Chapter 290
Chapter 290
Harriet was forced to say it in public.
Cullen patted Harriet on the shoulder and said, "I'm here. Don't be afraid. I'll help you."
Hearing that, Harriet was calm. With Cullen around, how dare Xavier do anything to her?
She raised her head and looked at Xavier, "Yes."
Xavier glanced at her, "Fine." © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Xavier opened the file on the table and there was a call record inside. It was Harriet's. It was clear who
she had called, when, and how long each call lasted.
Xavier pointed to Rufus', phone number and asked, "Please tell me why did you call him so
frequently?"
Harriet's fingers curled up little by little, but she was calm. After all, it was not evidence, "Can't I talk to
my friend?"
Cullen, on the other hand, frowned. His deep wrinkles were deeper.
When his son had an accident, he found that Mr. Gates has something to do with that, but there was no
evidence.
How could Harriet be with Rufus? They seemed to be in contact quite frequently.
Xavier was not in a hurry to expose it. He leaned back on the sofa and held a cigarette in his mouth.
After lighting it, he took a deep breath and looked at Harriet through the smoke.
They had known each other for a long time. Xavier realized that this woman had probably never shown
her true feelings.
He had been with her for almost four years.
'Am I stupid?'
Xavier smiled sarcastically at himself.
All of a sudden, Xavier bent down and placed his hands casually on his legs, staring at her. "Harriet, tell
me, how long and what do you talk about?"
Everyone looked at her.
Obviously, it couldn't be just a few seconds or two minutes.
Because the longest call in the call history was only two minutes, so it didn't seem that they had
chatted.
Henry looked at the time on the call log and narrowed his eyes. Rufus appeared twice at the villa at the
same time.
The first time, Henry went to the villa to see Ryan. It was about ten o'clock in the morning, and Harriet's
phone records showed that she had called Rufus at nine o'clock. The second time Henry went to the
villa when Xavier came back. When they left for the villa, Harriet and Rufus also spoke on the phone.
The call only lasted a few seconds.
The call was like a reminder or a notice.
Was it a coincidence?
Henry glanced at Harriet more meaningfully.
Harriet panicked and explained in a panic, "Of course, we don't have something to talk about. So we
talked for a short time."
She grabbed Cullen's sleeve, "Grandpa, I don't care. I don't want to be interrogated like a prisoner."
Cullen looked at her confused eyes and understood.
He was so disappointed in her.
Cullen held the top of the armrest of the wheelchair tightly and said solemnly. Because he was already
old, he spoke in a not that powerful way, "How can you just admit it after being wronged? It's the way
children from the Porter Family will do."
Harriet was stunned. This sentence completely messed her up.
She threw herself into Cullen's arms, "Grandpa, I'm just afraid..."
Cullen pushed her up, "What are you afraid of? The call record doesn't prove anything."
"Miss, you'd better sit down." The deputy officer behind Cullen pulled Harriet up.
Harriet lowered her head and was in a mess. She couldn't help but look at the file on the table. It
seemed that there was something inside.
'What could it be?'
She would not dare to let Xavier continue.
If Cullen knew that she was lying to him, he would definitely be unhappy.
Thinking about it, Harriet admitted, "I... I lied. Arya didn't find someone to hit me."
Xavier was so confident because he had conclusive evidence. At this time, she should admit it so that
she still had the initiative.
When Xavier revealed everything, she would really lose trust in the people present. Not to mention
marrying into the Jones Family, even Henry would dislike her.
Harriet looked at everyone with tearful eyes, "I lied to you..."
"Why did you do that?" Cullen asked.
"Because of him." Harriet pointed at Xavier. "I was the one who should have married you. She
snatched you away from me. I hated her. Xavier, that's why I framed her and made everyone hate her."
If Harriet refused to admit it, others could blame her. But she was so frank, so it would be hard for
others to scold her.
Besides, she was engaged to Xavier at first.
It was understandable that she had resentment.
Henry was not. He felt upset because he understood that Rufus would always happen to appear at the
villa, not by chance, but by premeditation.
From the beginning, it was Harriet who wanted Arya to leave the Jones Family and did so much.
Harriet was such a cunning woman.
She knew what Henry cared about and did something he couldn't bear it so that he did something
irrational.
Henry was tired of scheming outside. When he got home, he wanted to be more relaxed. He never
thought that the people around him would be more calculating.
Harriet lowered her head, "Grandpa, I'm sorry."
Cullen was silent.
Harriet looked at Cullen, "Grandpa."
This was a good time to ask Xavier to marry her. Harriet squatted down in front of Cullen. "Grandpa,
didn't you promise me..."
"Stop." Cullen waved his hand and said, "I'm tired."
The deputy immediately understood what he meant and pushed his wheelchair. Just as Henry was
about to step forward, Cullen said, "I'm tired."
Harriet ran over unwillingly to block Cullen's way out, "Grandpa, I like Xavier so much that I made this
decision. Don't be angry with me, okay?"
Harriet emphasized she liked Xavier, hoping to attract Cullen's attention.
Cullen waved her away, "I'm not angry with you. I'm just tired. I'll go back to the hotel to rest first."
"Grandpa." Harriet almost stomped her feet in front of him.
The deputy lowered his head and whispered in Cullen's ear, "Does she mean something else?"
Of course, Cullen knew what Harriet had repeatedly hinted at.
However, he didn't want to mention it so soon.
Because he had to make sure if her identity was real.
The last time he came in a hurry, the doctor said that he was getting worse and that he didn't have
much time to live. When Richard said that Harriet was Danielle's daughter, he believed Richard.
Now, he had to be careful.
He still had some time to figure out if Harriet was Danielle's daughter.
Henry sighed and turned to the study. Xavier left, leaving Harriet alone in the living room.
She stared at the file that was on the table. Finally, her curiosity overcame everything and she looked
into it.
Seeing what was inside, Harriet's eyes widened...
