Chapter 269
Chapter 269
Skylar turned around and saw Yohan standing behind him looking relaxed. It seemed like he wasn't at
all affected by the fact that Coralie had been kidnapped.
"This happened in A City. I'm just here to confirm if it has anything to do with me."
Skylar tried to brush it off.
"Seems like President Holland is pretty sentimental."
Yohan squinted his eyes and said with displeasure.
"Skylar, Wayne!" A lady's voice exclaimed.
Jamie had been following Skylar since just now to see what was actually going on.
She had been wandering outside the ward. Other than seeing Skylar and Yohan, she realized that the
person sitting on the bed was Wayne.
Wayne was caught off guard when he saw Jamie come in aggressively. "Jamie?" He said.
"What's wrong with you!" Jamie asked.
She deduced that since Skylar also came, Wayne might be seriously ill.
"Why are you here?" Skylar asked. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
He frowned and looked troubled when he saw Jamie who was standing beside Wayne.
"I...... I'm here to see Wayne. Can't I visit him when he's ill?" Jamie answered.
Although she was guilty and even regretted rushing into the ward as an impulsive move, she had
already entered the ward anyways. There was already no turning back.
Yohan looked at Jamie and said to Skylar sarcastically, "Skylar, you're not here alone. You even
brought your family over. You really don't see yourself as an outsider, do you?"
"Who are you? Do I need to be criticized by you when I visit my junior?" Jamie rebutted.
Although she found Yohan familiar, she did not have much impression of him.
Jamie was upset witnessing the way Yohan spoke to Skylar.
"Go home, Jamie!"
Skylar demanded.
He didn't want Jamie to be involved in this matter.
"I have to first figure out what happened to Wayne," Jamie insisted.
"Nothing. I was knocked out......"
Wayne was slightly embarrassed as he didn't expect Jamie to be concerned about him.
After all, he felt ashamed as he wasn't able to protect Coralie, and was even hospitalized from being
knocked out.
Yohan stood aside and watched them for a long time.
Although he did not say a word, he wasn't pleased by the way Wayne looked at Jamie.
After some time, he asked, "Skylar, aren't you going to introduce me to this lady here?"
"I don't think that's necessary," Skylar replied.
He didn't want Yohan to have a relationship with anyone in his family.
Especially Jamie.
Jamie's character was relatively straightforward and it wouldn't be ideal to have any contact with
Yohan.
"Then I'll have to introduce myself. I am Coralie's husband."
Yohan enunciated.
Hearing this, other than Skylar, Jamie and Wayne were both stunned.
"Skylar, that's impossible! She already married?"
Jamie asked Skylar.
"No, no, let me add. It was probably because Skylar lost to me but needed his woman to pay on his
behalf."
Yohan smirked.
He tried his best to make fun of Skylar to highlight his victory.
Previously, when he was competing with Skylar, there were only a few people present and no one
cheered for his victory. However, the situation was different now.
"Skylar, that can't be right."
Jamie looked at Skylar, puzzled.
She knew that Coralie was not the kind of person who would just abandon her husband and child.
Indeed, there was a backstory to this.
"Alright. You can leave now. Don't bother about this matter," Skylar commanded.
He knew that he couldn't say anything for now.
As for the competition a year ago, he was still investigating that. However, he couldn't allow Yohan to
know about it.
That was why he had maintained a low profile for the past year and had always accompanied Hendric
for his treatment. From an outsider's point of view, he seemed to have let go of Coralie and had
devoted all his attention to Hendric.
It was exactly because of this that Yohan hadn't noticed anything so far.
"Skylar! How can you hand over Coralie to someone else?" Jamie questioned.
"This is not something you have to worry about," Skylar said.
"Skylar! I've always admired you. I didn't expect you to be like this!"
Jamie was arguing with Skylar from her own standpoint.
Yohan was standing at the side and was pleased to see how things turned out.
......
After Coralie was kidnapped.
She was taken into the car and her head was covered by a shabby cloth bag; her hands were tied
together.
She couldn't struggle much as her arm was previously injured.
"Boss, what should we do now?" Someone asked.
Covered by the bag, Coralie could hear someone talking. She didn't dare to say a word or struggle.
In fact, Coralie was all alone at this moment and didn't have any possessions in hand. There was
nothing that she was afraid of. Even if the kidnappers ended up killing her, it wouldn't bother her much
other than feeling sorry for Hendric and her family.
Coralie appeared extraordinarily calm because of this.
"I don't know. Let me think about it."
Another person replied.
"Boss, this woman didn't struggle at all. I feel that this is a little strange," one of them said.
"Who cares! D*mn it, can we back out now?" the person who was referred to as 'Boss' responded.
"Yes, Boss. What do you think we should do then? Do you think Leonardo will return the patent to me
after we kidnap her?" One of them asked.
"Shut up! How would I know that? Don't annoy me," the Boss replied again.
Coralie sat in the car and quietly listened to the conversation between the both of them.
She seemed to have figured out why they kidnapped her. It must be that they were trying to exchange
something with Yohan.
It seemed to be related to a patent?
"Why did you kidnap me? What do you want? I can let you talk to Yohan directly. I mean Leonardo,"
Coralie offered.
She guessed that both of them were not professional kidnappers.
It seemed from their conversation that they were already in a state of desperation.
"Really?" The man who sounded slightly younger said. "Boss, she said she can help us!"
"Are you stupid? She is trying to deceive you. Haven't you watched any movies before? As long as you
make a phone call, people will know our location and come to save the hostage."
The boss scolded him right away.
Coralie wasn't sure if mobile phones had this function, but she was more certain than ever that these
two kidnappers were not professionals.
"Right, right. Boss, you are the smartest." Next, the man asked, "But Boss, if we don't make a phone
call, how do we contact Leonardo? How do we tell him that as long as he returns the patent to us, we
will let this woman go?"
"How would I know?"
The boss seemed to be driving, and he sounded very agitated.
"Boss, will we go to jail if we are caught by the police?" The man asked.
"Go to jail? If he doesn't return the patent to us, we'll starve to death!" the Boss replied.
Coralie sat there and heard their conversation. "What patent?" she asked.
"Why should I tell you? You are Leonardo's fiancee and you're as evil as he is!"
The boss responded.
"You know that I am his fiancee?" Coralie asked.
She was puzzled. Based on what Yohan told her previously, he hadn't made their relationship official to
the public. Moreover, both of them seemed like small businessmen, or even more insignificant than
that.
How would people like them know her identity?
"Of course, someone told us this."
The younger kidnapper casually said.
"Shut up! Get out of here if you speak one more word!"
The boss was even more annoyed after hearing them.
"Who told you that? Did that person specifically tell you because he knows that you are in trouble?"
Coralie asked again.
She was already very calm at that moment.
She realized that these two kidnappers weren't scary. What was more terrifying was the person who
told them her identity.
