Chapter 204
Chapter 204 | Am Here
The next morning, when Maia got to the kitchen, a housekeeper greeted her politely and handed her a wooden meal box. Maia accepted it and opened it in surprise. They were Nester’s apple pies.
“Where did you get them?”
“Mr. Cedric told us to give this to you as soon as you came down for breakfast.”
He remembered! Did he go to Nester personally to get them?
“He bought them?”
The housekeeper nodded and added, “I saw Mr. Cedric leaving the house at midnight as | was getting off work. When he came back at 7am this morning, he had the meal box with him.”
Maia could not believe her ears. Why did he go through all the trouble just to do this?
“Ms. Maia, what do you have in your hands? It’s such a pretty meal box!” One of the housekeepers who had just walked in on them asked curiously.
“They're apple pies!”
“Ms. Maia, you must really love them! Are you hungry? Should we prepare breakfast for you?” The housekeepers smiled and asked..
“It’s fine. I'll just have this.” She waved the box at the housekeepers. “Right! Nothing beats Mr. Cedric’s loving gestures!” The housekeepers piped in as they smiled at her before going back to work.
Maia frowned as she looked at the meal box. A complex rush of emotions flooded her as she smacked her lips and walked toward the entrance of the villa.
Gilbert was already waiting for her. Maia nodded at him and got into the car. When Maia was about to open her meal box, her cell phone rang.
It was Celia’s manager. She answered the call with an uneasy feeling. The moment she picked up, she could hear him sobbing as he struggled to form words. “M- Ms. Maia. S—she’s gone.” Maia’s heart tightened as she said, “What are you talking about?”
“| just got news that Celia has killed herself by jumping off the building.” Celia’s manager could no longer hold it in as he cried uncontrollably.
“Please, calm down. Are you still at the hospital?” © +15 BONUS “Yes. The police are still not sure if there was any foul play but I’m quite sure th-that she committed suicide. It was all my fault!
“| should’ve known that something wasn’t right. She was acting strange yesterday, smiling. and looking all relaxed. | didn’t know that she had wanted to do this. She had even given me a letter to pass to you.
“She said that she was embarrassed, so she asked if | could help her do it. | should’ve known, | should've stopped her!” He explained as he kept blaming himself.
Maia’s eyes were red from the grief as she forced herself to remain calm, “I'll be at the hospital shortly.”
As soon as she ended the call, she told Gilbert to drive to the hospital as fast as he could. When Maia got there, she saw a huge crowd of Celia’s fans were already there after hearing about it on the news. They were yelling her name as they stood at the sidewalk across the hospital.
Sadly, Celia would not be able to hear them anymore.
Maia’s phone beeped incessantly as notifications of news about Celia started coming in. When she got to Celia’s room, there were police officers everywhere. She spotted Errol, sitting in at corner in the quiet corridor.
Maia walked slowly toward him and stooped to his level, “I'm here.” It was as if Maia was telling Celia that she is here too.
Errol raised his eyes to meet Maia’s as he started sobbing uncontrollably. He placed a letter onto Maia’s hands shakily. “This was what | got from Celia’s manager. She wanted him to pass this to you. I’ve read it and my heart aches terribly.”
Errol brushed away his tears roughly and punched the wall.
“Errol, stop it! Celia wouldn’t want to see you hurting yourself because of her!” Maia stopped
him and comforted him. All Errol could do was shake his head. He kept shaking and punching himself. His guilt was eating him inside. Maia could only restrain him to stop him from hurting himself. “Errol, please calm down!”
“How could | calm down? It’s all my fault! | went down to get her something to eat when she told me she was hungry. | thought that she would be fine on her own as her condition wasContent protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
stable.
“I told her to wait for me. | thought she would be okay. By the time | came back, the window was open, and she was gone.” Errol could not stop trembling as he signed to Maia.
Maia had never seen Errol in this state. Not even when he was beaten to the ground by Yvette’s 2/3
“| looked everywhere. | could never forget the moment | saw her. She was just lying there, motionless. She was just lying there, and | couldn’t save her!”
Maia bit her trembling lips hard. She looked at the shattered window and blinked. Tears were streaming down her face uncontrollably.
Maia waited as the police swept the scene and interviewed Errol. She lowered her head and looked at the letter that was bunched up in her hand. As she opened it, she noticed that there were tear marks on it, probably from Errol when he read the letter.
