Chapter 948 Greed
When Luna heard the door creak, she immediately turned to look, the frosted glass reflecting a tall figure.
“I’m here,” she said.
She had already washed up, but going out meant facing Orion.
There was still some hesitation in her heart.
She wasn’t being melodramatic.
It’s just that some memories, like a curse, always lingered around her.
She didn’t want to hurt Orion, so she needed some time to adjust.
“Not done washing yet?” Orion wasn’t asking for anything, he was just worried about her spending too long inside.
“Almost, don’t worry, I’m fine,” she replied to the door.
Orion nodded, “Okay, let me know if you need anything.”
“Okay.”
Luna stood in front of the mirror, towel in hand.
The face in the mirror looked nothing like before.
Sometimes she felt like a stranger when she looked at herself.
She took a deep breath.
She closed her eyes, telling herself that just taking one step forward could lead to a different future.
For the stars, for herself, she had to be brave, she thought to herself.
She placed the towel neatly and walked out of the bathroom.
The air outside was cool.
Probably because the bathroom was too stuffy.
Being in the fresh air made her clear-headed and refreshed.
She walked towards the bedroom.
Orion wasn’t there.
The room was empty.
Where was he?
But the fact that he wasn’t there made her feel relieved.
She walked into the room, lay on the bed, looking up at the ceiling with its halo of light making her dizzy.
She closed her eyes, tired from the day.
Gradually, a drowsiness crept over her.
But she didn’t let herself fall asleep.
Orion hadn’t arrived yet.
She lay there for a while, then got up to look for him, only to find him sitting on the couch, browsing through something on his laptop.
She heated up a glass of milk for him.
“Drink up, get some rest early,” she said.
Orion looked up at her, “Hmm.”
“I’m going to bed first,” she said.
Orion nodded, “Okay, I’ll handle some work stuff.”
Luna nodded.
She turned and went back to the room.
Now she could sleep peacefully.
She pulled the blanket up, closed her eyes.
After Luna left, Orion stopped moving the mouse on his laptop.
He was actually worried about Luna.
He knew that she needed time to work through her emotions.
He didn’t want to rush her or cause her more stress.
She had spent so long in the bathroom, it was clear she wasn’t ready to face herself yet.
Orion understood her current situation.
He purposely worked late before returning to the room.
Luna had fallen asleep.
But she was a light sleeper, any small noise would wake her.
She opened her eyes.
He heard the door open and close.
His footsteps were getting closer.
She clenched the bedsheet under her, her hands gripping it tightly.
The sheets beneath her crumpled.
She kept her eyes closed.
The blanket behind her was lifted.
She could feel the mattress depressing under him.
She kept her eyes closed, pretending to be asleep without moving.
Orion lay down, turning his head to look at Luna.
She seemed deeply asleep.
He turned to lie closer to her, his arm resting on her waist.
Feeling her tense body, Orion realized she wasn’t asleep.
If she was asleep, her body wouldn’t be so rigid.
He whispered, “Go to sleep, I won’t disturb you.”
Luna’s body relaxed slightly at his words.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
She whispered, “I… I’m not ready yet.”
“I know.” Orion moved closer to her, his chest against her back. “I’ll give you time.”
Luna softly mumbled in agreement.
With Orion’s understanding, she felt more at ease.
But she didn’t want Orion to keep making sacrifices, she would also try to overcome her struggles.
She turned around, nestling into Orion’s arms.
Orion pursed his lips tightly.
He felt only joy in his heart at that moment.
He could feel that Luna was truly making an effort.
He believed things would get better in the future.
He closed his eyes, gently patting Luna, “Go to sleep.”
…
The next day.
Luna continued her therapy sessions.
Freya was waiting outside for her.
It was almost eleven when Luna finally emerged.
Freya stood up.
Luna said, “Let’s have lunch together.”
Freya nodded, “Okay.”
They found a nice restaurant.
“Luna, I’m treating you today, so order whatever you want, don’t hold back,” Luna said.
From her tone, Freya could tell that Luna’s mood had improved, no longer as stifled as before.
It seemed that the therapy was working.
Luna’s mindset had changed quite a bit.
She smiled, “Sure, I won’t hold back.”
She browsed through the menu.
Ordered a few dishes she liked.
Luna was treating her, so she had to be polite.
As they waited for their food, Luna said, “I was with Orion last night.”
Freya took a sip of water from the glass on the table.
She wasn’t surprised.
Luna could see the good in anyone.
“Orion must be very happy, right?” Freya said.
Luna reminisced about her time with Orion.
She said, “I’m happy too.”
“You can see, I’m happy, for you, for Orion, for the stars.”
If Luna kept holding back, it would only hurt Orion and the stars.
It was only a matter of time now.
Luna would eventually let go of the past.
She looked forward to that day.
“You’ve been back in the country for a few days now, when are you planning to go back?” Luna asked.
Before Freya could reply, she added, “Your return this time was because of me and Orion, but now that our situation is resolved, you don’t have to worry.”
Luna was considerate of Freya.
She was a married woman with two children.
Being away from home for too long, even if it didn’t mean much to Elijah, the children would miss her.
Freya nodded, “I’m planning to go back.”
She played with the cup on the table, “I finally understand the greatness of being a housewife.”
Luna chuckled, “Is that a realization?”
Freya nodded, “Giving up work, spending all day around your husband and children, can be quite dull.”
“It’s not like you just came back from a trip?” Luna teased her, “Was the trip not enjoyable?”
“It was enjoyable,” Freya said honestly, “Being with family, going out for a trip, it was relaxing. It’s just coming back home and having nothing to do.”
“Kai has a lot of courses to attend, Morton loves having me around, my mom can help, we have a maid for housework, so you see, I’m quite idle.”
“Tsk tsk, if an ordinary woman hears you, she’d probably want to shut your mouth. Aren’t you just showing off?” Luna joked, “Others would envy wanting to live a life like yours.”
She said, “Look at you, aren’t you happy enough? Your husband is handsome and successful, you have a maid at home, and the kids require little attention. Just be a gracious lady, what else do you need?”
Freya laughed, “I’m content, I’m content.”
“If you’re not content, then you’re just greedy.”
The waiter brought their dishes.
As they waited for all the dishes to arrive.
Luna picked up her chopsticks and served Freya some food, “Let’s have a meal together before you leave.”
Freya asked, “With Orion?”
