERED WIFE (ENGLISH VERSION)

CHAPTER 28: NEW PROJECT

"So, what's your plan? What they are offering to you is a big project, Minakels, the only case is in the Philippines.

We're currently having our dinner. Seth and my parents were just staring at me, even Adrian was innocently looking at me while eating french fries. They are here with Adrian to celebrate the success of my recent movie. Tricia and her husband are in Paris but they're now coming home.

I didn't answer first even though I had already decided what my plan was.

"But I'm sure the story is good because we already read the book version before," Lily added.

I looked at Seth. "Let Mina decide, Lily."

"So, Brother. I'm not saying anything, eh. I'm just saying that the story is good-"

"I am going to accept the offer," I said. I put down the spoon and fork and wiped my mouth. "We can't hide forever, you know."

Lily rolled her eyes. "Duh? Who says we're hiding, Minakels? We're not, okay? We came here to a foreign country to take our chances. And this is where you found the chance you are looking for so why do you say we are hiding?"

I raised both of my hands. I just didn't answer what she said because she was probably just going to suck me up.

"All right, we're not hiding. As I was saying, I am accepting the offer because I also want to take a vacation in the Philippines."

"Eh, how about that one?" Lily pointed to Seth. My brother will lose his mind if you'll meet your ex there."

I turned to Seth. He just smiles. As usual, there is a trace of comprehension on his face. When he nodded, Lily screamed. "Gosh, Kuya Seth. You are a hopeless case. But anyway, 'you can't stop Minakels because' you don't own her heart yet. I was about to say something when Seth winked at me.

"Because I happened to know my place, little sister. And it's also what you called trust and confidence.

"As much as you know, Brother. Well, at least, as a manager and a best friend, don't worry, I will watch over Minakels for you. "No need for you to do that. Let Mina do whatever she wants, as long as she doesn't get hurt."

"You're a hopeless case, Kuya."

"Whatever you call it."Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

My parents and I just kept quiet while listening to the two. When I looked at my parents' behavior, it was clear to them that they were having doubts. I know they don't want me to go back to the Philippines anymore and somehow they are used to living their life here. But they are not the type of parents to lead me in my decision.

"What is your decision, Mina?"

The two stopped arguing because of Dad's question. "What should I do?"

"That's up to you. But I hope you don't forget the good manners that your mother and I taught you. We raised you well and we taught you how to forgive those who have sinned against you. In our lives, sometimes, all we have to do is allow ourselves to step away from the past so that we can live happily and contentedly. And to do that we must sincerely forgive those who have wronged us."

I didn't respond to what Dad said, because when I agreed with what he said it was no longer match with what I wanted to happen.

Have I moved on yet?

Not yet. The pain is still here, especially the anger in my heart.

I want to crush them. Piece by piece until they run out of breath and accepting this project was my first step.

"I GUESS you're deep in thought?" Seth said. We were on the veranda while having our coffee. It's past midnight here but we haven't slept yet.

I leaned against the baluster and looked back at his habit.

"It's funny..." I began. "It's funny how I ended up with so much grief in my heart. And that grief turned to anger. I am still furious when I remember my son I never even saw. I still cry and no matter how many times I take medicine, those nightmares don't go away. I don't know where this anger will take me, Seth ... "

"Can I still stop you, Mina?"

I shuddered before tears continued to flow into my eyes. "Not anymore, Seth, because I can't just forget my past. I am sorry, Seth, I have to do this." I rubbed my face with both my palms and cried and cried.

Seth stepped closer to me and hugged me. "Cry in my chest where in this way I can show you that you are not alone in your life."

We stayed in this situation for a few minutes. He hugged and supported me as I cried. When I felt better I looked up so we both met our gaze.

I slowly drew my face closer to his and kissed him. The kiss didn't last long. He deliberately moved his lips away from mine.

"I will wait, Mina. I will wait for the time when you are free - when your heart is free of any emotion for Tranz." Seth caressed my cheek before kissing me on the forehead. "Goodbye, Love... I'll see when I see you ..." he said goodbye before he walked to the veranda door.

I was stunned. There was a bump on my chest because of what he said so I couldn't stop myself from calling him.

"Seth!"

He turned to my side. As he turned around I saw the tingling of pain in his eyes.

"W-we'll see each other again, won't we?"

"I'll assure you that, Love..." he replied so I could breathe easily. "But don't expect overseas calls from me. But I'll send you a card from time to time..."

I nodded and smiled. "Surprise me."

He just smiled before he finally left. I bite my lip.

I hope you know what you're doing, Mina ...
